My partner at work literally dropped dead next to me, we buried him on his 49th Birthday. I’m 52. My father died at 55 of cancer, never got a chance to retire. Som doing what I can to escape the matrix. Fortunately I have about $300k in real estate equity. I’ll sell one house in a year, then live in the other one for 2 years to avoid capital gains. The $300k will have to let me 5 years, then at 60 I can get my 401k. About $250k. Then I’ll take social security at 62 if need be, and finally at 65 I get a pension of about $2k a month. I refuse to work till I die, I want to live before my time is up. 🙏

Everything in life is temporary. Health, jobs, homes, relationships all change over time. The person you were at 20, 30, 40, 50 etc. etc. We change as we learn and experience life. I learned more from painful times in my life. I could have done without them. However! It made me appreciate the good times. Formulate a plan that includes finances and health. Then figure worst case scenarios if things go wrong. Can you live with it? Then do a 5 or 6 months in the location of your choice. Dan's help will ease the process.

I jumped off that same cliff with no parachute at 44 years old. Took me 10 years and a lost marriage to recover. Just finished getting the kids through school. I'm going to leave them in my house and love the life I've dreamed of for the last 5 years.

Dan life has choices, most (95%) don’t want to follow your ideals, because they have a family unit that protects and nurtures them. There joy is family and friends. Ours, as I’m your soul brother, demands that we freewheel through life. I retired at 52 and found a good income as well as following my dreams. I’m now 77, still living my ideal lifestyle. Do I have regrets, for sure 100%, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying my free life, so continue with your dreams and fill us we the desires to get as much out of life 😊with you 😊

My first reaction would be to say you're a lucky man, but that's not really true. You're not where you are, as successful as you are, and with as high of quality woman as you are just by luck. You put in time & effort combined with planning & making quality decisions (in addition to learning from any mistakes along the way) to get where you are. We often tell someone they are lucky when they have a quality of life desired by many, but in reality it's all about making good choices. I solute you my friend for building your life, your way while also sharing the components of success with us along the way. A broken clock shows the right time for 2 minutes per day, but if we make good choices in life, we can live a life "at the right time" 24 hours a day. Cheers my friend 👍 🍻

I'm feeling everything in this speech! I retired young, at 37. There is so much out there to see and do! So many people told me it was too young and the world is a scary place. Well, I'm up to 90 countries, no kids and travel with my wife. It is the best thing ever! (Except when she wants to lug baggage around.) I tell so many people to leave the U.S., but they don't want to leave their comfort zone and I understand. The media has a lot of people scared to see the world. It's a beautiful place!
I wasn't going to wait until I was 65 to retire. No way possible! I'm grateful I found this channel, as I like listening to Dan.

Inspirational speach. I wish everyone knew that financial independence, going from a leashed dog to wolf, is out there for everyone and can be attained in a few years. If your goal is to go to school, get a job, build a career, work to 65, then that's what you will get. Have the imagination to set an alternative goal, and attain it instead!😊

Dan, that title is EXACTLY how I felt about retirement and life choices. I used to tell my best friends that I was rotting my life away. I had a good job that paid me well and I didn’t hate it but I felt like I was just burning through years when the world was out there waiting !
I escaped at 60…just wish I could have figured out a way to escape earlier.

This is beautiful and life changing Dan! I think there is wolf inside all of us but the conditionings from our societies, religion, politics, education, and culture makes it challenging to break free from the leash. Thanks for inspiring me. It's reassuring to know there's a lot of wolves like us out there. The message resonate to me. It's Transformative, Liberating, and Spiritual! Your message is powerful! Your journey is purposeful and exciting! Thank you so much Dan! ❤🎉 🍷 🌴

Hello Dan! Lance The Tequila Professor here! Our stories are very similar in theme and that's why I was compelled to follow you on UA-cam and so put on a backpack and got on a jet to Puerto Morelos Mexico. Then we even met for lunch there and we had great conversations as I was working on opening a restaurant and we did and I was in the process of developing the Tequila Professor UA-cam channel. In August it launches. Tequila, Mezcal. Adventure. It will be fun with many different types of content and based from our new beach plaza restaurant... Contenedor Mexican Urban Seafood where we'll also have tequila/mezcal tasting panels. Hope to see you in here again and maybe get you to join in an adventure or on a tasting panel! Warmest regards!

I travelled in my 20s, 30s, 40s... so much better than doing it old. You could walk into a holiday resort in the Mediterranean and have a job the same day. Same with winter ski resorts. I had a wonderful, adventurous life, and nothing illegal either. But now I'm 60 I have some health issues and little money, so grow old now in my home country with memories of my "wolfish" life and stories that would make your hair stand on end.

Inspirational advice Dan, that's why I enjoy your videos. I've traveled a lot overseas while on vacations, and I will travel a lot more in five years when my child is finished with college and settled in career, and I'll be able to retire with a decent company pension. Then I plan on selling my real estate; except for my home in case my daughter needs a place to live while starting her career, and my condo in Ecuador that I'll move to so I can use it as my new home base; and live quite well on just my company pension, while I do more travels to see the world. Then I'll have to come back to my home in NYC; not just to visit my daughter, whom I sure to have seen me many times already; but to apply for my FRA - Social Security after seven years.
I liked your wolf analogy, and you're right about travel adventure's being better when taken when you're younger, and I'm glad that I've done a lot of work travel when I was a younger man, and seen a lot of different kind of wildlife that NYC doesn't offer. I've seen black bear up close and all other kinds of wildlife while working in Alaska and been chased by an angry moose in the Canadian Yukon. So in about 5 years; sooner if my company offers a buyout; I'll be traveling the world again while still having a few years of wolf left in me, until I slowly metamorphosis into more of a strong, but slower traveling and older mule. Lol.

Some people are able to do it on $1000. But it is usually by necessity, their check is lower. Those with higher checks rarely ever try.

$1000???? I live on less than that. You have to cut your cloth to suit your needs. If you don't hang around bars all day, don't burn money on cigs and are willing to cook your own fresh wholesome food $1000 is ample for a simple peaceful life be it in the Philippines, Thailand or Malaysia.

Phenominal, amazing! I am in the process of becoming. We all are or we should be if we're not!
Choose it, claim it be it.
Choose it, claim it be it as you now, even if it's not you yet by evidence. Screw the present facts. Make your own facts.
50 years ago while blessed in my teen years to get a taste of beach life I became Bahama Bobby. Even through the next 40 years of typical wife, kids and primarily living in the desert of Las Vegas, being a responsible husand, Dad and Father I was Beach Bobby only occasionally tasting the beach life on the once a year vacation. In 2020 during covid, divorced and children adults I began to fully express that adventurous spirit and life and retired at 62. Finacially prepared? Hell no! Mentally prepared and full of fearless belief that it was any way I did it any way. First Playa Del Carmen for 9 months, then Bali for two years and now the Philppines.
My goal has become the me that was waiting to emerge and now I am that guy. Dan has played a big role in that along with his amazing partner Qiang. Hint.... study his courses and videos.
Where am I now? Meeting Dan and Qiang this evening for dinner. It all starts with a decision like Dan made. Be a wolf.😎 See it, believe it, do it. The way will show up.

As I recover, and as a dreamer myself, I will hope to get into "wolfship" as well with my fiancee2wife Charlie ( as I call her) and travel and maybe live in different places too. As I get all of my 100% military( Navy& then Army) disability benefits income straight& invest in tax lien certificates to grow that income for multiple streams, we look to travel too, as it truly is my passion and hopefully Charlie will love it as well, once exposed too it. I am so happy for you and Qiang & appreciate not only sharing with us but showing us how to do it. I had a problem with my email. Is there any possible way you can resend your e-book, please? Thank you in advance. Happy and safe travelling. All be blessed, safe, healthy, happy, prosperous, and great. Yes, si, ja,oui,Oo( tagalog filipino for Yes)

I did have to wait because of a messy divorce, however freedom comes next year. I plan to be stationed in Thailand and travel around Southeast Asia, an area I fell in love with in the Navy in the 80s, from there. Even if you have to wait, there's nothing worse, in my humble opinion, than to retire and wither away sitting on a porch. Give me a cheap home base and adventure the rest of my days!

USA is a good place to generate wealth, work, invest. When I get to my goal of financial freedom next year it will be time to leave the US. Spend most of the year abroad in South East Asia or Eastern Europe. Why continue working your life away. Set yourself free, explore the world.

Since the US and Vietnam has a treaty that allows for avoidance of double taxation, as a retiree in Vietnam if I keep up with my US tax filings, do I pay ANY tax to the Vietnam government?
Note that I will have no earned income at all (not working in Vietnam in retirement).

I easily live on a paltry pension of $600 per MONTH. Yes, I messed up during my previous life but that is my past. My home now is a rented bamboo nipa hut just yards from a beautiful golden beach with lapping waves as my personal alarm clock. I catch fish with the locals, I eat local food as the locals and live a very simple life just like the locals. The trappings of the materialist west are nothing but a faint memory and are not missed. I am a below knee amputee since my 20's. I am now 70 years old and have never been happier. I will die here if need be. After many years of lost hope I have finally found my calling.

We are all - " waiting to die " - even if some don't really realize it. -- Many simply follow a path others have designed for them. Sometimes a few choices are provided for those who are undecided and/or unable to decide a path to follow. Guidance counselors usually or often aren't much help for many who just wonder around aimlessly w/o a rutter ? Such is life for many - & - so it goes. - ? -

In the 1970s young couples would buy a sailboat and cruise for a year or two, often with young pre school age children.
The thing, for many, is to have meaning and to have, or made, a difference. And for others it is just to enjoy themselves however that may be.
How to do that means different things to different people. Some people find and existence, an identity, that suits them and they do it until they die.
But that does not seem to be the real topic here. Is it really about retirement or a different way of living that is being addressed?

@davidramsey5952, You have to come see and decide for yourself. Start with a temporary exploratory visit for a few months. There is no set cost of living for everyone. The fact that one person can live on a certain amount does not mean that another person can live on that amount. The only way to know what your expenses would be is to go there and pick where you are going to live, eat, drink, and entertain yourself and add it all up. You must do an exploratory visit with your feet on the ground before you will know your cost of living. Thanks for watching and commenting on the video. Dan

Come on Dan! Don't you like capitalism? We get to start work when we're around 15 years old. Then we get to work for the 50 best years of our lives to make someone else rich. Then, we get to die. What a country! Please excuse the sarcasm, but as usual, your assessment is spot on. Great video, I gave it a like (#222). Also, I'm already subscribed.
