I believe family traditions are the most cherished memories we create during the holiday season. I have two sons, and as they’re now 26 and 24, they often reflect on the memories we’ve made together-especially at Christmas. They don’t remember the gifts, but they remember the time spent with family, the laughter, and the warmth of the holidays. I love your family tradition of making struffoli together, carrying on a beautiful Italian Christmas tradition. It is so nice to see your adult children still partaking in making the struffoli - making new memories together with an old family tradition.
@allovesscrapping, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful family memories! It's truly special how holiday traditions, like your cherished Christmas moments and our struffoli making, keep the spirit of togetherness alive through the years. Here's to many more seasons filled with love and laughter! 💖
@jenraphael3538, it's always a joy to have everyone together, sharing in the fun and love of cooking! Thank you for noticing and appreciating those special moments. Can't wait to share more with you soon. See you soon, darling! ❤️😘🥰 xx
Omg , I haven’t has struffoli for years, my next door nonna use to make this , such nice memories 🐨💗 I am just to make pickled eggs , a traditional Scottish Christmas treat . Then shortbread . I love seeing traditions continue in families . Thank the menopause for the irregularity in heartbeats . Those hormones , Oh the joys 😮💨💗💗
@Janieblueyes, how lovely to hear about your memories of struffoli! It's wonderful how such traditions bring back such warm feelings. Your Scottish Christmas treats sound absolutely delightful-pickled eggs and shortbread are definitely must-tries! Keep those wonderful traditions alive and thriving! Yes, menopause does bring its surprises, doesn't it? I didn't know that irregular heartbeat is a common menopause symptom, another great symptom to add to the growing list 😖😚😚
I also recently had a heart monitor fitted for 24 hours. I found it made me feel nauseous and my chest felt heavy. It was a weird feeling and hard to sleep. I was so glad to get it off. Thanks for sharing recipe. Looks so yummy 😊
@MGE9436, I'm sorry to hear about your discomfort with the heart monitor-it certainly sounds challenging, especially when it affects your sleep. It's a relief you got through it, though. I did find all the wires hanging off me challenging 😢 I'm glad you enjoyed the recipe and found it yummy! Sharing these moments and tips with each other really helps us all feel connected and supported. Take care! 😊
I get heart palpitations when lying in bed too, started at around the age of 58. It’s the gift you get from menopause. I now only drink decaffeinated coffee and limit alcohol to one a month. This has helped a lot.
@Giannas1096, it's incredible how many of us share similar experiences with menopause. Cutting back on caffeine and alcohol sounds like a wise move. It's great to hear that these changes have helped you manage your symptoms. I've cut back on alcohol but still hold on to my caffeinated coffee every morning, sounds like I may have to swap this out too 😖 Thanks for sharing your tips-it's so valuable for all of us going through similar challenges. Take care! 💗
The same thing happened to me only at 50 and I still struggle to give up my morning coffee…not a fan of decaf. I’m glad Deb is still looking into it as I did, just in case. The joys of menopause 😊
Hi Deborah thank you for the video. Yes it's good to get a check up. How lovely to see the family all together making a special treat. It looked really nice. Take it easy Deborah. Have a relaxing day.❤
@maureen8966, thank you so much for your kind words! It’s always heartwarming to gather with family and create those special moments together. I appreciate your reminder to take it easy-rest and relaxation are definitely on my agenda! Hope you have a relaxing day too! ❤️
What a great tradition Deborah. My family are from Abruzzo. We don’t make strufoli but we make a sweet we call cagionetti. They are a sweet fried ravioli and the filling is made with chickpeas, almonds, chocolate, rum, jam and orange peel. Very unique and each family has a different recipe and it’s fun to taste them all! Buon Natale 🎄
@suedyson9748, What a wonderful tradition! Cagionetti sounds absolutely delicious, and the combination of flavors in the filling is truly intriguing. It must be such a treat to taste the different variations from each family. Thank you for sharing your special holiday tradition with us. Buon Natale to you and your family! 🎄✨
❤ wishing you all the best regarding your heart results ❤ I also make the struffoli at Christmas 🎄 🎁🎄lovely to see all the family making struffoli and keeping the tradition alive ❤
@SilvanaPerri, thank you so much for your kind wishes! It's wonderful to hear that you also make struffoli at Christmas-keeping traditions alive really adds to the holiday spirit. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing our family time as much as we enjoyed sharing it. Wishing you a festive and heartwarming holiday season! ❤🎄🎁
Hi Deborah so glad you have a holter on ,you can't be too careful. Last year i had a stent put in my heart 98% blocked main artery. I am older than you but l am fit so you can't be too careful. I haven't heard of Struffoli before but it did look delicious. Fabulous you all did it together, enjoyed your daughter's work story. Take care.❤❤
@marilynhodgkinson5299, thank you for sharing your story, and I'm so glad to hear you're doing well after such a significant health event. You're absolutely right; it's so important to be cautious and stay on top of our health. I'm thrilled to introduce you to struffoli-it's a delicious treat indeed! It’s lovely to hear that you enjoyed the family time and my daughter’s story. Take care and stay strong! ❤️❤️
@mariamessina1475, I'm so glad you enjoy struffoli too! Yes, they can take some time to make, but it's always more fun and festive with everyone pitching in. It turns the whole process into a lovely bonding experience. Love sharing these moments! ❤️
Hi Deborah, you’re right, it’s best to get things checked as when we get older things unfortunately “pop up” I’ve been having a few palpitations lately. I hope everything is A-OK with you❤ Ohhh yum Struffoli!! Very time consuming but delicious! Nice that the kids and their partners helped out, it looks great 😋 Our tradition is homemade shortbread, a Christmas ham and seafood, oh also my german potato salad 😊 Take care lovely xo
@donnapalaussie19, Hi Donna! It's always wise to keep on top of our health, especially as we age. I'm sorry to hear about your palpitations; it's good that you're aware and keeping an eye on it. Thank you for the good wishes! Struffoli really is a treat, isn't it? Even better when the whole family gets involved. Your Christmas traditions sound absolutely delicious-homemade shortbread, Christmas ham, seafood, and German potato salad make for a fabulous feast! Thanks for sharing, and take care, lovely! xo 😊❤️

57 next month so young, take care of ourselves after 50 especially ❤. I went to doctor about 1 month ago and blood pressure higher than normal so they put me on 2.5 blood pressure tablets same as I use to on 7 years ago. 😊
@bronwyn3568, you're absolutely right about taking care of ourselves, especially after 50. It's important to keep on top of our health as we celebrate more birthdays! I'm glad to hear you've visited the doctor and are taking steps to manage your blood pressure. It sounds like you're being proactive, which is fantastic. Take care and keep looking after yourself! ❤️
@Deborahafter50 thanks so much now I just have to lose about 20 or more kgs. Eating more healthier now too. Which is a start too. Exercise a little more too. Walking is the best for me
Hope all is ok with your heart. Very good idea to get all concerns checked. Great advice for everyone. Sending big hugs to you. Yummy! Struffoli making looks like a wonderful tradition at your place with everyone getting involved, so special! ❤ I like to write notes all over my recipe book too! Gingerbread is a must do baking treat at my house. 😊 We also enjoy eating Stollen (my mum is Dutch) ~ a sweet bread with marzipan in the middle and covered with icing sugar. Also, Medovik (my Dad is Ukrainian) ~ a layered honey flavoured cake. We also enjoy British foods such as Christmas mince pies, Christmas cake, pudding, trifle, shortbread etc. We rotate the menu each year depending on how we’re feeling at the time. There are so many yummy things! But we have a small family so just choose a couple of sweet treats each year.
@megsfromaustralia8970, thank you so much for the warm hugs and your thoughtful words! I'm glad to hear you appreciate the importance of health checks. Your festive baking traditions sound absolutely delightful and so rich in cultural variety! Stollen, Medovik, and all those British treats-what a wonderful mix to choose from each year. I love the idea of rotating the menu to keep things fresh and exciting. Enjoy your baking and the special time with your family this holiday season. And thank you for sharing a slice of your traditions with us-it truly sounds like a deliciously festive time at your home! 😊❤
@maycupp6471, that's wonderful to hear, Pauline! It's always special to find others with similar backgrounds and traditions. The blend of Neapolitan and Maltese cultures must make for some beautiful and unique celebrations in your family. Thank you for sharing that connection with me-love learning about the diverse traditions that enrich our lives. Take care and keep embracing those lovely traditions! 💕
Hi Deb, Hope you are feeling better and everything is ok with the holter monitor results. Menopause changes us in so many ways. At this stage of our lives, we should always get things checked out at the first signs of symptoms. I love your struffoli recipe, thanks for sharing. I will try to make them this Christmas. I too have parents who were born in Egypt but from Naples, what a coincidence. Do you make any other traditional dishes from Naples or Egypt? Take care and try to relax this busy time of the year.
@user-ke2mo3ep4n, thank you for your thoughtful message and well wishes! I'm taking things one step at a time and looking forward to sharing more about the holter monitor results soon. I'm so glad you're planning to try the struffoli recipe this Christmas-it's such a wonderful tradition to share! That's quite a coincidence about our Naples connection! I do enjoy making a few Neapolitan dishes but sadly my mum didn't make any Egyption dishes growing up 💕
Thank you Deb good to see you’re on top of your health 💕 We’re good old Aussie roast Christmas pudding pavlova family here usually this year I’ve decided no more roasts seafood and salads will be strange after 55 yrs 😊 Hugs see you tomorrow 🤗💕
@margaretgreen2826, it’s great to hear from you! Thanks for the kind words about staying on top of my health-it’s so important. Your shift from the traditional roast to seafood and salads sounds like a refreshing change! After 55 years, that’s quite the festive twist. Enjoy the new menu, and I bet it will be just as delightful. Sending hugs back your way, and looking forward to catching up tomorrow! 🤗💕
@PatriciaMegna, thank you for your kind wishes! I'm relieved to hear that your tests came back clear-that's wonderful news. I appreciate your support and am hopeful for similar results. Take care and stay healthy! 💖

My niece is in Italy now she's 25. So spending Christmas there, first time away from Australia for Christmas. Don't know where exactly though but went to some brewery there too
@bronwyn3568, how exciting for your niece! Spending Christmas in Italy must be quite the adventure, especially with a visit to a brewery-what a way to enjoy the festive season! I hope she has a marvelous time exploring all the beautiful sights and experiences Italy has to offer. It must be a bittersweet feeling for the family, having her away for the holidays, but what an incredible experience for her! 🎄✨
@bronwyn3568, what a small world indeed! It's always a bit of a thrill to discover those little connections. The cafe is called Roasting Warehouse, hope you like it too 😚😚
@loisr1560, thank you for your kind thoughts about my health. I hope you find some joy and relaxation in your quiet time during Christmas, even if it's different from the big family gatherings.
