The Rebel Eves - "First Place" (NPR Tiny Desk Submission 2024)

The powerhouse Americana trio, The Rebel Eves - comprised of award winning singer-songwriters Katie Pederson, Grace Theisen and Jilian Linklater - are releasing their first single of 2024 on February 23rd, a highly anticipated fan favorite, “First Place.” After a successful first tour of multiple sold out shows in the spring of 2023, the trio was blown away by the positive response to their music and began recording a self-titled debut album, which is slated to release sometime this year. Their motto is "connection over perfection” both on and off the stage and that is exactly what their newest single, First Place, is about.
Written by Eves members Jilian Linklater and Katie Pederson, First Place was born out of late night conversations about burnout, the never-ending pursuit of “more”, and the desire to reconnect with music purely for the love of it.
“This business can be so cut throat and the focus tends to be on money, fame, & streams. The industry constantly pits women against each other… starting this band and seeing how much joy and connection it has brought us and our audiences has been a really good reminder of why we began making music in the first place.”
First Place will be out on all streaming platforms on February 23rd. The new single was recorded at Troubadour Studios in Lansing, Michigan & was engineered and mixed by Corey DeRushia and mastered by Darren Vermaas.
The Rebel Eves will kick off this song’s release by attending their very first Folk Alliance International Conference in Kansas City, MO where they will play 6 private showcases including The Michigan Room, Jastick, FAI First Timers Room, Rainbow Room, Access Film Suite and Women of Note.
