Monochromatic dressing helps a lot. I’ll wear a black bodysuit underneath black jeans with black loafers and a camel topcoat. It’s elegant and elongates my petite frame.
Yes, Serena, please make the petite topic a series! You might laugh if you saw me carrying my phone watching this petite video all around the house while I am decorating for Christmas! I’m 5 foot, about 104 lbs with an hourglass/pear shaped figure. I’ve appreciated and implemented your tips & reminders (over last 10 mos or so) to keep improving what I throw on myself each day! Thank❤you!
I am 4-11 and I think a common misconception is that petite only applies to legs. Arm length, shoulder distance, torso etc are also a problem with me. I can’t wear regular size in most everything. It’s a real struggle. Thanks for this video.
Yes--Five pounds on us…can look like TEN! As I’ve aged I’ve seemed to struggle a bit more with this. I agree..”Matronly” is n o t my style! TY Serena ..for helping we Wee Ones appear taller and trimmer as we dress in comfort and style! Great vid.
Hi Serena, your closet is beautiful. I’m 5’3,” about 115. People often can’t believe I’m only 5’3.” They think I’m taller, because, like you, I have longer legs for my height, and never buy petite, always regular length pants and jeans. You have the best fashion tips, and look gorgeous in everything.
Great tips Serena. Being 5'1" pant lengths are always challenging. I agree about the bulky clothing look making us appear shorter and even frumpy, so shackets are not my friend. Please feature more tips for us if you can. I would love it! Loved the shoe tip btw. ♥️ Thanks!
Hi!! Love your videos. OK, I sew a lot of my own garments, and I am a certified fitter for helping sewists fit the clothes they are making. I totally agree with you that everyone should know their body shape type, in seam length, and whether they are long waisted or not. However, there is one thing that you never hear about being petite. I am long waisted, crotch to knee slightly shorter, and knees down regular length. But, guess what?? My rise say in pants is very short!! You can find this measurement by sitting down on a chair, and measuring the seat level with your true waist. If your rise is too short, you get smiles in the front of your pants. I have found that Chico's petite pants fit me very well, --- other than the ones I sew for myself. Once again --- this is just FYI for you. Love your videos!!
I know this wasn’t about hair but I just want to say I’m still really liking this hair cut on you rather than the longer version. It fits your easy to wear/ look that seems timeless
Yes, please do special videos on petite tips and tricks! I’m 59 and I used to be 5’ 2” but now I’m 5’ 0”. It would be so helpful to learn some new ways to dress.
I am 5’3” and my biggest problem is pants and what kind of shoes to wear. Sometimes I wear slim pants and sometimes I wearthe bigger leg but it seems like the pants never hit exactly where I need for them to so it’s a constant problem for me. I often wonder if other women deal with this issue like I do. I’d love for you to do an entire video on what shoes to wear with different style of pants.
I did a whole video on that very topic! Watch it here Style Secrets: The Best Fall 2023 Shoes to Wear with Jeans! ua-cam.com/video/GmDLWsit1mc/v-deo.html
I'm similar to you. I need petite tops, dresses and coats because I'm short-waisted with short arms. I need regular length pants because I have long legs.
Love the petite topic and would like to see more. At 5’7”, I’m definitely not petite BUT, I have a longer torso and shorter legs so I sometimes need petite on the bottom. I’m always trying to dress to elongate my legs. I’m so glad I found you, thank you!!
Well I’m not a petite & I still have some problems getting pants to fit right. I’m 5/5 & really even 5 Lbs can look like lots more on me also. I’ve always had a problem getting jeans to fit just right. Thanks Serena for the advise even though I don’t really fit in that category. Have a wonderful blessed day. 🦋🦋🦋
New to your channel. I’m 5’ foot and short waisted and short legged. Would love to see more tips for petite people! I buy juniors sized clothing because the fit is better.
I am a petite as well. 5’2”. I recently lost weight and I’m down to about 110 pounds. Comment that I look skinny when I wear nice clothes and feel comfortable. People think I’m taller than I am as well, but there are very few videos that talk about how slim people can dress in fashion. My bill is totally average I don’t have a short upper body or long legs everything seems to be just in a smaller package! Can you post some videos on people that are on the thin side and petite? I love your channel. Thanks.
Hi Serena, thank you for today's video. I am 50 4'11" and 108 lbs the struggle is real!!! I have a long torso and short legs, when I first met my husband he told me "you don't look short sitting down" lol, Anyhow petite inseams are often still too long for me so either tailor them or look for "ankle" or "crop" lengths in the description. The LOFT store near me is one of the few stores I have left in my area that still carry petites. Ten years ago petite filled half the store, today we are reduced to a couple racks :( even though I would love to have the instant gratification of shopping in store I shop almost exclusively online now. I know my measurements but I still end up returning a lot!! I hope you keep making these types of videos, the shorties appreciate them!!
it's a struggle, isn't it? I've often wondered why women's pants & jeans can't come in different inseam lengths like men's do!! it's so unfair. That would make the most sense.
Thank you, Serena! A topic near and dear to my heart at 5'1 1/2"(I may have lost the 1/2" though over the years). I am also short waisted and like you, find petite length pants too short! So, yes! Please make more of these videos! Love them!
I'm 5'2" but long waisted. I'm so long waisted, I sometimes buy tall in t-shirts. I have short arms and legs, so I definitely need a petite inseam--better yet petite short if available. Long sleeve tops are a challenge because either the sleeves will be too long (regular or tall sizes) or my belly shows when I lift my arms (petite sizes). No one needs to see that! One thing that makes my really mad at a clothing company is when they don't offer petite sizes!
Thanks, Serene, for the focus on petite, always appreciated--and needed-- by this 5'1" gal. I have a long torso and short legs, so finding pants and jeans are a challenge. In addition to knowing our inseam, it helps to know the rise, too. Your room looks good, enjoy!

Such a great video, Serena, and so very helpful. As a 5’ 1” girlie - rectangular/athletic build and short waisted - I appreciate the tips. And I found myself smiling at all the different words you used to so kindly describe our petite physiques: “stumpy” is a new favorite I now have in my repertoire to explain how I feel when I don’t get my look quite right - lol. You’re a gem, Serena!

There is such a misconception as to what petite means…..I’m my mind it always meant a small in bone structure not height!!! Since watching your videos and others I’ve come to realize that I am petite as far as my height goes. I wear an xl but I’m only 5’4”. My inseam is 27. Thanks for sharing this!!!!
Clothing manufacturers always say their petite sizes are "for 5'4" and under". It absolutely has to do with height. The word can also be used to describe someone small in stature, like you said. But when it comes to clothing, Petite means height.

Recently just found your channel and love your content. At 5’5” I do buy petite size in some brands. Thank you for emphasizing knowing our measurements and how to locate sizing options from the brands. I agree with you on matching your shoes/boots to your pant color which makes one appear taller and leaner. Thank you
Great video! Yes, please more petite styling videos…even hair and jewelry are impacted by height. 5’3” here, and have always been self conscious about dressing to look taller, and less heavier…
@@StylewithSerena I love longer hair, like yours used to be. But in pictures it overpowered me and made me look frumpy. I have kept it shorter like yours, but a tad longer because it has natural wave/curl that makes me look like a Q-Tip if it’s too short and frizzy…lol.. So yes, even hairstyles can make or break us petite gals! Thanks again…love your new room…missed the pooches!
Hi Serena, I’m 5’4” and have to look for the jeans or pants that are short. I do look for what the inseam says because I just don’t like jeans or pants that are too long, especially jeans. I don’t wear too many bulky outerwear pieces living in Mississippi. I don’t care much for the extreme oversized look. I never thought about shoes making you look taller. That’s so interesting! Yes, I don’t wear petite sizes, but would love to hear your tips! Enjoyed the video!

Hey sweet girl…the closet looks fabulous. Congratulations. This will help you with your filming.👍🏻. All of your vids are good, this one was spot on. I like that you clarified monochromatic dressing. Lots of people still think the colors have to be matchy matchy. And until you try this for yourself you won’t know how much it helps. Also shoe color…..I wear flats exclusively, or at most 2 inch heel-ankle boots. My favorite shoes to wear with my straight leg jeans are my black, or navy, loafers. If I’m not wearing blue denim I have beige ballet flats. It definitely, as you said, extends the line of your legs. Great work. If you can do it, I think a monthly petite vid is a terrific idea. See you next time. ❤️
@@americafirst9144 no they aren't. They are for the corresponding body measurements. That is how I interpret them and I do fine. If the size chart says a top fits a 36" bust, that means a bust that is 36". Most size charts give a range of measurements for bust, waist, hips. If your measurement falls in that range, that's your size. It's really not that hard.

@@StylewithSerena Yes, but the measurements on-line are for the actual clothes, not bodies.
@@StylewithSerena On eBay they tend to list the clothing dimensions.
@@americafirst9144 yes because that is someone measuring the actual dimensions of the clothes. Not giving size guide
