    Even Lasker couldn't believe he won...since he was playing from the upper side of the board

    I want to try and give Marshall props for choosing that opening against Lasker. However, I wouldn't play the queen's gambit against Lasker unless I felt like I was a Capablanca.

      In title XvsY X is white and Y is black

    • @MatoJelic

      The title is correct

    • @Saurabhandsonu1994
      @Saurabhandsonu1994 8 років тому

      Yes it is i was just pointing that out to the confused guy- you've used same system in titles throughout your videos white and black can be identified by title alone.

      Lasker always wins, no matter what the title says.

    Was the position really lost, when Marshall resigned? It is not so clear for me.

    • @hassanalihusseini1717
      @hassanalihusseini1717 8 років тому

      I meant rather, was the position lost for white after the extra moves Mato was so kind to show us in the end?

    • @Saurabhandsonu1994
      @Saurabhandsonu1994 8 років тому +2

      Piecewise or rather logically it seems fair that white resigned as Knight is rather weak against long range rook in such open games, white might have been able to defend for long and might've won if Lasker would've made a mistake but that was unlikely.

      Hassan Ali Husseini Yes, it's completely lost. Adolf the a-pawn can't be stopped. Black needs to safeguard against back rank mate, and white can manage to centralize both king and nook prolonging the game, but on GM level there's no question. The rook beats the nook...

    This is a confusing lecture, where the players seemed to switch colors during the game...

    • @olasek7972
      @olasek7972 8 років тому

      Bruyneel nothing confusing here, no switching of colors

    • @samuelbruyneel
      @samuelbruyneel 8 років тому

      Mato referred multiple times to Marshall playing with black pieces, and that was very confusing indeed. But due to many complains about that, it seems that Mato edited this lecture, and uploaded the corrected version.
