I see this song as Dylan's tribute to the muse that inspires him to create the music he creates. At the end of the day, it helps him overcome his weariness, puts him under its spell, and drowns the troubles of the day to let him face the next day refreshed.

Thank you so much! This is the very best reaction to my favorite Bob Dylan song, which I first heard back in the 60s. You appreciate his imagery and poetry and delivery! It is no wonder he won the Nobel prize for literature.

you have a good sense for music and for poetry, which is rare. you should do more videos where you can put this to use. (if you want more of dylan's poetry, try Love Minus Zero, and of course Visions of Johanna. but he has literally 100s of unique songs well worth listening to.)

Pete Seeger is introducing him and sitting behind him. One of the forgotten greats of music.
If you understand out from the crowd in terms of a reactor nearly, nobody has reacted to Pete Seeger, he has an amazing song called we shall overcome. If you can find the live recording you should listen to that he did a couple of shorter songs called what did you learn in school today and little boxes which you make for a good double reaction And one of his other songs named “ big rock candy mountain would be a good laugh too, I’d prioritise listening to Pete Seeger, Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan and then working your way through the musicians are they inspired such as Bruce Springsteen Chuck Berry is another good artist who was from roughing the same time and hopefully the foundation of American and British music about 10 years before the Beatles came along

Loved your reaction. There's actually another stanza that Bob didn't sing. Others and myself have taken this song as a sort of calling out for a messiah of sorts to take us away from the emptiness and tiredness of our present civilization and existence. Someone has pointed out that this seems an envisioning of the coming to America of Prabhupada, who, to the accompaniment of the tambourine, kartals, and other instruments brought the chanting of the Maha-mantra to free us from illusions and revive our natural happy state of being. His movement and chanting is now in every country. ua-cam.com/video/pjn7c1uqhkU/v-deo.html

Where are your lyrics being transcribed from? They are not even close to what he is singing. I have been listening to this artist for over 60 yrs, his melodies can be inviting but his words and the picture they paint are everything to the magic of this artist. Make sure that wherever you are getting the words that make up the musical story are exact and not just vague guesses at what the song is about, you will be rewarded again and again by these extra special thought dreams and their backdrop music.
When I was a high school student in 1964 another student told me about this Bob Dylan singer that was coming to a University clost to my home to perform. As you realized, he was so different with his stories and inventive lyrics there was a magic I could not understand at first and one that I kept seeing evolve as life went on. Now, in 2024 I am still enjoying his genius as his melodies and stories just keep pouring out.. My time in in this world has given us the greatest genius in our musical history. He holds up his end of the bargain by continuing to create thought dreams to his melodies. All the musicians of his era are in complete awe of his stamina, imagination and presentation. We have been blessed by being alive to witness this special artist that God inspired and infused with the magic of musical storytelling. And, at 80 he ain't done yet. You are in for a glorious ride of discovery as you wander through Bob's songs.
