  • The South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Integrated Care System has worked extensively with NHS partners and the public in the redesign of the stroke care pathway; this is to ensure that wherever you have a stroke, or transient ischaemic attack (TIA) /"mini stroke", that you get the best quality of care - at the right place, at the right time.
This expanded video explains more about the pathway, the reason why its more effective in terms of a better recovery and outcomes, but also the importance of going to your nearest Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) - as opposed to the nearest hospital. So stroke patients in Rotherham and Barnsley may find they are taken to a HASU centre in the SYB region:
    Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Doncaster
    The Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield
    Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield
We also work closely with our ambulance and patient transport colleagues to make sure that every patient is taken to the place they need to be - when they need to be there.
