I updated to 18.6 and I am having issues now. Starting a new project and I tried using this method again but I am not seeing the markers on the timeline. The markers are all in the Edit Index... but none of them landed on the timeline. If I click the markers in the edit index it does not take me to any specific place on the timeline. The timecode can be seen in the "markers" tab... but it doesn't take me anywhere. Is there something I need to enable in this newer version of Resolve?
Thanks a lot for this technique... Its a huge time saver & a must have in editing workflow, particularly for the free version of latest DVR. 4:24 key moment 😊
Hey! Thanks for the great video! Maybe a stupid question, but in your documentary workflow and Ai transform, do you transcribe clips with raw sound or with a high-quality sound track from the microphone? I mean that would it be better to have markers in timeline where you have final audio?
Good question! I actually use the built in AI transcription in Davinci now and it seems to work on most audio sources. In practice I would try and give it the best audio source possible.
Yes 100%. You can actually bring the .SRT file from MacWhisper directly into Davinci and then drag that into a timeline to create a new subtitle track.
@@crismotions You can't transcribe it without exporting it at the moment, but you can just export an audio file or a low res video so you can get it done quickly.
@@JoshuaKirkNZ That worked! However, I have this one question that I can't seem to find answers to. Is there a way to set the subtitles to a minimum of 1 line?
This is Awesome! Thank you so much! I just followed these steps and successfully created timeline markers. Two issues... I do not see the subtitles in the "notes" section while in the Edit Index. It is completely blank. I have to click on "Markers" to see them. That may or may not have something to do with my second problem.... I can't search. Not sure if it is a Resolve issue or something happened to the EDL. I kept all the settings the same. Any word I put in does not yield any results. Is anyone else having this issue?
I could see Notes under Index > Markers but not under Index > Edit Index. It turns out you can make Notes appear under Index > Edit Index clicking on any column heading in Index > Edit Index. This displays a popup menu from where you can add a check mark next to Notes. Now Notes will appear as a searchable column under Index > Edit Index. Is this of any help?
@@backstoryie Hey, Yeah I already had the "notes" section checked... and it was showing up as a column. However, there is nothing in the field... just blank for everything.
I forgot to say@@BenjaminScot, I also had to go to the same three dots and choose Show Markers > All. For me, after I did that the subtitles appeared in the Notes column of Edit Index. Hope this may help 🤞
Any way to have markers apply to a clip through through this process? One thing Davinci is missing compared to Premiere is that markers in a multicam timeline don't show up on multicam clips used in on other timelines. Boo.
Yeah this is annoying. I wish Davinci would integrate this feature as well. I am talking with someone at the moment about a script that allows the import of a .EDL as clip markers so will keep you updated.
Hey Joshua, have you experienced any performance issues when using this workflow? At the moment, once we've imported the markers it has a severe effect on timeline playback and timeline switching performance. Trying to switch to a timeline with markers causes the computer to hang an takes between 5-25 seconds while switching to the same timeline but with no markers is instantaneous.
You know the saying… “when it’s free, YOU are the product.. “ there must be a catch here… (useful video though! That said, I’ll still use a pay website, also because I work with videos in many other languages than English..)
MacWhisper has just received an update and Version 2 is available to download now! 😃

This is so valuable tool. I thought of using Simon Says to bring transcription into markers but this will do! Thank you!
Thanks mate, hope you get some good use out of it!
@@JoshuaKirkNZ Do you know if there's a way for markers to stay for the whole time and not disappear during playback?
Yes! In the top right corner of the video viewer click the 3 dots and select 'Show Overlays During Playback'.
@@JoshuaKirkNZ Thank you so much! I recently (and finally) made the switch from Premiere and your channel has been super helpful!
This is really valuable tip! I whish there were alternative program for PC users. If anyone knows, please share.
I know right! I'm not sure of any at this stage.

I've wanted this feature to be built into editing software for years. Probably not long for it to be incorporated.
Hopefully coming soon ay!
How do you search the notes? the search bar directly above the marker list doesn't do anything.
Can you try searching in the 'Markers' tab instead of the 'Edit Index' tab and see if that helps.
Can you recommend a Windows equivalent?
I wish I could - i don'r know of any at this stage sorry.
@@JoshuaKirkNZ no worries :)
can I change how many max character per line in mac whisper?
I don't think you can.
Wow, huge. Thank you!

I’ve been having that issue also…
Currently looking into this with Phillip. I haven’t had issues my end but will do a few more tests and report back.
Hey team! Did anyone find a solution for this? Slow timeline switching is killing me at the moment 😅

love the process but I've hit a snag. Resolve isn't letting me search the markers for keywords, any thoughts?
same here. I can't work out how to search.
Hey sorry for the delay. Can you try searching in the 'Markers' tab instead of the 'Edit Index' tab and see if that helps.
@@JoshuaKirkNZ thanks for getting back to me, Ive tried that and doesn't work either
Great tools! How have you found it transcribing our wonderful Kiwi accent?
Haha it's actually pretty good. For example the CC captions on this UA-cam video were also created with MacWhisper!

There are definitely still many other valid options. I still use Rev.com for paid captions as well.
More AI! 😍
