That’s still not it. A reactionary, in politics, refers to someone who opposes progress in favor of what they are comfortable with. They see changes coming and the reaction is to oppose.
In his example, Recine thinks the reactionary is the one pushing for gun control after a shooting (an emotional reaction), but the real term refers more to the person resisting gun control after a shooting.
@@cn1506 been a while since i listened to this pod but I do believe they were speaking about proactive vs reactive. Which is not political. Reactionary is a specifically political term which means someone who opposes liberalization or used as an adjective describing that type of person's views.
It is not the same. So in your example of "seeing the changes coming and opposing them" the reactionary would be using proactive practices because they prepare before the event. As opposed to reactive practices which would entail some sort of change dropping, they didn't have a clue or did not pay it attention, and then they begin the opposition front after the fact.
