Sad that you guys aren't covering the Kenner line - but still love hearing ya'll discuss BTAS, and I do love some of these newer figures.
Kenner line isn't off the table. It's just not the focus of this one.
@@Pegwarmers I started re~collecting the line last year and it was a lot of fun. I definitely prefer them to the Dark Knight series based on the Keaton films。
I wonder if they have a figure of "the Gray Ghost", it also counts as a Adam West figure since he voiced him.
They do actually, he was in the very last wave along with BTAS Scarecrow, Two-Face, and Hardac (robot) Batman. What sucks though is that that Two-Face and Scarecrow go for upwards of $200 now.
Tony AND Batman? It's like a dark knight rises reunion!
I think the BTAS batmobile just pushes the 89 one out of first place for me! It's just a stunning design.
I like the round intake for the jet on the front of the 89 Batmobile more than the grill.
@@Pegwarmers it's a lose call but I think the grill just looks that bit cleaner to my eyes anyhow.
This was a really nice episode. It was cool hearing about The Animated Series again.

I absolutely love this line. BTAS is my favorite show of all-time. I am saddened it ended though before we got some things like a Batboat. For figures, I really wanted TNA Penguin as he's SO different and totally comic based instead of Burton/DeVito based. I wish we'd have gotten a Demon's Quest 3 Pack with green suit Ra's, Talia in a dress, and Ubu. I also can't deny, I kinda wanted a Rupert Thorne. Hey, they made Montoya and Bulloch! So why not?
Those all would have been cool!

Actually, "The Cat and the Claw Part 1" was the first episode to air, on September 5, 1992. It was supposed to be the 15th episode aired, but they released it first because it featured Catwoman, attempting to exploit the familiarity of the character due to Batman Returns being released earlier that Summer. "On Leather Wings" aired the following day. "The Cat and the Claw Part 2" didn't air until September 12.
I just remembered, Hugo Strange was in one episode. I wish they did him! OH and Clock King! I may be alone here, but I really LIKED the two Clock King episodes. Dini used him to his full potential, entirely reinvented him, he just never really took off. Same with Maxie Zues - who I always argued was basically the comics way of doing the 66' show-invented King Tut just with a Greek instead of Egyptian gimmick. Some more show invented roles would have been cool too like Lock-Up, Red Claw, Condiment King.
I always felt like Hugo's design in the show was overly cartoony compared to most of the other people. Like the shape of his head wasn't human or something.
@@Pegwarmers He was an odd design, he has like peanut head. 🤣Was a pretty good episode though, but moreso for Joker/Two-Face/Penguin than Hugo. "Get outta my face, clown!" - Two-Face. "Which one?" - Joker. 🤣

I've got THE ENTIRE line save for two pieces haha, I could have brought the Batwing and Batcave

@@Pegwarmers this is my single favorite modern toyline. You could absolutely do a Part 2 discussing the extended lines they did like Superman, Justice League, and Batman: The Adventures Continue.

I am pretty sure the animated series was my personal introduction to Batman, and to this day, I don't think the Joker haves ever looked as good as he looks in the first season
It blew my mind as a kid when I found out Luke Skywalker voiced the Joker.
@@Pegwarmers Me too, especially considering how different those two characters are. I had to see Mark in a booth doing the voice before I really believed it.

Tony needs to bring The Dark Knight Rises toys if you guys ever do Batman movie toys.
I wasn’t collecting during the time this line was in production, if I was collecting then like I am now, I’d have every figure from the line. BTAS is my all time favorite incarnation of Batman and many of the villains, having them in figure form would be amazing. I was able to snag the adventure continues Batman and Robin atleast, but I’d love some villains
Yeah, you have to be in the right time and place to collect a lot of lines.

I realized just HOW obsessed I am with the show while watching this. You guys are citing different episodes and internally I'm naming the episode names. Hah. I don't know HOW or WHY I remember so many of the titles, but so many just stuck with me. The episode Tony hated is called "I've Got Batman in my Basement," and I have to agree. I don't think it's terrible, but it's def. a weaker entry. Batman parries Penguin's sword umbrella...with a screw driver. It really is kind of jarring (especially now) seeing Burton's crude, rude, and perverted sewer mutant Penguin-man concept with the pesonality of the classic comic Penguin - high society, sophisticated, elloquently verbose. Most TNA re-designs were inferior (Joker never looked quite right to me without red lips - thankfully they corrected that when they got to JLA/JLU) despite the show still being very good, but the two most drastic re-designs are also the BEST re-designs: Penguin and Scarecrow. Then again, Riddler was a pretty big alteration - but he's def. not nearly as good as the suited Riddler from BTAS. Some barely changed at all though, just got slightly more angular like Two-Face, Clayface, and Harley. Another interesting thing that people often forget is that Scarecrow actually has three re-designs. In his first appearance, "Nothing to Fear," he has a completely different mask that only appears in that episode. I nicknamed it his "sock head" mask. Then in subsequent episodes he has the more well-known BTAS mask and only then is TNA which re-did him from head to toe. I always liked the added little edition of the noose around his neck.

I don't know if it's apart of the collection you're talking about here but I have a figurine of Zatanna from her BTAS appearance.
Btw "On Leather Wings" is the first episode of the series, the creative team said so in commentaries on the DVDs. "The Cat and the Claw" aired first because of "Batman Returns".
Yeah, there are some weird stuff like that, but most of the series can be watched in any order.
Tony is in The Dark Knight Rises and we need his toy figure in that toy line...we'll wonder later if it becomes a pegwarmer or not

I had a ton of the old Kenner figures too and also remember being very disappointed in the Ra's figure with that Jackal armor. It wasn't until many, many years later that I learned they actually made another show accurate Ra's in a big boxed set figure pack. I also had no idea that they made Ventriloquist, Gordon, Talia, and Alfred which all also came in packs like suit Ra's did.
Yeah a lot of neat stuff came out way late in that line.
@@Pegwarmers I actually think that might be...pretty sure...the only Ventriloquist figure ever made. There might have been one for The Batman, maybe, but I hated those designs. One too many liberties. I wish...soooooo badly...Mattel made a comic Ventriloquist and Scarface for the DCUC, Batman Legacy, or Infinites series.

Another thing I really wish, sorry commenting so much but I can talk about BTAS for days if not stopped. Hah. But I DREAM of What-If roles that didn't actually make it into the series. So this would mean roles that did exist in comics by that time. I'd have LOVED to have seen Black Mask (I imagine he'd take on more his original gangster role than the sicko torture obsessed serial killer he became later in comics), Anarchy, Lady Shiva, Deadshot (may be too violent but hey, the show did use real guns - unlike many other cartoons), Killer Moth, Azrael, etc. I'd say Zsasz but no way he'd have made it in...he's just a straight-up serial killer. The show def. pushed the limits at times, but he'd be crossing a line I think

Was always interested in this line when it was on the pegs . Man bat was especially tempting . But I was too much into toy biz marvel figures to take a chance on them.

Great line. I myself have Joker and Mad Hatter from the first season and Freeze and Scarecrow from the New Adventures. Would have liked New Adventures Hatter and Justice League/Return of the Joker flashback Joker
She actually sais "Rev up your Harley." Because teh censors tought "Ride your Harley" was a bit much. We all got what she was saying tough. Hubba hubba!
I only ever had one batman toy. I think it was a movie toy. He had like, a brown mettalic suit and no cape. I think he came with some kind of glider or something.
There were a lot of gimmick Batman figures
At least the gimmick gadgets make sense with Batman, compared to like, superman

Dick could skip collage classes here and there to go on adventures with batman but what did batman do with Tim, did he take him out of school?
Just dropped two hundo on Commish Gordon and Bullock. Money all spent IMO.

I always enjoyed the episodes WITHOUT Robin so much more. Never cared for the character of Robin or youth sidekick in general.
