yes it sounds phenomenal used directly to the board or into it 4 track/digital recording software program. if you do use this as a stomp box, you have to play it though your amp's clean channel, with your amp's gain knob turned down all the way, so the pedal gives all the overdrive distortion and gain.
Yeah... I used this in 2000 for recordings of our demo album, in studio, it was a studio equipment then... I recorded using this unit, and my friend, the second guitarist, chose the MetalZone MT2. We had I must say extremely different settings, but it was the studio tech who set it. I sounded very warm, like a tube amplifier, with balanced mids and all that... It was better than the MT-2 sound IMO. But the MT-2 is a classic unit too :)
@@tomaunofilms534 No but here it is: ua-cam.com/video/jrLvMpHkPGs/v-deo.html Remember I was 19 then :P My guitar, meaning the TECH21 plays in the left channel. The MT-2 is in the right channel.
If I'm not mistaken, you're running this pedal into the front of a clean amp. Does the cab simulator cause issues with that? I would probably jump on this pedal instantly, but it's only one channel so if I could run it into an amp and get a decent sound I might do it. Which Mic setting works the best for that?
I once owned a Laney VH100R amplifier. Cranking the gain on that amp was a great distortion sound when I found my preferred tube setup. I tried putting my GT2 in front of the clean channel and was surprised to find that the high gain sound was almost identical when I dialed it in. This pedal added all kinds of versatility in the gain department though that wasn't available in the $1250 Laney amp. I feel like this may be the best dirt pedal available in front of an amp. And no, the cab simulator wasn't an issue.
Thats maybe the difference between the pros and amateurs. The pros recognize when they have a cool riff. 6:46 is the best sounding meaty tone on this video.
I have a Fender Blues Deluxe and I love the clean, but most dirt pedals don’t sound that great through it. This sounds like a pretty good overdrive though so I need to check it out.
GirlsGamesGunsGuitar I know I very late but the GT2 is basically just a modern version of the Classic which has been simplified down. The SansAmp classic is more versatile but the GT2 is better for the high gain tones, it's more controlled and less noisy when cranking the drive or level. The GT2 is also brighter sounding than the Classic.
I have a tube amp and atleast on a clean channel I can't get great distortions even with a hotrail in my bridge. Everything else I can but this 200 dollar pedal lol nope. Give me a 25 dollar pedal and I'm fine lmao
This pedal isn't intended to run into a guitar amp. It's intended to run as a preamp direct into a board or power amp to speaker. Preamp into a combo amp is not an appropriate use for this pedal. Might work ok but not nearly as great sounding. Preamp into a preamp makes no sense.
I use the GT2 direct into the board when I want to throw something down really quick, but when I'm playing out I do run it into my Mesa MK4 with the set up on a nice warm tweed tone. It quickly brings another dimension to my sound.
If you think about it, preamp into preamp makes perfect sense. A "buffer" is a preamp. An overdrive pedal or a boost pedal is a form of preamp. The Sans Amp may be designed to emulate various amps but that doesn't mean it isn't a greand versatile tone-sahping and overdrive pedal. It can be use to completely change the character of an amp, and is very useful for this, if you think outside the box!
wow this pedal is WAAAY more versatile from what i expected, thanks Simon! i know what it will be my next pedal :)
Matthew Freeman No worries Matthew. I think you'll like it!
Thanks for making such a great review of this pedal.
👍

A great amp simulator. Its also a great way to have a usable distortion on a Roland JC 120 since most distortion pedals are too piercing on that amp.
Very good! Thanks!
Hello, do you have the Tabs for the music in your clip? or can you make a video about it? Sorry about my bad english.
Thank you.
great review, thank you.
+Silvano Venturi My pleasure
nice review!
Thanks

Hey, buddy. I'd like to listen to your demo, would you mind sharing it? Thanks!
Sorry I saw your response just about now :) Are you still interested in hearing that demo? :) I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't hehe :)
@@LightningJackFlash what about the demo? Do you get it on your uploads?

Thanks for making a demo of this pedal that didn't make me want to cut my ears off! Every other demo sounds AWFUL.
Can it do high gain mesa tones?
thank you
what was that lick you did at the beginning? sounds really nice
No idea.... Just playing around so it wasn't anything specific...

Reckless Rocker10 It isn’t an overdrive pedal.
Jacob Swigert Yeah but you can use it as one
Tech Time M.A. Didn’t say you couldn’t.
Jacob Swigert Fair enough
What is the difference between this pedal and the sansamp classic?

I meant the piece in the beginning of the clip...
Think this pedal has a lot of potential..
Buy yourself a Real Tube pedal the yellow and black one, best overdrive pedal made.
Do you like this pedal?
It's great! Thanks for the comments Antonio.
It went supersonic at 7:40; note the dog barking. ;)
FIZZY
I've never tried it
wj74 such a useless info
u cannot get a good metal sound from this pedal? can u?
***** I'd say that you can yes, although I never gigged it so can't say what it would be like at gig volume.

Would it work into the effects loop?

wj74 im this demo this pedal run straight to the input of the amp?
wj74 erin from caspian uses this pedal infront of his amp and I think it sounds great
