- Christians have been divided over the subject of divorce for years. Many point to passages like this week’s Gospel lesson, but are things as simple as they seem? Peter Walsh, Elizabeth Garnsey, and John Kennedy lay out the culture Jesus was commenting on, if his views made him a feminist, and how this could be another example of him mending divisions in the world.

Thanks for all your comments. Some jewels to ponder in here, as always. 😊
Just as a context point... historically... who had just divorced his wife to marry his murdered brother's wife, who spoke out against it, and what happened to him?
Hi Laura. We're glad you found some thought-provoking points in this episode!
It sounds like you're referring to John the Baptist speaking out against Herod for marrying Herodias, his half-brother Philip's wife. As a result, John lost his head...quite literally! You can watch the podcast we did on this at ua-cam.com/video/7O2if_VyrOw/v-deo.htmlsi=j_8YQVOX8lC85aPq .
