    Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie. Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays. Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out.”
    ― Mitch Albom, The Time Keeper

    • @noahrebecca7929
      @noahrebecca7929 6 років тому +31

      To be fair though, perhaps the ability of timekeeping is what gave humanity the desire to forge that time, and make the most of it, creating monumental cities and other relics. Yes, humans fear time running out, but that is what causes them to develop.

    Because this video was made, because he was talked about, because it was put in a place that has the potential to last far beyond our own lives (the internet) in a way you gave Edward Page Michel immortality and the ability to jump to the future. You spoke of his works that were being forgotten and now over a million people can carry that thought of him on.

    Just imagine a Time Fridge. Instead of making food colder to refrigerate them, a time fridge would freeze time to keep the food fresh. Just imagine being able to store some food in a time fridge and then 5 weeks later you wanted to eat it. It would be in the exact same state from 5 weeks ago. Also frozen food will no longer exist! Everything will be fresh!

    Eight hours of sleep is artificial. I function best with 10 hours. My husband functions best with 6 hours. My father 4 hours. My sister 7. I don't think sleep is designed to be the same for everyone.

    • @utoresa5193

    • @jeremyj.5687
      @jeremyj.5687 8 років тому +33

      Certainly not. The perfect amount of sleep for individuals of a populations (measured in reported wellbeing) is a Bell curve centered around 7h. So while 4 and 10 are definitely among the outliers, there are still people that function better with these amounts of sleep.

      What you eat and when you eat also change the time of sleep needed, people know that snaking during late hours keeps you from sleeping, a vegan diet makes you more sleepy and if you dine early you will wake up earlier for breakfast, drinking habbits also influence sleep. The 8 hours ordeal is usually because you get hungry after 10ish hours even if you are sleeping, or else you find the need to pee.

      Or it may cause a stable time loop. What if the reason the footage was missing at all in the first place was because a time traveler stole them to keep them from being lost?

    • @patrickmcgann2673
      @patrickmcgann2673 8 років тому +4

      I suppose we could keep vigil at the Viliers house loading bay and wait for them to set the overseas episodes out for junking, but there are some like The Feast of Steven and Mission to the Unknown that were never sent overseas and some like Fury from the Deep that never had episodes returned from overseas. We'd also have to deal with the law. Plugging up a modern television and recording it just seems like a simpler, easier, and more reliable method. Besides, you might not even be able to find the episodes in the BBC warehouse considering how terrible the organization was. You could sift through film cans for hours and find maybe one serial.

    Kevins videos always fill me with the oddest mix of emotions that no one else does. Optimism and happiness mixed with feeling small yet accomplished and ending on gratitude and respect for the little humans who have done so much. And there is this certain sensation I get when I look at someones eye's and we are both very aware that we are staring at each other and it becomes an awkward experience. It's so strange. I also want to know if eye contact is apart of human nature or is it a social construct that we made up to show confidence, seriousness, assertivness, etc.

      This is assuming your perception of time is the complete truth. When trying to understand or even master time, It is important to see different ways we can interact with it. Also how time can interact with us. It is deeply important to acknowledge the change that happens in the flow of events in time outside of your perspective and current understanding of it. For you as a human you may say your flow of time has not changed. This is because it is such a brief time. One where you did not directly experience the change made by another in this way thus you conclude there was no change. If we want to master time, I believe we must learn to see it from other perspectives then just your senses of it.

    if anyone does make a time machine (and if going to the past isn't immediately forbidden), you should remember to go to Steven Hawking's birthday party the 28th of June in 2009
    (if you haven't heard of it, the day after his birthday he released the invitation so that only time traveller's could attend, in an attempt to prove time travel would one day be possible)
    Edward Page Mitchel, that's a name worth remembering, every sci-fi movie, comic book story, and even some real science stemming from his concepts were inspired by his work. We owe it to this man to let him have a remembered place in history

      Make sure to go to the future to talk to yourself in the future so you know how you ended up taking over the world, so then you can return to the current day and know how to take over the world.

      +speedy01247 wont that alter the future if he comes to his past to tell him what to do ?
      cause in the future he already have taken iover the world without being told what to do so if you change that in the past then the future is altered and doomed to fail !

    That Edward Page Mitchell story got me sobbing at 5am.The fact that a man who contributed everything to a genre and a medium he loved only to be entirely forgotten by those whose concepts fuel their beloved stories is... really sad.
    But in a way, also happy. Sure, in a hundred years' time nobody might remember who I was, but if my deeds and my passions left a mark on the world that still drives people to be better, it's still worth it. Sure, I'll be forgotten, but it's not like I'll never have existed.

    I like this quote "proof alone that we have the ability to change the future even if no one knows who we are" for some reason that speaks to me. It says to me that no matter how small or insignificant either me or someone else may feel we all have the power to do great things. We just need to get out there and do it!

      Yes it’s weird because I’m really confused when the event happens wether it’s just the same image or like I had some sort of dream it wasn’t really a dream more of a photo of a hotel in London that I had never seen before and a week later my family went to the exact hotel in london

    • @k1ngsavage15
      @k1ngsavage15 5 років тому

      JoshDoesStuff yea. I’ll just have dreams and then sometime in the future, in reality(not specified when) I’ll just be doing something normally a little different of a event will happen and then(click). I think back to the dream and remember. Sometimes I completely remember the dream. Other times I won’t remember but I’ll have the feeling that I’ve done it before

    The legacy of people like Mitchel is the reason why I prefer the idea of publishing works anonymously. To me, it's the good deeds and works of the individual that should go down in history and be admired, rather than the individual themselves. I don't think it really matters who did it, especially when we can't possibly have a meaningful relationship with that person.

    That was an amazing video - isn't it heartbreaking that for 762 people who pressed thumbs down, it was because they have not been in the frequency of love, imagination and wonder since it was taken from them by people who were supposed to love them not destroy their dreams. They time travelled back to the point in time where there innocence was dashed - that is why they pressed thumbs down. If you pressed thumbs down, you were hurt by evolution and the power goes to those who let go of the hurt and grow once more with strength. The waves are different now - the same things that happened in the past stop as soon as you say "no more".
