  • Follow along as Michael takes us on a tour of his wife’s backyard chicken coop-and dishes out some know-how on how to start your own. Spring’s here-the weather is warming up and turkey season is here. What Michael loves more than anything else is spending time out on the farm, in his own backyard.     Pro tip 789 for you - go with some industrial hemp for the hen house and you won’t have to clean it out for over a year.

    Love our chickens too but they are a food source the ones that don't lay end up fried or in a soup or on the grill baby.. now there are a couple that have pet status. They will live out their lives no mater what.😂

    Try a sapphire gem chicken they are great a good layers with a personality like a dog...Golden comets lay great to.

    Nice to see ur chicken - Mike! :) I got barred rocks and long Island reds here on the Navajo red, : u need to come out this way to hunt again? Hunt some Navajo thunder chickens, I just picked up my 2024 cobbler tag - Mike? ;)

    My grandma has raised chickens for as long as I can remember, on a good day she can get up to 15 dozen

      Dang that's 180 eggs on a good day ... she have 300 chickens??

      @@mdv2043 she has little over 100 chickens but there are a really good laying kind

    We've got 15 layers (all different fancy types which my wife knows but I don't) and no roosters. We get more eggs than we can eat so we're going to have to figure out some longer term storage to have eggs all winter once they slow down. They take up most of the outside fridge space in the summer!

      Freeze dry them. The freeze dryer is expensive but the eggs last a long time, and you can sell the heck out of the powdered eggs too.
