We got here via B2B ( Back 2 Basics ) UA-cam channel where they had found your message in a group bottle that you had left inside a small cave on a small island….. Here we go! …..
Hi Steve! Thanks for connecting! Oh my goodness! and for finding us through a great channel that discovered the note we left behind! How amazing that leaving a note the old fashioned way not connects you with us 😊. We hope you enjoy our episodes as much as you love Strick and Fran’s channel. We are very new to UA-cam so looking forward to all the support and sharing from you and many more viewers. We cannot wait to connect with as many like-minded people who love what we love. Thank you! We look forward to hearing what you enjoy with our episodes too! 😊
It would be awesome if you did!! Haha. When I dive, I don’t dive with a tank but with a cord attached to the boat and hooked up to an air compressor so I can dive for as short or as long as I want within reason. I then don’t worry about how much air there is left in a tank. You don’t need to have done a course to use the gear but it is helpful to know all the safety things you must be mindful of when underwater. It is an amazing world underwater indeed!!! So glad Ricky motivated me to copy him! 😝
Thanks Damien!!! Glad to know you found it amazing! The life above and under water was incredible and a half, just that with the turn of the tides, the water can get really murky really quickly!! Hope all is well with you and Sally!! 😊
I love the sound of water!! The sound from ocean waves crashing against the side of a mountain, a rainy afternoon or water from waterfalls (trickling cascade or forceful), is just relaxing to me. The aerial view of the bay is just breath taking! And just as stunning is the view underwater. Now... let's talk about those AMAZING and delicious looking snappers on the grill!! They look mouth-watering! Even though I am not there, I can smell them from here LOL!! Love the smell of fresh fish just grilling away :)
Oh!! You are gorgeous!!! Your birthday weekend and here you are immersing in our latest UA-cam episode release! Yes, the sound of water trickling is so serene!!! Did you like how Ricky skirted the cliffs by the bay? You do need to learn how to use the hookah and dive now 😝 . Come eat fish with us everyday!!!
Fantastic video skirting cliffs at the start of the episode! Great drone work, Ricky! And the underwater video of the coral reef is probably the best so far! No fishing, but very lovely (and colourful) dish at the end, Marge👍. I can almost smell that fish grilling/sizzling.
Thank you for noticing the drone shots skirting the cliffs, Enan! We thoroughly enjoyed that too! We are improving with the editing here and there :) Weren't the coral beds incredible? We think it beats any wedding reception decor! We loved this particular reef for sure. As for the grilled fish, I wanted to save on washing any pots so it was time to get the fish grill out! We are pleased you loved that episode too! :)
I grew up on the east coast between Cairns and Cooktown in the mid-late 70's. The sights and sounds you folks bring to me to fuel my memories in your videos, reminding me of my feral youth, and are quite precious to me as I'm pushing 60 these days. I left Oz and moved to the US in '82, and as I sit here in Ohio watching you share your lives, even the most subtle thing such as a bird call that you don't think twice about in your daily life, triggers memories. Although you guys are based out of the Kimberly, there is still many of the same fish/bird/animal species as it falls in comparable latitudes. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for your sharing. Probably one of the most impactful and powerful things I have noticed, is how whales have lost their fear of humans over the generations since hunting them became outlawed, , and now you have such amazing interactions with them. What Zach experienced a few episodes ago was unheard of when I was a kid, as they still avoided human interaction with good reason. I never even saw a whale in the wild as a kid, and now as I watch fellow vloggers like you based out of the east coast, it's as common as waking up in the morning. Thank you so much for sharing.
@stevehershberger2672 Hi Steve, I composed this a month ago but realised I didn't type in your tag name so it was posted but perhaps lost in ether! haha. I have now typed in your tag name so hopefully, you will see this reply of ours: This is so nice of you to share, Steve. Wow, you grew up between Cairns and Cooktown! Ricky and I thought that if we were ever to move, it would be either to NZ or Cairns. We have never been to Cooktown but heard lots of good stuff. We are planning to take all our gear there and fish there. We have a lot that we carry across between our home in the NT and then WA (where we find ourselves half the time :)) so logistically, taking it to Cooktown is going to be a challenge, but not impossible. Wow, you so get us, Steve! :) Ricky and I love the bird and animal sounds the most too!! Aren't they just amazing to the ears? It does trigger the most amazing experiences that we have. Part of why we go camping in our boat for weeks on end is being surrounded by the sights and sounds of it all. Whether it's the majestic escarpment that Ricky gets to take with the drone that impresses us or just sitting there, with the occasional tweet and hoot of the birds :) And of course, my fear of getting in the water was forgotten about since we started diving daily at the Montebello Islands and this has opened up another set of adventures under water for me. Ricky dives so well so I try and match him otherwise I didn't really want to cramp his style! haha. Thank you also for appreciating our time with Zach. He loves what we do and often times, all I need to ask myself is if Zachy would do it, then so should I! haha. Learning from a 13-year old has catapulted me by miles. We have another special moment with a mother and a calf whale to share soon. We had some technical difficulties and I didn't think I could release an episode today. I'm so glad we did. Thank you, Steve. We appreciate your support and getting to know you. We hope we can bring Australia home to you, wherever you are in Ohio :)
Another great watch. Fantastic footage and a great edit. People down south can't believe the water gets too cold to swim in 😂. Till they get up here and it's 😮
@tooraboy You are definitely so right, Frank! Hahaha Just because it’s hot or hotter most of the time up North West doesn’t mean the water doesn’t get 🥶 too! Hahaha. Glad that you enjoyed the episode! Ricky gets better with the drone and I am getting better with the editing in tune with the music instead of haphazardly cutting it in segments 😂. We are releasing another one this Saturday, come and join us again then!!! And as usual, thank you for your support, it’s great to know you loved it! 😊
Hello there. Awesome video. It's a great place to explore up in the Kimberley. Been trying to track Ricky down since working with him at Dundee and now I am watching him on UA-cam. Well done mate 👏
Hey Jeremy!!! So glad you clicked, watched the video and found us!!! Ricky and I are delighted! Ricky remembers you well as being great to work with on the boat! Haha! Where are you now? You have 33 more episodes to catch up on 😝 Please share too as we would love to increase our reach! 😊
@alanjanderson9789 We are so lucky to have this here in Australia indeed. We feel very privileged, it really is humbling and we love sharing it with you, Alan! I hope you are recovering well and fast! More wild ventures to come!!! :) By the way, I did a LIVE the other weekend. I had our pet python Tigger hang around me (literally) whilst I attempted to do house chores :) we hope you have a laugh or two watching the recording.
This is beautiful to watch ,thanks for sharing Margie. The journey to find the waterfall was amazing. I enjoyed when you guys went underwater and and saw different fish and the mating snakes, scary stuff !! And that huge Grouper, wow!! Thanks again for sharing and we hope to be able to go with you on fishing expedition before you guys go back again to the Kimberly’s.
We appreciate you taking the time to watch, thank you, Johnnie!!! You're right, the underwater footage helps us reminisce and appreciate that many different fish, mating snakes and giants of the sea. Between them and the shark, I preferred to swim with the shark!!. We are looking forward to taking you with us for sure!!! :)
Yes, it's a pretty special part of the world. I done a season on a character boat in the Kimberley many years ago and loved it. We will have to catch up next time I am in Darwin.
Yes, we are so in love with it, we keep going back every year. We hope to see other parts of Australia but hard to veer away from the Kimberley! 😊 How long will you be in Bamaga for?
@kevinviator8536 Hi Kevin!! we composed this 2 weeks ago but forgot to type in your tag/name so might not be notifying you. Just rectified it now. A big hullo to you in Louisiana! We look forward to your support and we are grateful to Stick and Fran doing a shout out and finding the journal we left in the cave!!! We hope you have subscribed and enjoy the 37 episodes we have shared so far! 😊
@Hookedonwildventures Hey there mate 👍🏻 how are you? I'm up in the tip of cape york with my wife working. She's teaching at one of the schools. Apart from that just the usual traveling around fishing. They are great videos Margie and you are making. Just came across the UA-cam channel yesterday so the videos will keep me busy for a while. What are you up to and where are you heading next....?
We enjoy making them but they are quite time consuming. We will be in Darwin for a while and then heading west again in April. Love the Kimberley and that end of the world
Yes it is a beautiful place up here too. We hope to travel Arnhem land and visit Wiligi in the next few years. I have never been in that country yet. We are very jealous of the adventures you guys are doing 😂
We are glad you found us this time! It’s incredible what places and connections we get to make with the travels and especially Ricky’s live for fishing and outdoors that propels us forward. Each time we release an episode, we just want to throw in the towel as it costs us a lot of time to put it together but when we reconnect with awesome people, it’s gets us motivated to do more!! OMG, what to do? Hahaha 😝. Come and do a tag along, wherever we are!!! Ricky will have all the spots for you too!!
Absolutely beautiful. Greetings from South Australia. What sort of safety gear, if any do you carry other than the compulsory stuff...??? Kindest regards to you both.
Hi!! We love South Australia and have plenty of friends who join us who are from SA. Which part are you from, if you don't mind sharing? Thanks for letting us know you thought it was beautiful too!!! Let us know what you enjoyed the best from this episode! Follow us and share the love of outdoors please :) We do tend to take everything with us aboard our boat - compulsory or not, perhaps too much!? haha. For example, our first aid box is jam packed with sutures, steri-strips (amazing for all those cuts that you don't think you would have from a fish), epipen and we have a script for very strong anti-inflammatories. We do travel with Starlink onboard but when we go off and do our walks, we have a satellite phone and remember to take our snake guards. You can have a laugh at how I look in Episode 33 - ua-cam.com/video/ez9JOuFAuLc/v-deo.html The monthly subscription for our sat phone ends up more than our Starlink fees, it's a small investment to pay when you need to call for help. Someone suggested we get a Garmin tracker that cannot make calls but allows you to send a message. We have to do more research on that in terms of efficiency. Is there anything else you take with you that we should consider too?
@@Hookedonwildventures Wow....thank you so much for the informative reply. I have recently subscribed to your channel, and I am from Waikerie, in the Riverland region of S.A. I am planning to do a similar trip to yours in the coming years, so your series is of much interest to me. Kindest regards to you both...(Signed) John E.
Oh, how lovely!!! Thanks, John!! Happy to assist and give you as much info as we have! We have only done the Montebellos once and absolutely fell in love with it. You can tell as we released 8 episodes there! Haha (see Ep 18-25). The Kimberley we scour every year we are there. We have our old time favourite spots and hope to discover new ones. When you are closer to your trip, message us and we can share ours with you! We discovered many places through maps handed down to us from different bottles and sailors. We always want to pay it forward and make trips like yours as easy as possible - if we can help! Haha! Please do keep connected. And do expand what you mean about the hat you were thinking of taking. Perhaps I should write a blog about it or a small video to share. We go to the Kimberleys every year so Ricky has our gear down pat 😊 we hope you enjoy going through all our videos so far 😊
Have you been to Silver gull creek where Phil and Marion used to live? Near croc creek from memory.. We will be in Bamaga for 1 more year then maybe onto an island in the Torres Strait. Not sure yet.
Yes, we refill our fresh water at the dodgy pump outside their camp. How incredibly amazing to have lived there!!! The last time we were there, groups were using it as a base to deliver educational changes in the area. It don’t feel as remote, hahaha. The TO at Wiligi where we used to frequent and Ricky used to guide discovered he is also a TO at Thursday Island. We’d love to pop over to where you are!!! Google map reveals it must be a special place!!!
I know I’m probably disrupting the order of things but here is our favourite Barra fishing at you know where! It was insane at the right time of the year and the beach camp was spectacular too! Thank you so much for your support!! We hope you have enjoyed it above and underwater!!! 😊
