skip Meggenhorn and go to the "Dreilindenpark" instead for a picnic with a stunning view. take Bus Number 14 to "Konservatorium" and climb the stairs. to retur to the city, you walk all the way down Wesmelin Monastry and then the famous "Hexensteige" and then end up near the Lion Monument.
We are spending 5 days in Zurich and plan a day trip to Lucerne. We will be there in late December, the week before Christmas. I've wanted to see Switzerland for over 50 years. We live in Seattle.
Wow ! Wonderful video . I am planning to travel to Lucerne, swissland around June next year. The great videos and useful information you made help me make travel plans. I'll look forward to your wonderful videos ! 😊🎉
I'm one of a small number of people living in Kornmarkt so thanks for featuring my apartment (right next to the clock tower). Lucky I wasn't naked in the window at the time (can happen). For free activities, swimming in the lake has to be on any list. Loads of places to do it close to the city centre. Also, there are loads of free bbq spots around the lakeside and in the countryside. Very popular to grill something and chill out. For an easy hike direct from the city with a good view, go above Gütsch all the way to Sonnenberg, then drop down into Kriens/Obernau and take the bus back.
How neat that you live on such a pretty square! You’re right that there are so many places to swim in the lake - perfect for a hot summer day! And we love Gütsch. We mention that in a few of our other videos too! Thanks for your local advice 😊
So excited to be finally able to use all your tips on my honeymoon in 2 weeks!!! Any suggestions on riding the Golden pass line to Montreux, using the Berner Oberland pass? Reserve to Saanen and then buy 1/2 fair for last leg? Stop in Saanen for lunch? Also "travelling without a suitcase" does sound great lol Bret 😂
i was fortunate enough to be able to visit Lucerne .. i miss it a lot and hope can go back to this beautifuL city one day .. .. greetings from 🇮🇩 Indonesia
Went there last year in summer and going back again end of this month or first week of October if my friend can get the VISA. I spend two days in Lucerene. My favorite was the walk down from Mount Rigi.
Hello Jana and Bret...thanks for all.your very helpfull and entertaining videos. We plan to visit Switzerland late November this year. We hope you can make a video of things to do and places to visit in November. Thanks and looking forward to our trip.
Love the ideas here - we will definitely have to stop in Lucerne! I’m a bit of a “church-crawler” and love visiting historic churches and they are often free too! :)
My wife and I are planning to spend 2 weeks in switzerland as 10 years anniversary celebrarion, and you guys are truly helping us tremendously to give us an idea on what to expect. Congratulations ! I truly believe you will become more and more popular. By the way, I was about to buy the hotelcard but turns out is only valid for specific countries in Europe. Not Mexico where we live 😢 is this accurate or any other options ? Thank you !
Unfortunately we've heard that it's not always available in all countries. Thank you so much for your encouragement, and we hope you find our other videos useful!
They can certainly come along for free from a ticketing standpoint. If your question is more about whether or not it's medically safe due to altitude, you'll have to ask the experts about that one!!
@@AplinsintheAlps many thanks! Our question is more along the lines of whether they are permitted or not? Apparently, someone told us that there is an age restriction. Were they misinformed?
We haven't heard of any restrictions for Mt. Pilatus. There's a restriction for Matterhorn Glacier Paradise in Zermatt, but that's the only one we know of. You could definitely check the Pilatus website or reach out to them to be sure: pilatus.ch/en
Thank you for all the informative in all videos about switzerland. It is really helpful. I've decided to visit lucerne and Zurich in my trip to switzerland. Is it more cheaper to buy train ticket from lucerne to Zurich in the station or in SBB app? Regarding
So glad our videos have been helpful and that you've landed on where exactly you'd like to visit! The train tickets will cost the same at the station or on the SBB app. We typically recommend buying through the app so you don't have to keep up with a paper ticket but if you have questions about which tickets you need to buy, the workers at the train stations are very helpful!
beauiful country and she is a nice country ,please and please be careful about natural disaster in your country but i wish you are fine and have a nice day with peace and have a good healthcare and going an oher country and no death in your country
Wow. Great tips Jana and Brett ! Thanks. We visiting in just a fews days’ time. This would be a great help to spend less and enjoy more of the magnificent Lucern. Can I just find out when was this video taken ? Thou it was uploaded just days before. Thanks 😊 looking forward to more videos.
It really depends on what you're doing and where you'll be traveling. Some of the villages are car free and most of the time you cannot use a car to get up into the mountains.
If you only stick to those cities/villages, then you can go everywhere by car. But train travel is so easy and scenic, and allows you to enjoy the journey without worrying about navigation, traffic, and parking. But it's really up to you!!
Hi there! We talk more about the visitor card in this video, so be sure to check it out if you haven't already! ua-cam.com/video/B5W8-TVWq1Y/v-deo.html
It's enough to see the highlights of the city. Although you could easily spend much more time, you can get a great overview. Be sure to check out our 1-Day City Guide to Lucerne if you haven't already: aplinsinthealps.com/guides/1-day-city-guide-to-lucerne-switzerland/
Switzerland is expensive but we do believe that you can travel here and not blow your budget. Eating at restaurants can be one of the biggest expenses here so we always recommend trying to only do one meal out at a restaurant. That will instantly save you money!
In our experience, it’s very difficult to get a job and visa here as an American unless you work for a larger company. It was easier for us to move here because we have Italian citizenship.
