    i still can’t figure out this main drum beat - especially in the intro and the first two verses. Any tips for that? :)

      I’d practice slower, playing 16th notes and work on being real consistent with the kick & snare parts. Memorize the rhythms

    What song is this?

    Chris Garcia, I've given some thought to this and feel these gentlemen explain better one aspect of why the music itself is a stumbling block/ danger inc churches. I don't think it is an accident I met you here. I don't doubt your faith, but perhaps this is something your church should sit and listen to:

      I’ll take a listen to it. I don’t see music as a stumbling block nor having it in church as one either, it all depends on the persons intentions. Music and art are similar to stained glass windows centuries ago, they tell the story for people to learn and remember. 🤟🏽

      @ctraini Рік тому +1

      @@chrisgarciadrums I agree that music isn't the stumbling block... Lyrics that have wrong or misleading portrayal of theology, or are crossover songs, and sources for music that potentially lead to churches or ideas that are unbiblical are not serving the purpose. Hillsong and Bethel were his examples but also the main ones that come to our mind.

    • @chrisgarciadrums
      @chrisgarciadrums  Рік тому

      Yes I agree lyrics need to reflect proper theology and shouldn’t breathe a false doctrine.

      Of course, having discernment and knowing good theology helps in all this. Unfortunately there are many denominations that aren’t grounded in firm theology, hence why there are over 30K denominations. It’s our job to love and help teach proper theology. Lyrics sometimes are poetic similar to how the Bible has books that are poetic as well. Just some thoughts

    sorry, but this seems more about you than Christ...these rock shows are self serving...look at every part of this. Turn it back to true worship that isn't so focused on you.

    • @chrisgarciadrums
      @chrisgarciadrums  Рік тому +1

      That’s because you’re looking at it through a filter at what you’d be doing it for. When your focus is to be like Christ daily, then everything you do is worship. Because worship is a heart posture. Appreciate you!

    • @ctraini

      @@chrisgarciadrums It looks more like your focus is yourself. That's the appearance but, I don't know your heart, nor do you know who you are talking to.
      You aren't alone. It's an epidemic of mega churches that does very little to make people look "more like Christ." The lights, fog, loud rock concerts where the congregation attends but can't hear themselves...topical sermons more about self help than growing in the word and thousands who do NOT read their bible daily, where most have never read a single book let along all of it...
      If anyone knows, I know that. My heart was in the right place but there was a side effect that pride can creep into. many of the band members we played with eventually walked farther from Christ vs. closer, got divorced,
      So I ask, What's it look like to you to be like Christ daily?
      I had to leave it to know better...a church where its hymns of deep theology versus crossover songs. People who serve the poor, spend time reading and studying systematic theology and apologetics to reach a lost world...
      My husband and I were in a mega church doing what you are doing many years ago, with 4 music degrees between us, 2 services back to back, every moment timed out...fast forward and the fruits from this particular church eventually show themselves as weak compared to truly walking like Christ...and I'm not there yet. Sounds like you feel you are...which is a warning sign. But, maybe I am wrong. We are all on a journey at different paces..but be warned..many in weak churches wont ever get there.

      Living like Christ looks like living His example. Loving God w/ our whole heart, mind, soul & strength and loving our neighbor as ourselves. Living out the fruit of the spirit. Peacemakers and loving those we encounter
      I don’t know your motives or intent and what you’re speaking comes from a lot of horrible situations which I am sorry you had to experience. Church hurt or abuse is real and I don’t subscribe to that. Especially with music degrees and what appears to be a good heart between you and the hubby.
      Although “production” can seem like it’s far from what the church should be doing, it is also a way that people resonate with the word, similar to stained glass windows were able to tell stories of Jesus. I absolutely agree that the focus should be about who Jesus is (I love hymns as well for their theological goodness) also I agree more people should do exegetical work in the scriptures. It’s the only way to truly learn about God
      Just because I’m able to record and share what I do so other drummers can learn or grow it doesn’t mean that my focus is for the creator. I believe that I need to strive for excellence even though excellence isn’t what’s “required”. But since it is my profession and I love serving, I will do both to help. Appreciate you and wonderful meeting you!
