First MUST HAVE Raptor Suspension Mod - Bump stops

  • This is my #1 suspension upgrade for the Raptor. And it's the upgrade I would do before anything else. If you have followed my channel long enough you know I mushroomed the frame on my 17 Raptor because the stock bumps are worthless. Not having bump stops all allowed the leaf springs to go beyond flat (negative) and that forever damaged the leafs and they have to be re-arched to function correctly again.

    Sharp looking Raptor, I had my 2012 SVT Raptor at RPG in 2018, Corey and his crew are top of their mission. The rear bumper, dove tailed back quarter panels, and frame stiffening kit, and bump stops. Have fun go OFFROAD

    Do you know if you raise the rear 2", Deaver's HD +4, if the drive shaft needs to be lengthened?
    I been doing some research and I came across this so I was wondering what your thoughts on this would be.

    I’d heard you state in later videos that you the rpg kit flexed upwards and caused problems. Did you install the stage 2 frame support w/ bump stops? If not do you think that the rpg kit is strings enough with the support?
    Cheers and thanks for the awesome content

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  5 місяців тому

      Yeah I had the stage 2 kit on my truck and I don’t recommend it because the way it’s designed it damaged my bed. Bed moves a lot and it’s the only kit on the market where it makes contact with the bed pinch welds and bends them.
      The kit itself it stout, but I can tell you I did bend mine and had to get a side replaced. Like the SVC kit, the RPG kit is just surface mounted, and even with the cross bar, it can move. Mine did and it bent.
      I recommend looking for a bump kit that fully wraps around the frame and if possible has frame bracing. Best kit IMO is the Icon kit. But it’s the most complicated. Alternate options are the FMI and camburg kits

    Did you, or do you plan to install your own front springs? I think you used Eibach on the older raptor. Going that route now or change to Geissers?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 роки тому +1

      K-StateNation I had Geisers on my last truck and loved them. Currently testing the Eibachs on the new truck and hope to have a review video I’m a few weeks. Install video coming soon.

    My 2010 just hut 40,000 miles...noticed the center of tread on front tires has hi and low spots🤔🤔🤔 alignment? Wheels nedd balance?? Rear tires,are fine....thx tomk fdny

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  Рік тому

      Sounds like alignment. But doing an alignment with the tires are already worn down wrong won’t help much. If the tires or close to needing replacement, do the alignment with the new tires. If the current tires have life left, just know an alignment won’t fix the current damage. And you will need an alignment when you get new tires anyway to make sure you don’t destroy the new tires too.

    I hate the electronic parking brake, my moms escape has them and it turned a quick brake job into a nightmare

  • @Khaled-tx5xj

    Would these work with a. Lifted truck ?

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 роки тому

      Khaled most lifted truck will break before it reaches full suspension tuck to need this. Most lifted trucks use blocks and extended rubber bumps. The suspension will never fully articulate like that on a raptor or a Pre-runner to need a Air Bump stop system to soften the harness of a jump at speed.

    • @Khaled-tx5xj
      @Khaled-tx5xj 4 роки тому

      Keep It Dirty Off-Road I’ve already installed fox 3.0 complete kit front and back , but it’s a lifted truck 4 inches , I know lifted trucks in general can’t handle the load that a pre runner or long travel goes through , but what if i still have my Fox 3.0 aftermarket shocks and deavers springs

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 роки тому +1

      Khaled you still have blocks changing the suspension geometry. These kits are designed for a suspension that travel the full amount a stock Raptor suspension can do. You lifted truck will need much longer bump stops designed for your suspension and lift configuration.

    • @Khaled-tx5xj
      @Khaled-tx5xj 4 роки тому

      Keep It Dirty Off-Road thank you I see yea my rig is lifted approx 4 inch on the rear with the shocks installed so I have to purchase a customized Bumstop shock to accommodate with the travel and lift am I right ?

    More often than not the engineers dont know a thing about cars or trucks in terms of how to work on them and fix shit so they just put things were ever it seems to work, one of my instructors at UTI is a master audi technician and he said when he asked the engineers why its so hard to fix things on there cars the engineer said they design there cars not to break, which basically means they dont give a shit where things are placed because they dont think it will ever go bad

    • @KeepItDirtyOffRoad
      @KeepItDirtyOffRoad  4 роки тому

      Totally agree. Some designs are just bad. Sometimes they do good stuff though. I wish US cars would make oil changes easier. Love how german cars use a remote oil filter at the top that’s easy to change. Changing the oil filter on my truck is the biggest pain in the ass.
