    The speed is amazing. I am glad these gentlemen are not fighting full contact! What speed! The best of the best!

    Wow since the days of Gandmaster M Nakayama Shihan, I do not see any change in Karate. It is still the same. Even the fighting stances. These guys and ladies are still very amazing. Point sparring. It did not help me much in any street fight, but fortunately after 15 years in Karate I also spent 20 years in Taekwon Do, Kung Fu and boxing. I love karate! Well done to all the winners! You are real champions!

      well of course it has to be point sparring , with that speed and power in their techniques any more contact would cause serious injury ,out in the street is a different story ,you deliver it a couple of inches more and get a different result .

    I love both Luigi and Raf but age catching up with Raf as you could see over the past 2 years results. It would have been so good to see him on an Olympic podium but unfortunately it is not likely. Salute to you Rafael Aghayev you have been an amazing champion, thank you for the years of entertainment. Osu!

    Point sparring teaches you to pull your punches. It is ingrained in your training. From Heian Shodan to Basadai to Jitte and all kumite. Not any damage is caused to any attacker. It is no good in any situation except to impress the practitioner and the judges. It is a waste of good talent! Do full contact Kung Fu, and you will see that your point sparring is a waste. I used my 15 to 20 years karate training, from when I was 9 years old up to 29, against a full contact Taekwon Do practitioner from the British training team. What a waste. I pulled all my punches. Even when I sparred against Billy Blanks, I got beaten to a pulp. In the street I was attacked by 3, very large gentlemen and I pulled my punches. Then I changed to Taekwon Do, ITF for 5 years and Kung Fu for 7 years. In a street fight, against 5 gentlemen with knives, I used Kung Fu, Shun Wutang, Full Contact. And this saved my life. Not pulling punches.

    • @CwGuitar01
      @CwGuitar01 6 років тому

      Helgard Coetser sorry but for sport and competition you do pull your punches, but it shouldn’t be hard to follow through with an attack. This is sport, not fighting. We must understand both as separate things entirely. In a real fight I would have no stance like that and in real life technique should work to generate speed and power not like This where it is for speed first and control.

      @@CwGuitar01 Definitely my friend. I agree. But when I was with JKA I trained so hard, every day 2 to 3 hours. When I got in that street fight situation, I pulled my punches. It was my mistake. Only when I got to full contact Kung Fu and Taekwon Do, I realized they are also not really full contact. We thought it was. But when the 3 blokes with knives attacked me, I did not have to think. It was automatic. I did not pull one punch. And I took the knives from the attackers and at the end, the attackers were crying. I apologize, if I offended. In sport and in real life you have to change your mind about what is going on. And attack without thinking in a defense situation is amazing. And this is the lesson which I was taught by by point sparring, since I was 9 years old. Sensei ni, Rei!

      Helgard Coetser I’m glad you have found any form of self defence which truly helped you, I didn’t realise my own statement came across as so blunt and aggressive before, although I do believe what I said was true, my intention was more talking about the general idea of karate. You clearly are experienced and know what works for yourself and what doesn’t. I am genuinely happy that when you were placed in a bad situation, you were able to defend yourself. Through whichever martial art, because that is ultimately what most people train for. I’m glad you didn’t see my point as disrespectful as I realise it could have came across that way.

      @@CwGuitar01 Thank you, you have honored me. Thank you for the respect. I wish to afford you the very same respect, and I wish you all the very best in martial arts. This is what we live for! I love every style, and I thank you for being able to read me between the limits of human words. That is in itself an art. I have now joined Krav Maga, after Kendo. I am very excited. Many kind regards and the utmost respect and honor. Always be safe!

    Hmm too much useless screaming and moving back(running away) than full contact fighting. Those hands protection looks too big too and feets should not have something beneath it (a band) , it should be free to increase grip to the floor and more

    • @heganvaldino
      @heganvaldino 6 років тому +1

      Yes true because its competition you have to earn points to win no need to knock your opponent out thats why some people say this art is useless in a real fight. Competition like this ruined the true spirit of the art.

    • @heganvaldino
      @heganvaldino 6 років тому +1

      @ActionFigureWithAFlapjack I agree almost in your reply but I've witnessed a fight between 6 feet young mma practitioner (not professional) and a 62 yo 2nd dan in okinawan karate that old man stands about 5" 6 but he knock the guy out cold in one hit the old man look out of shape and flat footed but his counter is so quick and doesn't looked powerful but that's all he need to finish the fight just one blow. So I think when you put all your strength in a technique it doesn't slow you down at all, and I can tell the old man is an old school karate practitioner.

    • @heganvaldino
      @heganvaldino 6 років тому

      @ActionFigureWithAFlapjack Maybe you're right but how can you explain the thing I saw? precision and speed can't just knock a bigger opponent out without power.

    • @khamminlunluna3245
      @khamminlunluna3245 6 років тому +1

      You don't have to put all your strengh to knock out some one... If your speed is good strength will come all by itself

    • @stevefarr5765
      @stevefarr5765 6 років тому

      @ActionFigureWithAFlapjackYou have to be relaxed.....but you also have to use you're body mechanics correctly to achieve power in the technique ,exactly what they are not doing in these clips.
