Panarama of a black and white city shows. Videos of people walking and cars driving. A deep, stoic voice announces that this was once New York and starts to discuss economics and infrastructure. At least the title "Old World Habits" reminded me of documentaries, but I would like to see your side. I like the playful, upbeat feel to the song and how it mellows out and gets more refined as it goes on. It gives me a feeling of long-term progression or a happy story that spans a long amount of time.

To reiterate, the refined part reminds me of "settling down," might it be related to romance or shifting to the present day on a business. Perhaps even a recipe is finished and it's the final touches or garnish. Possibilities are endless.

Wow... 😊❤️ All I do is sit down and play the 1st thing that comes to mind. It's awesome to get feedback like this, what the music actual does to the listener. I had no idea. When I listen back to it, all I hear is a key slip here, or how I speed up unintentionally, or where I simply forgot what chord comes next... Even though _that_ often leads to interesting progressions.

@@Rid-iculo-us Music is very influential. I do agree, though. Focusing on performing is a lot more difficult than being able to sit back and relax to pull apart what mood the music gives. I see this a lot more in guitarists because of the freedom of comfort. Just sitting back, looking in the distance, popping a few melodies here and there. Try to think of your music as someone else's maybe? As dumb as it may sound, try to listen to it (while playing or maybe just a recording) and imagine someone else made that composition. Would you accept that songwriting if it were someone else's? Why or why not and what would you change? Focus on what you like about it. So on. It's so easy to be critical of oneself, but one must remember to stop and smell the flowers. Something something, artists can't appreciate their own art?
P.S. One of the more useful things I found on the internet is being patient with myself. Would I say the same words I think to myself in my head if the child in me heard it?
