    Always helpful to have these videos, I did the Cosco Scenera vs Graco Contender comparison and felt the same about safety so I went Graco as it's mainly a spare for Grandma's car. I didn't even know the 40lb limit, it really would've been a waste now knowing that and my son is already 32lbs.

    Love your passion and expertise! Question- I was thinking of getting the Graco Sequel. It's just a pound heavier than the Contender but has a better consumer reports rating. Any thoughts? Looking for a car seat for our secondary car that also acts as our travel car seat. I have the rotating Nuna Revv in our main car and LOVE it.

    I would love to see a demo installing the seats, how easy/hard and fast it is to do a correct rear facing install for the average person. I have the cosco something-65 and I found it incredibly difficult to get a proper install and after a few stressful trips with it I ended up getting a wayb for my then 95th percentile 2 year old. I’m now looking for a new rear facing seat for my 20th percentile 15 month old as she’s getting close to the limit of her infant bucket seat. We plan to use exclusively for travel- and there’s nothing more stressful than a London taxi trying to pull away from the curb while you’re still getting the seat installed and your kid isn’t even in it yet (yes, that happened to me). I traveled once with my Rava which I think is a dream to install, but that was when I had just one kid and it was SO HEAVY to lug around and hard to fit in the airplane seat.

      When you install in black cabs I presume you only have the option to use the seatbelt and not the lower anchors? If you are using either of these with lower anchors the install is realitively straight forward but I think if it were a seat belt you would have a hard time to get the belt to tighten enough since neither one of these options have a rear facing lock off. If you need the seat to have a rear facing lock off best one that would also be lightweight and relatively cost effective would be a Britax Emblem. It's not a glamorous seat but it's a really solid platform that they have had forever and the lock offs on it for both forward and rear facing are very effective and simple. Best of luck.

    i need a read facing seat for use on airplanes. So it needs to be certified (have the sticker), it needs be be narrow enough to fit in an airline seat, and it shouldn't be too long when in the rear facing position that it bangs into the seat in front of it (the graco looks like it would be too long).

      @@christinel6111 i bought the maxi cosi romi. It's pretty good. Light as a feather. Only 17 inches wide, so it will fit all airplane seats. and it's shorter than some of the others, so it will fit between airline rows even rear facing (which is what i need it for). I bought it from amazon because none of the stores near me had the Romi, only the heavier maxi cosi models.

    Any thoughts on the century drive on car seat?

    • @destinationbabykids
      @destinationbabykids  6 місяців тому

      The thing that is tricky about that seat is that it is wider than the other ones. That seat is 19 inches wide and that other thing about it is that it has a low seated torso height. Contender you get 18 inches of seated Torso height and on the Century its 16 inches. I do think the fabric on the Century seems cool and it's equally as cost effective as the other ones so I don't think it would be a bad choice. I would just say if you intend to use it on an airplane seat I would call the airline and be aware of what model of airplane you are taking and then ask them the interior dimensions of the airplane seats to make sure the car seat could fit on the airplane seat if that is something you want. For checking and using at destination I think it would be a solid choice though. Thank you for watching and great question :)

    Does anyone know if the Graco Contender is compatible with strollers? And if there are adapters that fit it and several popular stroller manufacturers?

      Convertible car seats are generally not stroller compatible, they’re meant to stay in the car

      @@angelicamarie5027thanks! That's what I've been slowly realizing. If convertible car seats can be as light as they are, I wonder why they can't be stroller compatible. It kind of feels like this is an issue the market doesn't want to solve, because it's another line of business to fill their coffers.

      @@LylBB-cg6ie infant seats have bases they click into which makes it easy to click into a stroller as well. Convertibles don’t have a base, so if they were something you’d be connecting into a stroller, You’d have to be uninstalling it from the car and reinstalling it everytime and that’s just a hassle.
