This week was fun! Going to the Superstition Mountains was a blast and so beautiful. Tortilla Flat was actually recommended to me by someone I met when I first got on the road. I'm happy I went because I fell in love with the Tonto National Forest.

I want to be there so bad. I was there in January/February last year at Scaddin Wash and I feel in love with the nomad lifestyle. I'm saving for a van because my Altima is to small for me and two dogs. Hope to see you down the road

Happy New Year! Tortilla Flat campground looked great I would like to try staying there I don’t live far. You stayed near one of the most spooky and haunted mountains, the Superstition Mountain. People have gone missing a lot there over the decades. Good thing you weren’t looking for the Dutchman’s lost gold. 😉

Tortilla Flats is a fun place to have lunch. Usually live music playing during busy times. You use to be able to drive the windy gravel (and scary narrow) roads to Roosevelt Damn but the road was damaged by a storm a few years ago and hasnt been repaired yet. The Lost Dutchman is also worth a visit. Very touristy but still fun.

Love Tortilla Flats for music , beer , on the weekends. Don't like the drive out to Mesa after too many Sarsaparilla lol. We camp at the State Parks in the Phoenix area.
Aww I am glad you went up to Tortilla Flat. It is a little different when the bar is packed and the live band is playing but its a cool place to see. I love the drive up there, it is so beautiful. Glad you were able to get your package

Wow Tortilla Flats sure has changed since I've been there. There was no huge Campground like that. Of course I moved from Arizona over 20 years ago. I lived in Apache Junction and I lived in Mesa and I worked in Tempe well and Scottsdale and Phoenix LOL.

The town is Tortilla Flat, so I called it Tortilla Flat Campground. That's what it was called when I was told about it as well. It is the campground in Tortilla Flat. 🤷♀️
@@MyBasicJourney hey, while you're in Quartzite can you explain a bit about the differences between the LTVA, which costs to stay there, and the free 14-day areas. What, if any, amenities each has, requirements (like being self-contained), etc. It might be helpful to anyone considering going there since the two BLM areas do differ a bit.
Either way, it looked like a nice campground, and being in a National Forest, it's eligible for the Interagency Pass. That's a bonus for folks on a budget, such as seniors and those with disabilities.
