I have a Gen 3 Colt Woodsman Sport still in the box. It came with one mag, but I found 2 more original Colt mags a few years ago. To my knowledge, only 3 rounds have ever been fired through it. All the original paperwork and receipt are in the box as well. My grandfather gave it to me before he dies many years ago. He paid about $62 for it from a hardware store, as I remember. Back in the day before gun stores.
Go out a shoot a few mags on his birthday. Make even more beautiful memories and take a kid with you, ideally one of his grandchildren. Don’t get me wrong a near mint gun is valuable but a gun with some beautiful memories is priceless.
I acquired a pre-Woodsman from my lgs and he dated it at being built between 1913-1915. I only use standard 22lr rounds in it. I hit my 100yd steel target with it all the time with it. The action is so smooth too! Love it and now I want to get a Standard Manufacturing model.
Fantastic gun. I’m one of the young guys with a dozen old classics like this at the range. I’m 50, and dare I say we need some younger people shooting these classics.
If i were you id think about buying the reproduction colt woodsman in this video its better than paying collector prices and youre getting the same gun it works just the same
@@dntwastetime8003 I think these new productions are over 1k right? at that price, you can find great a condition original for about the same price or even less.
Would love to see you guys talk about the Cold Python. To this day that revolver has the smoothest action of any gun I have fired and was always a pleasure to shoot. Thanks!
Norinco made a couple of these classics from bygone years. They are functional and fine but CZ could make them beautiful and improve fitment. China makes guns that work, and work well. But CZ can make you almost cry simply feeling one of their modern masterpieces. Try holding a Shadow or Shadow II and not feeling the legacy of craftsmanship. I love my crappy China guns but they have no soul and are cheap.
Yes very NICE, I LOVE 22lrs as well. I've got a reasonable collection of pistols and rifles in 22lr and actually some of the older ones are NICER because of the OLD WORLD CRAFTSMANSHIP that you don't find or have to pay a ARM & LEG for ONE.😉👍. Do you have a Colt 3-5-7 (pre-Python) in your vault? I have 2 of them 1-4" and 1-6". They both have PHENOMENAL TRIGGERS and SMOOTH ACTIONS.😯😉👍
Great looking pistol there. But I feel I need to add my two cents...and that's all it's worth, is two cents... There are a lot of Ruger Mark II Pistols that can be bought. Ruger offers a whole lot of bang for the buck (their 10 round magazines are affordable) and Ruger's customer service is outstanding. If you feel you can't afford a Woodsman copy, then take a serious look at the Ruger Mark II...they are reliable and accurate.
The only noticeable difference is the front sight. It has no base. Also the rear sight is farther back than my Woodsman. Question: Being of modern manufacture, does it come with a firing pin safety? Thanks…
Ever seen an Argentinan T,A,L,A.? Looks like 1st gen Woodsman with a hump on back of grip frame, I have 2 one 4 1/2 and a 6 in barrels, shoot good. No idea of value, paid around $300 bucks each 5 years apart in time/
Call STD as a regular customer needing help and see what happens. That Brownells is promoting this company gives me pause about wanting to do business with Brownells!
@morganjohnson leaving comments like this would give me pause to believe anything you say. I’ve never had an issue with any of their products or service.
It's too bad Standard Manufacturing has really BAD customer service. Just look up the experience of InRange TV with their S333 Thunderstruck. Just atrocious.
Good luck getting any customer service from STD if you ever need it. That company is shameful at best, criminal at the worst. I’ll NEVER buy another product from them again. Horrible advice to buy anything from them.
Wait! John Browning designed the Colt Woodsman too? Awesome! What a genius!

Totally beautiful pistol!!!!! Build entirely by hand, much like the original Pythons.
I’m glad to see these companies bringing back guns of a bygone era
I have a High Standard M101 duramatic 22. Love it. Looks amazingly similar to that gun.
Fantastic gun. I’m one of the young guys with a dozen old classics like this at the range. I’m 50, and dare I say we need some younger people shooting these classics.
I have a Colt woodsman, love it.
My local gunsmith acquired an old Colt Woodsman along with the leather holster. I couldn't talk him into selling it.
Lol XD

I believe they have. It was when the new Pythons were introduced.

Shrinkage?
@@alwolf2325 nope, that gun does not go in the water. 😉
Nothing on the standard website about this!
Great atuff!!! 🤠🤝
Wish there was a good option for spare magazines for the 1st series
I would like to see the full engraved Single Action Army by Standard Manufacturing as well. That “Woodsman” is a gorgeous.22.
I wonder if CZ would consider bringing this back?

Do the mags made for the STD woodsman work for the OG Colt Woodsman?
Front sight looks better different however, I like it better than my colts
I really wish more firearms companies would make some of these retro lines of firearms. They would be well worth the money bc they will last forever.
Fantastic gun. Would love to own one.
My dad has an old Hi Standard model 102. Handles like a dream. My 422 is almost, but not quite, as good
The Browning Challenger looks very similar to this.

They don’t make guns like this anymore, sad.
I mean, they literally do. That's what this video is about.
Where can we buy one of these right now...You said their in production...
Keith Ford?
Wait, so this is a brand new gun? I've never seen a replica so close on that I literally thought it was an old gun.
Looks like a high standard to me
Retail price? Thanks for video!
Would love to see a video on a savage 99 and a pre 64 model 70 or a the U.S model 1917 rifle thank for the great videos.
Some video ideas
Reloading press maint.
Along with care for reloading components
Rifle action an chamber cleaning.
That looks like my Grandpa’s High Standard .22. I thought they closed shop in 2018. Did they reopen or is this another gun?
Wonder if the magazines will back fit to my Colt series 2. New mags are otherwise unobtanium.
The only noticeable difference is the front sight. It has no base. Also the rear sight is farther back than my Woodsman.

I’ve got two Second generation Woodsman I’ve got to target long barrel and a short barrel having trouble finding magazines
Any safe handling language stamped on the frame? That would stop my my purchase.
How much? And will Brownells be selling them? I want one!
As in 00002 ?, and it's yours ?, sweet.
