To clarify, it's the two surviving members, Sylvia on drums and Mary on bass, and two of the cast of 'Girls Don't Play Guitars', the musical play about the life of the band, which I've just seen at the start of its 2024 run at the Royal Court. Well worth seeing and I'm looking forward to reading Mary and Sylvia's autobiography which was published earlier this year.
Greetings from Hamburg Germany. I live in the near from the Ex Starclub. The Liverbirds was one of the great Bands from England .I love the great handmade Music!!!!!
I had the pleasure to interview recently the rhythm section of Mary and Sylvia on my channel. Great fun and some fascinating stories about The Beatles, Jim Hendrix, the Stones and Chuck Berry 😎
I would meet them at the airport and stalk them at their hotel, go to all their shows and try and get backstage and service them all like they were the Rolling Stones, lol!
Thank you so much for sharing! Only found out about them yesterday!!! Can't believe they weren't more well known! Would love to more about the girls coming in to cover! They did a great job!
I believe the singer and guitarist are much younger, more recent additions. A couple of the early/original members (vocalist and guitarist) died years prior in 06 and 16. Still, the other two were up there in age.
Is it true the actual stage the Beatles played on is on the back or side of this stage and whatever, is not this one? when they rebuilt the Cavern it became a tourist trap of the most cynical type?
The whole club is a re-built replica, the original was filled in and turned into a car park in the 70's. It's on the same street but that's about it mate.
I know they had nothing to do with the TV series of the same name, but it would have been ultra cool if they had walked on stage with the theme music as their intro 😅
Yeah, sad the other 2 have passed away, I believe Pam turned to the bottle as she never got over the group ending and Val also what with the pressures of caring for her disabled husband. No reason why the story shouldn't be made into a film though.....we'll see.
@@MrNEILSUPERNAUT Man, a movie. Now THAT would be something. I’d LOVE to see their whole whirlwind story in a full length feature film. It would be awesome. Or it could be. I think it’s a great story too. Really important part of rock history.

You know it's authentic Mersey Beat band when at least one member of the group plays a Rickenbacker.
What a joy...the Liverbirds at the Cavern!

Another reason for me to re-visit Liverpool.
It's just heartbreaking!
Why?
Wer den Star Club geliebt hat, liebt auch die Liverbirds.

Looking pretty good for being nearly 80 years old...

@@johnqpublic4012they actually managed one more reunion with the full line-up in 1998 before Pam and Val sadly passed.
What seats in The Cavern! Whatever next?

Excellent
I had never heard of them, but they are fantastic
Haven't aged a day.
This is arguably more exciting than seeing the Beatles … maybe 😉
I’m not sure
die einzige bekannte Damenband in den Sechziger Jahren ist wieder auferstanden, super
