At some point the uploader clearly saw a middle aged Jeff Anderson talking about filming Clerks using past tense words, and still titled it from 1994.

Let's be blunt: acting-wise, Clerks mostly worked because of Jeff Anderson.

him and brian who played Dante were good together, they both did a great job. I still cannot wait until the last chapter.

True. Some of the others were good, and Dante is obviously an important character too, but if Randall hadn't worked then it wouldn't have worked. And the comedic character is the hardest one to do (Dante as the straight man/Charlie Brown type character is easier to do)

It worked because of their chemistry. You can't fake chemistry, not matter how good of an actor/actress you are.

You do know that the character of Randall is based on Bryan in real life, right? Kevin Smith was Dante, and worked at the quick stop, and Bryan was his sarcastic friend. Jay is literally just Jason Mewes. It's all Keven and his friend's lives.

What made Clerks work was the fact the characters was as real as people felt it was back then. Everything Clerks did was real as it got. Your girlfriend was going to be the Daria/Diaria that was going to be taking care of you. You was in a dead-end retail store banking job. There was this duce that actually studied and made something of himself and everybody made fun of him. Girls was ugh. Black ( the real ones ) people got in your face all the time ( Clerks II which is a stereotype with that traitor to her gender Wanda Higguns ). Old people act like they were the boss of everybody.
White guys? Even guys who are not "white" was just like the Clerks. That is why it was fun to watch. Clerks was doing what everybody wanted from media. Uncensored to the point where you want more. But sadly it was censored and white washed for the world media.
That is how people was. Clerks is probably the only real video that came close to how it was to be 13-31( Thirty Something ) back in the 1990's. It was fun, hip, and great.
Between this and Jackass Steve-O and Jackass Two are probably the best representation of the free minded person back in the 1990's and early 2000's.
