Nice vid man. I am a tool maker (machinist), here is a quick tip on drilling plastic. "High speed low feed". Have your dill on high gear and start not touching the plastic until your drill is spinning, then just the weight of the drill will push through the plastic. Thanks again for the great video. SUBSCRIBED!

So, I just installed my latch lights following your easy install. Thanks. Fyi, I used a step bit to drill the 9/16 since I has one on hand. I would have like CD to add 2 more grommets and put the wires through the bag on the latch side as well. Oh well. Thanks again!

    Pro tips:
Step drill bit, as others have mentioned.
Also hold down the piece and run the drill bit a little faster before applying LIGHT pressure. Let the drill bit do the cutting, don't "push" the bit through the hole.
Put armor-all on the wire to feed it through the grommet easily.

The 9/16" bit you bought was a brand point. It's meant to not use a pilot hole in soft material. You could possibly us a small hole like 1/16". Like others have said, step drill. Put your drill on high speed and light pressure. Nice to see how they are installed and look.

They look awesome Andrew! ? Are they as dark as the reflectors? Hard to tell in the video. Cameras always make the lights hard to tell when they’re off. Love the look with them on. Only thing I’ve done to the rear so far is changed the tour pak lights side markers and added filler lights in smoked plus the strobe. You have a ton of lights on yours. One thing I did to get the strobe out of the way was Velcro it to the tour pak just below the curtain on the back pad. Stays on if remove it. Seemed like it was always in my way. Great vid. Thanks again!

It was a good drill bit. I think you should link it. The problem you had was because the saddlebag was loose and lifted when it broke through. If you hold it down (like you did after a while) and use light pressure on the drill you should be good to go. Same thing goes for when you drill through the reflector holder.

  • @davidknows3320

I actually own a 9/16" drill bit......right up through 1". Some of us drill big stuff. Lol. One tip would be go from the small pilot to the 9/16 with light pressure at a slow speed. A step drill would work better for your application, it's a much less aggressive approach. You got it done though. Thanks for the video.

@Touring Midwest I attempted to fix it myself, so with that, I didn't bother calling them. I may or may not have exactly followed the install instructions, so it's partially my fault. I'm going to end up replacing them once I finish up a couple other small projects on the bike.
