This girl is the best Beth I have ever seen, bar none. Jo is fabulous but there is something so lyrical and honest about Beth. This production is astonishing -- never saw a high school production so consistently excellent.
both actresses did such an amazing job with expression. the contrast at the end where jo is so clearly not accepting her loss of beth whereas beth is just happy to be with her sister at the end of her life is so heartbreaking, legit cried like 4 times watching this
i remember my high school did this show my sophomore year and I worked sound. When I say I cried every single time they performed this song (all of tech and the three nights it played). It is the only song that brings me to tears every time i hear it, just so heartbreaking.
my voice teacher gave me this song years ago and it was adapted to be a solo, but i had never looked for the full scene like this, but this was beautiful
I fell in love with this musical the first time I heard the Broadway soundtrack. This was my favorite song from it. I am amazed at how wonderful both of these young ladies are. Beth is wonderful, but I am just as impressed with Jo. Their voices, their inflections, their abilities to tell the story with small touches, looks in their eyes, along with the words themselves, have just broken my heart. What an amazing performance . The rest of the performance of the musical is also excellent, but this song is my favorite.
Jo: (spoken) When you were first born, not an hour old, I told Marmee... Beth: (spoken) Beth is mine! Jo: (spoken) Everyone has someone special in the world, and I have you; My sweet Beth. Give me a task to do. Let's pretend we're riding on a kite. Let's imagine we're flying through the air! We'll ascend until we're out of sight. Life is paper, we'll soar! Let's be wild, up high above the sand, feel the wind, the world at our command. Let's enjoy the view, and never land. Floating far from the shore. Some things are meant to be, the clouds moving fast and free. The sun on a silver sea. A sky that's bright and blue. And some things will never end. The thrill of our magic ride. The love that I feel inside for you. We'll climb high beyond the break of day. Sleep on stardust, and dine on bits of moon You and I will find the Milky Way. We'll be mad, and explore. We'll recline a loft upon the breeze. Dart about sail on wit with ease. Pass the days doing only as we please, that's what living is for. Some things are meant to be, the tide turning endlessly, The way it takes hold of me, no matter what I do, And some things will never die, the promise of who you are, The memories when I am far from you. All my life, I've lived for loving you; let me go now.
This is astounding. I didn't know a musical adaptation of Louise May Alcott's classic story exists. I thought they adapted the story for feature films only.

Almost unbelievable that this is a high school production. These two are amazing.

this is so amazing, there's something about beth's last "some things are meant to be" that made me tear up.

5:55 - literal chills
Edit: 7:00 - eyes stinging with tears
Stunning performances, Broadway and West End worthy
These two girls are amazing, especially Beth. I am borderline ugly crying right now.
Our school just did this and I am getting goosebumps watching this scene...brought me to tears everytime I saw it.

So good reminds me of the Golden age of Hollywood, When it was worth watching.
