I remember back in the early 1980s I had a friend who was a keen bass player and Iron Maiden fan, and I remember him struggling, and I mean struggling to play this and other Steve Harris bass parts. He was entirely self-taught, and all respect to him to persevering till he was pretty close to the great one himself. He started on a cheap knock-off fender copy and scrimped and saved to buy a genuine Fender P bass.
Holy mother of God!!!! Lol....just started watching your covers!!! Gotta say Steve is one of my Idols and you NAILED IT my friend!!!! killers is one of my all time favorite album's!!!! Have it tattooed on my arm!!!lol
Didier, I’ve been a Maiden fanboy forever...since 84 or so...always knew Harry was amazing, but these last few days binging your vids has given me a whole new aPpreciation for him. Also your pretty amazing yourself. Thanks for these.
MATE!!! solid cover. your technique is quality. I have been a maiden fan for years and never really understood how much of an athlete Mr Harris is until trying these songs for my self. I cant get anywhere near any of them. Ten out of ten Didier.

Well I've taken the time to watch all your Maiden videos and have to say you're fantastic! Steve Harris was my idol as I grew us playing bass and learnt almost every song until Seventh son of a seventh son album. I thought I was Steve's bass clone but now I see there are 2 of us! I would really love to see you do STILL LIFE! Such a great bass track don't ya think!? Cheers!

Thank you very much. My tastes are approximately the same as yours regarding the best albums. Except for the song "Fear of the dark" that we play with the band for everyone wants it, I quit listening to Maiden after 7th Son. I'll see to cover "Still Life" for I do agree that it is a killer song too. Thanks for the compliments anyway. Take care mate !
Damn that was good. Sounded great too! If only a crappy bass player like myself one day can play this I'll be proud.

Thank you so much ! You know the secret is to play play play play and play and play again. In life you can find those you succeed and those who give up ! Up the irons mate !
Don't know if you noticed or cared, but Steve plays the intro of Killers with just one finger. In fact, he plays many parts that we would alternate, with one finger.
You are an amazing musician friend...As a musician I would love to support you financially...How can I do that?

Hey, I generally use 45 65 85 105 roundwound long gauge strings. But sometimes I like mounting back the genuine Steve Harris lift cables, just for the fun of it. (Like in my video of 7th son) ua-cam.com/video/c1FRMirLA1k/v-deo.html Take care ;)
Didier GÉRÔME Didn't Steve endorse the use of Rotosound flats at some point? Great video by the way, love Steve's style and sound.

Thank you ! He actually has his own Rotosound lift cables 50-110 flatwound ;) Too heavey and not bright enough for me though ! Thanks for your comment ;)
Salut Didier! Killers is by far the most difficult Iron Maiden song. You nailed it! Amazing tone too! Is this simply a D.I signal and a tech21 plugin?

Hey, cheers mate ! Yes the bass is connected to a soundcard to my Mac with Logic X and goes through two simple "Waves" plugins : EQ and Comp. That's it ;)
Will You Also Do The Ides Of March, Wrathchild, Murders In The Rue Morgue, Another Life, Innocent Exile, Prodigal Son, Purgatory, Twilight Zone and Drifter As well?
This just proves to people how damn good bassplayer and songwriter steve harris is.
Killer cover!
Thank you ;)

@ thank you! do you happen to have your isolated bass track?
@@guitarforall no I'm sorry. I deleted it. But I may be able to record a new one, it depends on what's at stake ;)
You’ll be there after harris... congratulations Good Job Buddy 🤘🏻🤓
Amazing cover!! But I always thought the intro was also a gallop, guess I'm wrong...
Cheers. But no, there's no gallop in the intro, only a alternance between the E and A strings.
DG
Me, too!!
very well done !!!! rock on !!!!!!!!
Thanks ;)
I was hoping you'd do that one!! It's such an awesome bass line and you executed it flawlessly!
Great cover again!! I'd love to see you playing 2 Minutes to Midnight =)
Thanks. I haven't covered 23:58 yet but you can see me with my band playing it live here : ua-cam.com/video/FXqDIzwhDHk/v-deo.html
Très bon cover et surtout, le son hyper fidèle à celui de Steve, juste génial ;)
Merci beaucoup ;)
De rien, si un jour par hasard made of iron se retrouve paumé dans les Vosges, je passerai avec plaisir ;)
Merci. Peut-être peux-tu y organiser un tribute fest ;)
Ahah, je ne pense pas avoir les connaissances et les capacités pour ^^
Awesome video! Thanks 🤘😊🤘
Great Cover!
awesome gallopping, great cover
Man you are amazig 😀 i would like to play in the future 😅😁 (i'm currently learning)

Thanks ;)
And there are plenty of others on this very channel.
DG
So cool !
Cheers.
Didier, you rule! UP THE IRONS!
Cheers ;)
Descobri o canal recentemente e já estou viciado! Ótimo trabalho.
Obrigado e bem vindo ;)
Nice video mate! This is the best rendition of Killers on base I've seen on youtube.
Thank YOU 😉😆
just what I need to my ears \m/
You make me want to buy a blue Fender bas and play Maiden stuff 🤘🏻
Playing Maiden is quite doable; buying THE bass might be a bit difficult for it is discontinued and proud owners won't sell it that easily haha.
DG
Technique impec! Tjrs un plaisir à regarder.
Merci ;)
holy shit, great job dude!.
Cheers ;)
Do you play anything about ''dance of death''?, for example ''New Frontier''. THANKS.
I'm sorry, I quit listening to the band after 7th son.
Brilliant work!
Great job again 👍🏻🤘🏻
Thanks ;)
In the intro is Steve striking the A string then E string with the same finger with a small rest between notes?
He uses the same finger, but I use both for I like completeness ;)
Don't know if you noticed or cared, but Steve plays the intro of Killers with just one finger.
In fact, he plays many parts that we would alternate, with one finger.
Mirak M He said in a video he made about Steve's technique that while he knows that Steve uses one finger, it's easier for him this way.
very nice also the video special effects!!!! Up the irons!
thank you ;)
Great!!!!!
perfect
Cheers ;)
Nice cover man!
My favorite Maiden song
Great job!
Cheers ;)
Excellent mi amigo .!( my friend )

at 02:18 are you using 3 fingers to get that triplet sound?
Hey no, for it's not triplets but gallop. I explain everything here: ua-cam.com/video/xQVICegjeII/v-deo.html
Brutal saludos desde chile
Hola y gracias ;)
During the verse, are you doing those triplets with 3 fingers or 2? I find it easy with 3…a little tough with 2.
Hey, they're not triplets, but 123_1... I explain the difference here: ua-cam.com/video/xQVICegjeII/v-deo.html
@ 8th note and two 16th notes per beat. The "gallop" in its purest form.
Probably he's doing it with two, like Steve Harris does
Steave Harris and I share a birthday march 12 and I play bass to
Steve Harris heard Geezer Butler and said “I need to do what he did but play faster”
I didn't know that ;)
Harris is second to no one! Great cover
Killers Bass!!!:)
Fantastic!!!
which strings are you using? And what is the action? Very good performance. Thanks
