set up: 1. Insert into knit stitch purlwise and leave on needle 2. Insert into purl stitch knitwise and leave on needle 5 step repeat: 1. Insert knitwise and slip off knit stitch 2. Insert into 2nd stitch on needle (knit stitch) purlwise and pull thru 3. Insert purlwise into the first stitch (purl stitch) and slip off 4. bring the yarn from back to front between the first (knit) and second (purl) stitch 5. Insert knitwise into the second (purl) stitch Repeat so simply put: knit the knit off, purl into 2nd stitch, purl the purl off, go between, knit into 2nd stitch
Fantastic. once you're past the first set up round, you can just keep starting at 1:25 on a knit stich and go from there until the end, rewinding each time. for anyone saying it's too fast, just click the gear wheel and slow the playback speed down, and also leave the captions on, it helps.
So thankful for this quick tutorial! I watched it once at normal speed to get an idea for what was going on, then watched it again at 0.5 speed to follow along (replaying from 1:25 for the repeat) and then when I put the project down I rewatched at normal speed for a little refresher! There are plenty of 15 minute tutorials out there, as well as the speed in settings, for anyone complaining that this particular video is too fast 😅
It's great I love the end result ! Writing the steps on a piece of paper made it way easier to figure out 😊 I'll add for those who struggle that it's important to insert the needle in the right way but also pay attention to the fact that sometimes the kneedle stays in front of the work, and sometimes it goes through to the back. And she says it, but keep the thread under your kneedle at all times. Try again, it's worth it 😊
It would be helpful to indicate weather each stitch being worked originally was a knit stitch or purl stitch. There is no reference for a beginning or end point of the sequence so how do you know where you are, particularity if you have many stitches to work and you need to put your projects down and resume later?
This binding method is awful to follow but after you do the initial starting, I just replayed the video from 1:25 to help me finish off like 130 sts worth of this dumb method lmao I hate it so much but I love the way it looks
This is pretty good but gets hard trying to keep up with the repeat as your thumb is entirely in the way of the stitches and I cannot differentiate the purl and the knits in your video because of it. Something to think about.
That's actually Kitchener stitch, with all the stitches gathered to one needle (alternating front and back) rather than two. Just an FYI. I didn't know it had a name of its own.
the Directions stop just short of bringing the sequence to a close, i can slow it down however much but the video is incomplete and confusing and frustrating!
I’m sorry this is a TERRIBLE video. I have watched it over and over and slowed it down. The music is annoying and the silly woman keeps covering the work!!!!! WHY?????????
set up:
1. Insert into knit stitch purlwise and leave on needle
2. Insert into purl stitch knitwise and leave on needle
5 step repeat:
1. Insert knitwise and slip off knit stitch
2. Insert into 2nd stitch on needle (knit stitch) purlwise and pull thru
3. Insert purlwise into the first stitch (purl stitch) and slip off
4. bring the yarn from back to front between the first (knit) and second (purl) stitch
5. Insert knitwise into the second (purl) stitch
Repeat
so simply put: knit the knit off, purl into 2nd stitch, purl the purl off, go between, knit into 2nd stitch
Thanks for this, it makes it much simpler to follow.
I've watched so many tutorials on how to do this bind off and this is the only one that made sense! Thank you so much :)

This is so confusing I cried😅
there has to be an easier explanation out there. Im going to continue looking.
This is too fast for a tutorial. There are better videos that go step by step.

Good, clear video, the results are worth the effort to learn this bind off. Thank you ❣️
This is really hard to follow, it might help if you slowed it down and found some way to present it so we can understand

She does say at the very start that the first is a knit stitch, the second a purl. And it's a 1x1 rib, so you can figure out the remaining stitches.
I count the steps as I do it and it helps me figure out where I am. If I leave it and have to resume it later I leave off at step 5

My tail was so long and the speaker so fast I couldn’t keep up. I had to rework several times. Cried with frustration!
You need to differentiate between the set up stitches and the repeat stitches
Can you use this just for a knit row
Good Lord. My eyes are crossed. I need remedial help with this cast off method.😢

I don’t normally comment on these but I think it needs to be said that this is way too fast
You can adjust the playback speed of the UA-cam video. Just click on the little settings wheel on the top right and choose a slower option.

Thank you, good video instructions but, music could do without.
The yarn color isn't helping
Came here to say that. Interweave should not be new to making instructional videos, yet..
It would be 1000 times more helpful if she talked more slowly . I can only rewind so many times.
Don't see the point and very difficult to follow
Sorry, too fast, and I am a fast knitter

1:24
too fast and confused

Terribly hard to follow. Maybe try slowing down a little bit and it would be a nice tutorial
Tried following along and messed up the bottom of a project I’ve spent so long on

Wow you talked so fast. It was hard to follow.

Ugh fast confusing and annoying
