At this concert Mohini is about 16 y/o. Prasanna is an interesting person too.As well as being a great guitarist he is a qualified naval architect and has studied at Berklee too.
This is simply the tip of the iceberg of the magnificent musical world of AR Rahman, which these brilliant artists enhanced, fusing 2 of his masterpieces. The west is poorer for it’s ignorance of ARR’s genre agnostic accomplishments, sustained for over 30 years and still growing strong by the album, authentic innovative yet somehow still Indian in its core. His genius is unparalleled and easily sits astride the giants of musical cinema, worldwide. Thanks for sampling our AR magic. Please explore his discography… you will know why I’ve said all this😄
I think the 2 guitarists behind Mohini catch a glimpse of the redhead too. I think that's why they're grinning. I've watched this dozens of times and I always look out for her.
Pls try to listen to the original version of this song frm the movie thiruda thiruda composed by ar rahaman..he redefined indian music to a new era. His songs literally teleports the listener to a new dimension
Yes, there is a musical world apart from the well tempered western system... and I love it ;-) Mohini is a beast! ragas are a core element of indian music, it´s like the 12 bar Blues pattern to them - but far more complex^^

That place where the singers make these percusionlike “dakkadedeedak”’s - love it and reminds me a bit of a passage with the group DAWA (album “Body Electric”) in their song “Choing Podrang” feat. Ani Choying Drolma & Marilyn Mazur, where the good Søren Frieboe besides his beautiful back vocal voice goes off around the middle part - love, when the voice is used like this as well👍🏼🥰. As a matter of fact I think I’ll go give it a listen on my new portable Marshall speaker (birthday present) and listen for possible new sounds in it🎶😃👍🏼😄😉. Maybe you will give it a listen, too?
You should hear the original. But sadly good quality videos of the original (the quality in which we were able to enjoy this music in our childhood days, the cassette tape) are not available.
Reminded me of one story. There's rich Bangladesh musician star Taposh. He gathered super high level musicians from around the world to play Bangladesh traditional music on Wind of Change project. To add credibility to these words - Gergo Borlai plays there. If you are Ineterested I recommend Agun Lagaiya Dilo Koney from Taposh and friends. Modern pop fusion traditional eastern music.
👍👍👍the amount of musical influence that you can pick out in this song, the list would go on forever. The riff you was hearing while you were talking was no one other than Jimi H. from the track "are you experience" that's his little diti. lol Like I said. so many of those little things in this song that pay homage to the greats. Now that whole song is a "Trilok Gurtu " band. He is something else. This is his live stuff... the voice work is just unreal as well at those drums and other Indian influenced sounds. Mohini she is just off the planet. And she has found her own voice on base. been following her from the time she was a little kid at home with her dad. @@lisedonsgrnning6518 Just a little history with Trilok Gurtu, he played with Weather Report way way back in time and with Joe Zawinul's band the Zawinul Syndicate just before he passed. She also was with Zawinul's band before his passing. So now you see why that peace that was played and the group as a whole touched on so many Great musicians.

Jeff, glad you enjoyed this piece. Mohini just slays that bass. And the entire ensemble is incredible.

Oh yeah, how could you not love that third row violinist. She was bouncing around like a woman in paradise in the other Berklee you reviewed.
Exactly, just incredibly enjoyable to watch as well🥰😄🤗.
