Thanks for the guide man! 6 years later but for someone with a 2016 Crosstrek your video helped me a ton!! Hope you are doing well!
I have a 2016 subaru crosstrek I love it
Thanks for posting this! I just ordered these and they didn't come with instructions so this was very helpful.
Thanks!!
Thanks for showing how simple installing those are. I just bought a 2018 Forester,have rails in box and want to put them on..looks really easy..! Love my Subaru !!
No Problem. Thanks for the comment.. Enjoy the Subie!!
cool...i will look into getting the same crossbars for my 2017...since my 2014 was totaled(but thats another story)..
cheers..
That 2017 sounds like it'll be awesome.. Did ya manage to get one of the limited editions in Red, or Black..
desert khaki ...just like my old one..
Sweet!!!!!
Just installed these on my 17' Crosstrek. The rear crossbar angles up towards the sky! Whats up with that?? When I went to install some kayak mounts I noticed the incline!
What is the spacing between the bars,i have the same Thule 859 rack,,how far back are the front bars from the edge of the roof rails that connects to the car
Once I mounted the plates to the rack that the U bolts attach to, I just moved the rails to match.. The back crossbar is almost all the way to the back of the rail. Hope that helps..
Great video, thanks. I installed some aftermarkets on my '15 Impreza Sport. Did you end up using the rubber spacers on the ends? I kept mine on but they end up leaving some room when tightened, I'm thinking they would fit more flush without them but not sure if they are required.
I DID keep the rubber spacer's on, as my impression is they will help with vibration and rubbing.. I have periodically checked mine, and they haven't budged, and I haven't had to retighten them at all since install. Thanks!!!
Is there a way to install a lock to these factory cross bars ?
Not that I know of. You could try some lock tight which would keep the screws from backing off..
Please can you tell me what is the part number for this product? Can you please confirm if it is E361SFJ100?
These are the ones, and you are correct:
Model(s):
XV Crosstrek
Model Year(s):
2013 - 2017
Part Number(s):
E361SFJ100
Eric, I got my rack and my crossbars are 30 1/2 inches apart from the center of the hex skrews on top of the bars,, about how far apart are your crossbars ?
How did these affect your gas milage?
The Aero bars aren't noticeable at all.. Very manageable.. No real loss in MPG
good to know, thank you. have you tried the Yakima racks or the Thule racks? which do you prefer of the three? I'm looking to get some soon. thank you!

Kyle I got 25 miles mpg from 32mpg.
Hey Eric,I have installed the bars to the direction of the Subaru crossbars instructions ,1.5 inches on the back and 5 inches on the front and have no cabin noise but when I open rear window it sounds like a helicopter flying over the car,lol,I opened the drivers window and no noise,just when I have the back windows open, have any idea what the sound could be from ,i get the rack tomorrow and will be installing the rack soon after I get it,thanks for your help
I have the same issue with the back window, or just a single window I believe.. I think they call the term buffeting( A chopping noise). I just ride with them half way down or more, and it helps. As in one other video, I mentioned that I added wind deflectors, and it helped with the noise, and if I have my basket on the cross bars it seems to help.. I can throw up a video albeit there installed, and I've also added Dynamat to my car, and kept the stock speakers, but the sound improvement was vastly improved.. Ideas.. Thank you for the comment!
Eric Reno thanks for your help,I was watching another crossbars install video and he wrapped the crossbar with Paracord and he said it seemed to cut down on the wind noise,I thought I did something wrong when I heard the buffeting sound,lol
I have those same factory crossbars and they suck. I can get some things to work on them, but its always a little sketchy, when it shouldn't be. Right now, I have a roof rack held on at the back by zip ties because of these poorly designed bars. If they were at least the same usable width between the two that come in the pack, then it would not be so bad. It is like a freakn' moron got to design these things.

That sucks!!!! Sorry to hear you've had such a bad run.. Knock on wood I haven't had an issue that I can really speak of
I appreciate the effort, but the factory rack sucks, for multiple reasons. Skip it and get a more universal system.
