I was a bartender in Chicago, at a nightclub MJ frequented a few times. MJ was polite, courteous, and kind. He NEVER spoke-down to ANYONE, not my bar-backs, other customers, security, his friends, NOBODY. BUT, to Will's point, he did NOT like paying for "stuff." But, let me be clear, HE didn't ORDER anything but a few Corona's topped off with 151 Rum, OR just water if he was training. His CREW (The Ruff Rider motorcycle club, or other friends) on the other-hand, would run up a tab for 1000$-3000$ every-time though, and he did NOT intend to pay for them. At the time, when I was BUSTING MY ASS to serve 70 people drinks, by myself, I thought he was "stingy," but now I totally get it. He should't have to pay for half the bar to drink...Doesn't matter HOW rich he is...
Meanwhile, other guys like Antoine Walker would leave me a thousand-dollar tip, on a thousand dollar tab.
Walker made 110 million in the NBA and recently claimed bankruptcy. MJ is a billionaire.

This has happened to this fellow Chicagoan, too. I'm frugal but not cheap. I'm also a good tipper; people take care of me when I return to an establishment. I don't mind splitting a bill equally...but not when everyone but myself is ordering multiple $12-$15 drinks, a couple appetizers each, and an entree while I'm having a Diet Coke or juice (with free refills) that's actually likely to be comped and a nice size salad. (I don't drink.) I attended a dinner once where this lady I didn't know ordered her husband's food to go on the same tab. Uh, no.
Glad you realized just because someone earns significantly more money doesn't mean one's entitled to get outrageous tips or their friends get to mooch off of them. One friend earned >$300K while I was still earning $25K but I didn't expect her to pay my tab. That's not a friendship; that's a usership which ends up breeding resentment, jealousy, etc.

Will Smith is one of my favorite people. And I was always interested in how Will Smith's competitive nature compares to Michael Jordan's. I have been very inspired by both Will Smith and Michael Jordan, and both have talked about how competitive they are and how much they hate losing. So I wondered really who is more competitive, and this answered it directly. Michael Jordan's insane competitive nature is unbelievable, and in a good way. It's how he became the greatest player of all time. I am glad to hear that Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods seem to be on the same page competitively, because that way they have someone who truly understands that level of competitive nature.
And to be fair, I have heard arguments that other players are the greatest of all time, such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, or Bill Russell.
