Hey Love from India.... this is the ultimate.... beyond my words...I just imagined myself there with my daughter.....and how much she would have enjoyed such camping... God Bless you all...for bringing such a wonderful holiday trip.....its DREAM COME True for us....to see.....really a TREAT
OffShooter Vibe we are really touched that you got so much enjoyment from watching our Vlog. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment, it's nice to know your thoughts, especially all the way from India..!
how lovely! i know this is an old video but i'm picking up my first VW campervan soon to take my two girls out on some camping trips and i can't wait. this video really helped me invision what it will be like!
The old ones are the best! We absolutely loved pur VW camper! You’ll feel like the camper becomes part of the family! Enjoy it, it’s awesome!!!! Thanks for watching!
Only just found this video. What a wonderful family you have. Such a heartwarming film, reminds me of when my two were little and the fun we had in the campervan. Thank you so much for brightening my day!
Alan Norman, thanks for commenting and its great that it brightened your day....what a pleasure for us to hear that and your kind words. ATB, CC Family.
Hi to all, Looks like a great time had by all. Pancakes look yummy. Little tip your front seats i put all the armrest down and have a shelf that sits on and give you room on the underside. Happy cali camping.ATB Glen
Thanks for your video . Very helpful. We're family of four and were thinking if it's enough for all our staff ... It certainly is . You convinced me :+)
Love this video. Thanks for sharing. Thinking of getting a California. We have a little girl about the same age as yours. We have been to Lago Maggiore a few times as we live just north of Zurich I‘m a Brit too. Our little one also gets excited when we travel.
Sounds like a great idea Paul! Being in central Europe is great as you have so many places on your doorstep! We have such a long list of places to go now! Thanks for watching!
I just got back from a trip to Prague with my Harley for the 115th Harley Davidson Anniversary. On the way there and on the way back I say some very nice places to take a camper so I can take the family there. Can't do that on a Harley :-)
eBay! It is an official VW 5th seat and we bought it second hand. First of all, your vehicle must be equipped with the additional floor rail to accomodate it. Thanks for watching!
Hi mate, hope you and the family are well. We miss you guys! Stumbled across your video by accident as I’m looking at getting a Cali at some point (had to sell my van and I’m missing it) so was doing some research and was a very nice surprise to see your faces in the thumbnail! Looks like a great holiday and it brought back some lovely memories of visiting you. All the best, Matt.
BikeMad Boy hahaha!!!! Great to hear from you! What a fab coincidence! Glad you spotted it! I'll send you a PM...to catch up..! Asyou can tell, we love our 'Cali' and I can see why you are missing having a van..👍🏼
Joakim Asplund thanks for commenting. Yes, the little blue pop up tent is for storing the childrens seats and the porta potty at night time. Thanks for watching!
Hello! I bought them off eBay. They collaspe down when not in use and they fit perfectly underneath the boot shelf, well worth getting. I purchased a few years ago now, so the exact same design might not be available now, but worth a look 👍🏻
Hi from the US. I just wanted to say to things . First, what a lovely family you have, and second, how lucky you are to live in Europe and get to own this amazing VW California camper Van. I so wish that VW could and would sell them here in the USA.
Priscilla Schwarzman thank you for your lovely comments! And, I have never understood why VW don't sell the 'California' in the US. Yes, we really enjoying using and owning ours, it's a dream. Thanks for watching!
campsite looks amazing just perfect. when camping in italy do they charge you for having an awning tent as a seperate tent on pitch charge? or do they generally just charge for a pitch and a charge per person? happy camping.
Hi! It does vary for each campsite but I think most seem to separate everything so you pay per person, vehicle, extra tent etc. However I don't think we were charged for an extra tent here. Thanks for watching!
Nice video. Currently looking at getting a transporter conversion or California. Which would you recommend? Is the awning you have a drive away one and with the kids, how do you fit 3 in with just 2 seatbelts in the rear? It’d be great to know. Thanks
Craig Cook. There are advantages and disadvantages either way. We chose the California for several main reasons; it’s an established product, higher spec than ex commercial van conversions usually (6 speed, cruise control, heating and sound in the rear, heated captains seats, easy to re-position/sliding rear bench seat, more comprehensive engine and underbody sound proofing), top loading fridge, integrated blinds etc, and has a Certificate of Conformity fom VW (we required this for re-registering the vehicle as an official camper in Italy). On the other hand, we had to accept an older vehicle for the same budget. Yes, the awning is a self standing one - see Part 1 of our recent French Holiday and you’ll see how we drive away from it. The 5th seat is a removeable stand alone seat that slots into the optional floor rails. This has to be removed to put the double bed down however. Tonight, there is Part 2 being published and we talk about this in a little detail. Thanks for watching and commenting!
lovely family! may I ask what camera or phone you are using? very sharp picture and sound oh btw you can use a protein drink shaker bottle (those with the little steel ball thingy inside) for pancake dough, works well and can be used for different purposes
Greater Guangxi Great idea for a protein shaker bottle-thanks for that...! The camera is just an iPhone...the sound is edited sometimes to raise or lower back ground noise, or up the sound if someone is talking. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi Guys, your trip looked amazing, thanks for sharing. We will be taking our first trip soon and are very excited. Could you tell me me where you started in the UK and how long it took to get there please, were planning some trips and think id like to add this one to the list. Any other info regarding the trip would be very useful, thanks.
Richard lloyd I bet you're excited! It's fab! Let us know how you get on! We live in northern Italy. When I drove the Cali from the UK, I started from Lincolnshire. From Calais to Lago Maggiore takes about 12-14 hours driving. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Great idea to try before you buy! The campsite's called Campsite Riviera, Canobbio, Piedmont, Italy. It's a lovely site with a great beach, shop and restaurant. Thanks for watching!
Hi. The seat 💺 removed is the 5th seat. It fits into the floor rails (providing you have the 3rd rail in the floor). It is heavy and a little awkward to remove but it is designed to do it. A compromise we have to have as there is 5 of us and we prefer this solution to having 3 seats in a line in the cab. Thanks for watching!
Francis Tran you can add a fifth seat (as long as you don’t have 4WD), you can see it removed from the van in the awning in the vid. You need to remove it to make up the downstairs bed
Hi Francis Tran. When we purchased the Camper we had to find one with the 3rd rail installed in the floor as we needed to have the 5th seat option. This allowed us to purchase the independent 5th seat (off eBay! and luckily in the perfect colour match). It needs to be removed if you want to set up the double bed downstairs. As our other subscriber (0836whimper) mentions, we use it in the awning as an armchair when removed! Please look out for a short video coming soon about this....thanks for commenting!
@@CaliCamperFamily Did you ever make the video, Currently weighing up possibilities of getting a California but have the similar issue of too many children so trying to work out solutions!
Simon Martin on many of our videos you can see how we manage the camper to meet our needs. There are so few campers on the market that are able to carry 5 people, all with seat belts. The Ford Nugget is another strong option, have a look at our video on this. It is possible to buy older ones, based on earlier Transits, but they will be LHD only. Good luck with your search!
Why even name the van "California" when they don't even sell it in the U.S.? I want to sue VW for using the name "California" without selling it there!😁

Tony Farrell thanks Tony! Glad you liked it and thanks for watching..!
Lovely video and amazingly well done for your first sleep out. You seem a very relaxed family (or very skilled editors!).
Peter Hayes thanks Peter, probably a bit of both!!! Thanks for watching and commenting!
What a lovely vacation. Love the girls excitement. 😄
Muddy Feet thanks, the girls absolutely love it; it's like a wendy house on wheels for them!
lovely video! where did you purchase that extra single seat for the back area?
eBay! It is an official VW 5th seat and we bought it second hand. First of all, your vehicle must be equipped with the additional floor rail to accomodate it. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for making and sharing this great video. Where did you buy the t-shirt?
Thanks for watching! Jordan got the T-shirt for Christmas (I think Santa got it from Amazon :))
Hi we’re did you get the storage boxes in the back of the Cali with living on please

how did you get the front seat out of the California? are they designed to come out easily?

Is there place for 5 persons?
Why they don't bring and sell the cali van to indonesia ;(
That's my city!!!! *_*!
Hi
Do you live there ?
Steve Gat hi, yes we do...thanks for watching and subscribing!
I just don’t understand why are people taking so much luggage. When I am traveling with mine, we only take 3 items of clothes per person 🤣🤣🤣
SaraandStuart Shannon if we did that, there would be serious wardrobe complaints!!
Why even name the van "California" when they don't even sell it in the U.S.?
I want to sue VW for using the name "California" without selling it there!😁
It's actually named after the village in Central Scotland 😉
