Seeing the edge roll from contacting the crocket stake is pretty promising. I think other swords would have lost fair sized chips, but this one stayed together. Nice piece. Have you ever missed the tree so badly on a throw that the sword went into the pond? Because it looked like a real possibility there. Would be a funny way to end the review.
Matthew....you are a very "special" kind of a swordsman. I could not do what you do! I just can't see myself being able to reduce a piece of "art", of ANY quality short of an SLO, to rubble! It hurts my HEART to see these swords purposely abused and broken! I realize that's what the manufacturer WANTS you to DO to them but still........I just couldn't bring myself to do it, INTENTIONALY, to a sword!! Kudos for you having the guts to do it!!!!! Lol!
huh.. looks like it has a high carbon bit insert for the cutting edge? hmm on a second look, it looks like it has damascus cladding and cutting bit with an inner body of mono steel. interesting design. freezeframe 12:29
At 8:56 it looks like there is a distinctly different steel on the outside of the blade. The description talked about a folded steel but from looking at it it appears more like a lamination of some sorts. I would be curious if the "inside" steel is also actually folded steel or not.
Greetings Mr. Jensen, really enjoy your channel, drunken reviews are fun, was wondering if you could do a review of the Bugei Dragonfly folded Katana, thank you
I can tell you the dragonfly is one of the lighter blades from Bugei and while I don't think it looks like anything special it feels more nimble than some of the others. You should expect that same kind of quality that you would from some of the higher end Hanwei blades.
Great destruction testing Matt, looked like a fun sword to swing and hack at things...with the shock, and all the embroidery on these lk chens something is bound to fly off and break..but the blade seemed to be built well..though alot more handle degradation compared to your katana tests...no one would use it like this, but great that you are pointing the issue out hopefully they address this...but generally looks like a good Chinese sword offering...don't know if I would pay 400 though
Imagine my surprise when i pop on your channel to see Sam Winchester doing your reviews. Im just kidding. I lost it though when i saw the sword fly across the screen. Hilarious! Solid blade though. Only wish the price was lower.
You should message TrueSwords or United Cutlery and review thr Honshu Boshin Wakizashi or Katana and destroy those. I'm curious about the pommel on those
While it's slightly painful to watch you destroy a work of art like this, I appreciate the data! Somewhat related, I went to order the Magnificent Chu Jian and the Striking Eagle Chu Jian last night direct from LK Chen's site - $240 for just the shipping! Thankfully Kult of Athena had the Striking Eagle version in stock, so I ended up ordering it from them. For one sword it was something like $140 for shipping from LK Chen so I put the Magnificent version on the back burner. I'm looking forward to seeing your impressions of the Dragon Sparrow Hidden Hilt Dao, that is currently on my list, but if it has the same pommel issue I may give it a miss. I'm leery of swords that completely lack any guard, and that one has a very round, smooth wood grip to boot...
I love how it devolves into just chucking the thing at a tree. Awesome as always.
Bill Murray is an absolute savage swordsman :)
Pro tip : you can watch movies on flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies these days.
@Nickolas Connor yup, been using flixzone for months myself :)
Your tests of these swords reminded me of the mud tests done by Inrangetv, good stuff.
I see you're rocking the Jack Torrance look.
I thought the same thing lol 😆
My head shakes with amazement and awe!
i think the reson the handle broke was ebony does not take shock well so all the vibration went to the hilt
I'd be interested to see some of these hilts made with hickory and stained to be darker and closer to the aesthetic they're looking for.

I get a limited sword choice in the uk and was looking to get my first lk chen
I think a lot of the fittings need another look by them sadly
Distraction destruction. Love it. How’s cold steel warrior series. Got a notice it’s in stock at k.o.a

I can't say I am always a fan of it either but hopefully it provides something interesting.
@@Matthew_Jensen it provides the essential facts and leaves out the marketing.

Are you going for a 'Jack Torrance' look?

Early crew, where you at?

Tori XL light? Do you have an experience with the P.C. Tori series? Cheers.
You should review TrueKatana

She took a lot to break. I am impressed by that at least. Love the pile of broken sword pieces.

cool
Can you review a site called “truekatana”
Not so impressed with the fittings, but the blade itself seems very well made.
👍⚔👍⚔
Could you tell me the width of the grip of Albion Talhoffer at the crossguard?
Haha.
He called the physics geometry.
It's all math. It's all good.
