Thank you coil for the revolutionary music. Rest In Peace John balance and Peter Christopherson you will be missed
i definitely knew you on twitter bruh
Coil's one of my favorites. I don't listen to them often, but when I do it's always a satisfying rediscovery. Like right now. RIP Jhonn and Sleazy, and thanks to all.
I’ve never heard an album that is so disturbed and out of control, but so peaceful and zen at the same time. Coil really brought a whole new perspective. RIP
My thoughts exactly it’s like a fever dream
It's in my blood is sooo feel good I'll put it for my summer parties around the pool
Coil are everything to me
I hear that.
"Wait, why do people say this album is disturbing?"
*gets to 'It's in my Blood"*
"Oh, I see"
Saw them play in Dublin City Hall beautiful detting, stunning performance and John was gone a week or so later, tragic. RIP
Very mystical music. It's like a journey thru the underworld.

Triple Sun is uterrly beautiful, this album is truly a masterpiece
This is art
This is probably my most favourite album by any artist that I own as part of my music collection. 🖤
Jealous I need it 👌🏽
It’s 2021 and this album is hitting hard 🔥
Try 2022 as Russia is going to war with Ukraine.
2022
You good my dude? It’s 2022.
this is my 10th time listening to this album
never made it past the first song, it's too overwhelming haha
Have you attempted any more these past 7 months? I'm listening to it right now on vinyl and it's a very worthwhile experience.
Really? Then ya probably DON'T wanna check out SWANS, SPK or thee Pioneers of Industrial... FAUST(from 🇩🇪). Yes, Faust IS PRE-Neubauten & Bauhaus too! I'd know bc my Portland based Art-Project/Industrial Tribe: HITTING BIRTH Toured w/em in '94ish. Cheerce
@@keithbornzin8888 I listen to all of those bands
@@subtledemisefox Listening to it right now as I'm going to sleep :)
@@Meshtar i do the same lol
A great last studio album- the first and last songs are incredibly prescient, awe inspiring, and poignant. To this day, I can’t listen to those two songs with dry eyes. The whole album is fantastic, but those two, man. (And yes, I know the “Are You Being Served?” theme provides the lyrics for “Going Up”, but it kind of goes beyond that, doesn’t it?) Thanks for posting this- my CD in the car is a bit scratched up and skippy from almost two decades of being carted around in various cars, apartments, etc. I can’t believe that 2004 (when John went up) was that long ago, now.
As a Coil fan born in 2004, the last part of the comment is quite deep, to be honest. Great album, by the way
I share my birthdate with Jhonn's going up. I was 25. They were also filming Clive Barker's Hellraiser with the Cenobites in Uncle Frank's attic the 7th anniversary of my birth. Fairly significant to me both considering everything.
@@ianswanson5022 That’s really cool. It’s a wonderful feeling when things that mean so much to us coincide with other important things in our lives. Right on. 🖤
what the hell. I love it.

Good Pun, the title of this album! The Naples Arrangmnet and the Cicocephalus Monkey! I am a virgin to this Group! But I am already liking it!
this is what I found when I chose to leave my bed and see what was in the darkness in my closet as a child
I love Coil not only musically ( they are not virtuous).I agree with the lyrics, also because they paid homage and denounced the Killing of One of my compatriots ( proving the Italy and Italians are not Just pizza and spaghetti)Pasolini great Poet against the corrente system
I had heard this in the past, found it again here on YT. 2nd time listening to the full thing, really love it
I heard this album once about 7 years ago and promptly forgot what it was called. I’ve been looking for it off and on since then, and just now found it on a mu chart.
this is why its good to have a rym acc
God forgive me for this but I imagine from the album cover breakdancing on arms (since no legs) when Heaven's Blade plays
Bruh lmao
this album is like an LSD trip at 3 am.
Was anyone else searching for coil bsd videos and found this or just me? •,_,•

You don't expiate by dying. But by living. You're no good to anyone if you're dead.
coil's mysic sounds like breaking up with the one person you've known for decades or even watching them die, knowing nothing will ever be the same again
freaky ass album cover. music absolutely hits tho.

This is certainly enigmatic, but a work of art it is.
If you want to even try to understand Coil, check out Love's Secret Domain and go from there... They invented facets of EDM.
"I swallowed the one yew berry". Ignoring the pun, the seed of the yew berry is deadly poisonous. I wouldn't eat one. What does he mean?
I sometimes wonder if they cared about rave culture, I doubt it because they were too busy making music.
Maybe it's a reference to his alcoholism that eventually killed him
I think at least Peter Christopherson had an interest in it. I remember reading the interview where he was talking about all the research chemicals they messed with and I seem to remember him alluding to the rave culture and drug use, but I could be misremembering that last part
i interpret the yew berry line as being similar to the "then i took a sip from a cup of mercury" line from the live version of this song (found as track 4 on "...and the ambulance died in his arms"), in that these are both lethal acts that it seems like the narrator of both songs doesn't want to do, but finds themselves doing. various causes of death are mentioned throughout the ape of naples: poison, alcohol ("it's in my blood") and cutting ("heaven's blade", "tattooed man", potentially "amber rain") come to mind. in addition, many aspects of the lyricism of the album are about the many facets of death (particularly on "fire of the mind"). so, in short, i believe that this line plays into the ape of naples' running theme: that of death as a complex, multi-faceted thing.
"I swallowed the one you berry" Maybe it's a double entendre for imbibing everything of a poisonous person. Or "I swallowed the one you bury"
@@rosadeciduaFantastic comment. I love that Mercury line- when I first heard it, I had just gotten the symbol for Mercury on the back of my neck, as it’s always been very personal and important to me. I heard that version for the first time just a couple of days later, and I had a kind of moment of clarity- it felt very inclusive, like a connection to something larger. Groovy.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I enjoyed your comment- it was a well thought out analysis.
disturbing? as i said a few times commenting some of my most loved music, the only thing im finding truly disturbing is the mindless plastic pop the masses are being force fed every day, having to listen any of it for even a few seconds is pure torture not only on pure sound level,. and they force it literally everywhere, i went to a pharmacy a few weeks ag to buy a thingie, it was even there, its sickening. in the meantime listening to bands like coil always feels like a haven, its just so real.
Although i don't like to judge other people's tastes in music and such, I believe you're right
Pop is just the normal radio stuff they play, the thing most people don't mind or even really notice
Coil is for magic people who are rare
Honesty I still find pop more bearable than rap
In my country literally everyone my age range listen to rap and Im sick of hearing rappers talking about how much whores they fucked or how much people they killed
Also everyone is trying to be a gangster because of that being so idolized so they all don't shower and start chugging down vodka and cigarettes in preschool
@@greasyclown you are right, rap is the very worst of all, i hate it so much i literally try to deny its existence :) even if they say its an "alternative" form of it, having some "message" etc, its still oozing hate and vulgarity. pop is just something we being are bombarded with everywhere, including stores, workplaces etc, yes i know must ppl don't mind because they dont even know any other music, but for me i can't stand being forced into it if i go out anywhere.
Just come from Tim.

Any idea about the album title?
The Ape of Naples
@@subtledemisefox can confirm
Ossian used to work in an adult shop where they sold c grade pornos. He and Johnn came up with fake gay porno titles to pass the time, that's how the tiltes Ape of Naples and Black Antlers came to be.
ua-cam.com/video/vUd4y6cH8o8/v-deo.html
One of the members used to work at a video store and in order too shoot the shit the other member and him used to make up what they thought the next gay porno to come in would be called. All of Coils album titles are examples of such theoretical gay porn films
Really cool album. Impressed me enough I bought it on vinyl. But I can’t help thinking it could have benefited by having better vocals in a few places . Although maybe that’s just me. l
I disagree. Mr. Balance’s voice is very distinctive and evocative. There’s no other voice like it. He may not be a technically proficient singer, but the passionate gravity in his performances and his one-of-a-kind voice more than make up for it.

this sounds like aerosmith
I don't get this album. It has great moments but is overall underwhelming.
i can’t be the only one that doesn’t like this album. bit overrated. their earlier work is nice though.
