Hi Karen! I own both sizes and can confirm that the 5.25 quart Deep vs. the 5.5 quart Round are quite different in their dimensions. The 2 pots in your video are both Deep ovens. If you look underneath the lids, you will see the number 24 embossed there, meaning both lids have the same diameter of 24cm. A 5.5 quart round is noticeably shallower and has a bigger lid size of 26cm. It might be helpful to take your flame one to an authorized retailer and look at it side by side next to a 5.5 quart round on display. On the bright side, if you have loved your flame Dutch oven all these years, then you can see there is a lot to love about the Deep oven. =)

Thank you Heidi, I have to admit I was a tad bit confused and yes both lids have the 24. I wasn't sure if I was sent the wrong one or not.

I was wondering what the differences were. Thanks for doing this video. In my head, I thought it would be taller than the 5.5 Dutch Oven and look different. What I need is a 6.5 Oval Dutch Oven but this 5.5 Deep Dutch at $250.......so tempting.

The deep oven is indeed taller than the regular. The 2 ovens in this video are both deep ovens, which is causing a lot of confusion for viewers.

To me it looks like you have 2 deep Dutch ovens. My deep Dutch oven is 5.5 inches tall without the lid and is 9.75 inches wide without the handles. My 5.5qt Dutch oven is only 4.5 inches tall without the lid but it is wider at 10.25 inches wide(not including the handles).
The Deep Dutch oven is marked 24 on the inside of the lid and my 5.5qt Dutch oven is marked 26. Check and see if both of yours are marked 24 cuz if so you may have 2 deep Dutch ovens. 🙂
No matter what they are both beautiful pots!

Thank you for the video. I believe the “deep oven” is a marketing stunt for someone that already owns and is happy with their round dutch oven. The dimensions are different and the knob is different yet the differences are not drastic. Personally, they are playing with words to create a difference. Personally, you captured the confusion properly - the deep oven looks so similar to the round oven, perfect 👍🏽, you got it. I truly like the cookware yet I want to be careful to not overspend. I will pass on this item. If someone is in the market for this item then this is a great buy 👏🏽 . I’m passing on the bread oven too. I have an 8 qt oval dutch and the sauteuse oven, they are enough to make bread. I personally work on knowing when enough is enough and use my existing tools effectively instead of buying because the company wants me to spend.

Thank you KM for this insight, and I wholeheartedly agree with making sure not to overspend and to make sure to have a specific use for each item purchased. the bread oven is lovely but my cast iron pans are my "go to" when baking bread. I thank you for watching and for your helpful commentary I appreciate it!!! :)

The 2 ovens in her video are actually the same kind (both deep ovens). She may have been confused about the flame colored one. There seems to be a strong consensus about this if you read through the other comments.

"overspending" on Le Creuset today is actually HUGE future savings if you have people to pass them down to! My aunt used to own three 5.5qt & one 4.5qt plus other Le Creuset cookware. She got 2 of the 5.5qts & the 4.5qt replaced due to staining & later gave the new 5.5qt to her daughter & the 4.5qt to her other daughter. Last year, after I moved into my own apartment, she gave me the other new 5.5qt as homewarming gift! My aunt got a good 20 plus years use of the ovens, but today you have 3 young women with brand new Le Creuset without paying a dime for them😍!

Please note the the two pots in your otherwise lovely video appear to be the exact same vessel. The Flame one has a Classic lid but a Signature body, and the Meringue one is in the newer Signature style, but both appear to be either 26cm and 5.5qts (regular), or 24cm and 5.25qts (Deep). The easiest way to confirm is, as you know, to check the underside of the lid or the bottom of the pot. I have both (the Deep and the plain round) and the Deep is materially deeper (which I find very useful in making less thick/chunky soups).

Thank you for sharing your review! I’ve been debating between both of these Dutch ovens for weeks & wondering if the deep oven is only for baking & deep frying.
But it seems like the difference are so marginal that you can do the same things in both..

I think there has been a mistake in the video; I am betting that the pots are identical (though one has a Classic lid, both vessels are Signature). I have both the 5.5qt/26cm Round and the 5.25qt/24cm Deep, and the difference is significant in height (though only .25 of a quart in volume).

@@karenandmaya8329 I know that Le Creuset is calling this a "new" release of the Deep Dutch Oven, but in fact it had been released in 2015 in that strange Signature body/Classic Lid combination (I have one in Cassis). I love the new, all-Signature one and the price is unbeatable.

Thanks for this video. I have to agree with the other comments, that perhaps both pots are deep & are the same. The normal 5.5 qt Dutch oven would be noticeably shorter than the 5.25 qt. I know this because I just purchased the 5.25 qt and had to compare this online to the current 5.5 qt oven. As far as the current models for the 5.25 qt & 5.5 qt, they are definitely different in height and width. You probably have two of the “same” pot, but one is an older model, one is a current model.

Thanks for the review. We don’t have the deep DO in Canada yet and now I know I do not want it. I have 3 5.5 round DO’s (26cm) and 3 4.5 round DOs (24cm) and one 6.75 round DO (28cm)…plus so many more it’s a bit embarrassing 😂❤❤ there would be no point whatsoever in me acquiring the deep DO. I was feeling like I was missing out lol. I thought it would be a smaller diameter but taller. Seems strange that it’s wider, but same height. How can it be called « deep » then? As always, love your reviews! Oh and just fyi…you guys in US are so lucky with the prices you have. The 5.5 round DO is over $600 here. I keep seeing so many scores from factory to table sales over on my LC facebook groups…we don’t have those here or any outlets so we seldom get any sales/deals…grrr.
