  • 16.09.2018 years in the Cave Verevkina at a depth of 2100 meters from the surface. Cavers from Russian team Perovo Speleo were in a difficult situation. The cave was flooded. With every hour water became more and more. We knew that the cave horizons below 2000 meters were flooded, but we believed that it could be possible only if the snow melts on the surface and heavy rain falls. According to our data, from February to September 2018, the Verevkina cave near the camp -2100 was not flooded, despite the spring floods and catastrophic rains in the Caucasus region in June and July. Therefore, we did not believe in the possibility of flooding the camp until the water began to penetrate from all the cracks. We had no more than 10 minutes to retreat. we managed to collect some things and climb the canopy to the upper horizons of the cave at the last moment Our group of 8 people , including two Englishmen Robbie Shone and Jeff Wade survived thanks to concerted action and experience.

Translation and the text of Pavel Demidov16.09.2018 года в Пещере Верёвкина на глубине 2100 метров от поверхности спелеологи из команды Перово-Спелео оказались в сложной ситуации.

Incredible! I’m from Scotland and have used climbing ascenders and foot loop strapping to climb up vertical cliff faces, it’s not easy. To see the depth these guys went to, and that’s after climbing a mountain to get to the entrance…..incredible 👍🏻👍🏻

I'm sitting here safe in my bed and my heart is going a million miles an hour just thinking about this, cannot imagine going through it so bravely. I'm sure some amazing footage was lost, but the fact that this footage alone survived is a wonder, amazing shots for such a perilous and panic inducing situation, thank you!!! 👏🏻

Stunning effort by everyone, in all respects of the expedition. Everyone surviving makes the expedition a success just in itself, even though you achieved so much more. Just a minor niggle, but it's a pity you got Robbie Stone's name misspelled, unless there are two world class caving photographers with such similar names?
