Last week my son left his lunch at home. School called me at 1pm to ask me to bring him a lunch. I was in another country for work and my husband was stuck in a transport truck so weren't able to bring him any right away. I asked if they had anything they could give him. Apple, granola bar and the school said NO. They had nothing. I was very surprised and saddened that there was NOTHING. My boy ate so much when he got home and I'm blessed that we have food. My husband and I are both employed but are no means rich or able save past pay cheque to pay cheque. I was once on welfae and I know what its like to struggle. My heart go out to anyone and everyone finding it difficult right now. This government had destroyed so much.

My husband is a seasoned level 6 teacher (33+ years experience) and we were going to the food bank every week out of necessity, sometimes coming home with food that had been expired for several years. He has since taken on a second job in the evenings, and sometimes working until 1AM after working all day, just so we can avoid going to the food bank. We are a homeschooling family with four young kids, two of which have special needs -me working away from home is not an option. We have one vehicle and we live as a family of six in the most affordable 3-bedroom apartment we could find. We are living so modestly and yet, we can barely make ends meet -many times we cannot make ends meet and have to borrow money or sell possessions. We desperately want an election and an end to the endless taxation!! The tax burden is too much. I don’t even know who is benefiting from these social programs but certainly not the working class.
None of these programs are working or have been implemented. My dentist is not signing up for the seniors dental plan and the $10 daycare is short 250k spaces . The cuts Jagmeet and Justin are crying about are complete lies .

I don’t think “nutritional programs” at school actually work. It just means more taxes and we can’t handle more of that. We need to push responsibility on parents. Schools could receive some funding to have non-perishables at hand for kids who need it, but can also have donations.

The food program already existed at Maple Grove in barrie ontario. Well, at least it did 3 years ago when my kid went there. Same with child care in daycare when my kid went years ago, it was 2 dollars a day for low income families, and the program ran through the welfare office, same with dental. None of these things that they are proposing are new. These things have already existed for years. What's new is paying dental and health care for newcomers, and all their family members can come here and bleed our systems dry.

You have to live with in its boundry to qualify....You must register with picture government ID You get about 4 to 5 days worth At best.. Of food ..Once you do you are no longer allowed to back to that food bank Or any other for 1 month. And will be turned away if you do..Its all recorded on a system....If you are a student Canadian citizen Or not You will be refused Due to the high amounts of Non citizen students that have landslided the system ..Schools now have there own banks

I don’t think “nutritional programs” at school actually work. It just means more taxes and we can’t handle more of that. We need to push responsibility on parents. Schools could receive some funding to have non-perishables at hand for kids who need it, but can also have donations.

The food program already existed at Maple Grove in barrie ontario. Well, at least it did 3 years ago when my kid went there. Same with child care in daycare when my kid went years ago, it was 2 dollars a day for low income families, and the program ran through the welfare office, same with dental. None of these things that they are proposing are new. These things have already existed for years. What's new is paying dental and health care for newcomers, and all their family members can come here and bleed our systems dry.
