Here's a bit of insight as to what I'm up to during my gap year from medicine. It's a bit of a different day in the life as I'm currently working as a strategy consultant (a job I VERY much love!)
WHO AM I: I'm Elizabeth, a medical student, artist, UA-camr and Podcaster in London. I love to think and talk about life, art, medicine, books and meaning. And also how to find the time to do those things. Great to see a day in your life Liz!! Honestly I feel like so many medics would fit the strategy/management consultant role - given that we're mostly pathological perfectionists who love to optimise and take control of things, and have to work in a system that's hopelessly inefficient where we have so many ideas for improvement... (like WHY am I using 7 different pieces of software and multiple forms to clerk a single patient, there HAS to be a better way...) Anyway, LOVED this video!❤

As an Asian, salted duck egg fish skin is the best! You can try salted egg on potato chips first so that it's not as intimidating, chicken skin is also excellent

I bring my earbuds into the STEAM ROOM! (Jaybirds Vista2 - they're waterproof). My iPhone is outside the steam room, but I have a guided meditation going usually when I'm in the steam room on my earbuds - so no, you're not strange!

I am a retired chemical engineer 70 years old..and now I am an Export and Import Chemicals products Consultant in Valencia.Venezuela. My native language is spanish. but I speak english..italian..and I am learnig french and germany languages. It is a fun job .Next week I will travel to USA and later to Colombia..How to negociate..is the base for this type of job..

The Sauna - the music you need is the metronome that is your pulse through your head - you can regulate this with your breath. Also consider closing your eyes while processing this to get the full effect. Oh and more heat 🔥🙂

really enjoyed the video! I'm a huge fan of all your vids tbh so not surprised this one was great too! I'd love to know more about your role and what it includes, I find it so difficult to actually grasp what consulting is. Is it something that can be done part time too? it sounds really interesting and I am looking for a part time role while at med school and this sounds right up my alley. So does PA'ing (organisation freak right here) but again I find it difficult to find these roles. Any advice would be absolutely amazing and I'll be forever grateful! Looking forward to your next video! BW xx
Ah great questions. I think if you already have experience in something like consulting, you could potentially freelance it part time for different companies/a company, however, if you've never done it before I think it might be very hard. There's a lot to learn and do 😅 At the moment we do have jobs and projects that require very long days and strict deadlines, I don't think it would be as easy/possible to balance alongside medical school, especially if I'd never done it before 😅

This video reminded me of an interview of the cast of Witcher after season 1 and how one new actor said they wish they knew not to give their all at the start and to pace themselves because after 47th take they were all spent. However, their performance is by far the best IMHO and it's especially evident in season 2 when they weren't on their best game.
It was quite a busy day, Elizabeth :) And you managed to go to the Gym afterwards which suggests that you have a lot of willpower. I'm proud of you! I'm also curious if you prefer working at an office or remotely from your home. What do you think is the best option? Anyway, good luck with everything you do! :)
Ahhh I love them both! It's a lot more fun in the office, but I do end up getting a lot less done. When we have meeting days I prefer to go in, meetings are a lot more engaging in person than on zoom, but if I have my own projects/work to do, I prefer to bash it out at home

Hello Elizabeth. I am new to your channel, I enjoy listening to you speak. Very soothing voice. I don't have productivity advice just yet but I listened to your comments about having to bring your phone into the sauna. Just thought I would advise you that you can transfer music to your apple watch and listen with AirPods conected to the watch. Now, you don't need to bring the phone into the sauna... Just your watch. Hope you like that tip...
I am ready to become a super strategy consultant after years of experimenting as an R&D head, making racing cars, robotics, project management, artist, researcher of lunar rovers, practicing deep meditation and concentration etc. Now i finally see my tech & research experience and creativity inclines towards such a job. I would like to invest in any course if you have for such a problem, of guiding people towards such a career, or any specific videos or paid personal online calls that you might be offering to you subscribers for sharing your knowledge, i would be more than greatfull, hope it can be possible!! Btw iam 25 right now, so if im not too late to get started with this please consider this request...
Did you have any background in Strategy Consulting? Or did you teach yourself ?
No, this job was the first time - and there was a LOT of learning and teaching myself whiel on the job, before I got this role and still while in it!

it was such a sunny day when I filmed this! but there's more windows than walls in the office, so it's very very bright usually
Those salted egg fish skin chips are very popular in Singapore, who are known for making delicious hawker food - trust the Singaporeans, they know what tastes good!
Can you make a video of how to enter the consulting field. Especially without core consulting experience. I applied for BCG but no luck till now. Would be really great to have insights about what is expected of people who aspire to be in consulting field

Basically first step is you need a business degree with good GPA.
