    Live free or die. Andy Garcia's movie is about creative freedom which was lost under Castro. There must be a better way than enslaving people to a godless ideology. It was a very well put together movie. Thank you for putting this interview on YT.

      This propaganda film is also silent about the US vast and concerted multi-year campaign of propaganda, terrorism, economic warfare, illegal invasion, nuclear brinksmanship and assassination plots.
      The US overthrew many democracies in Latin America, democracies are susceptible to external threats so Castro infringed on some Cubans rights to ensure Cuba would not succumb to US imperialism and revert to a plantation/casino with an immiserated people.
      This silly propaganda film absurdly blames Castro for supposedly maintaining Batista's dictatorship, when in fact Batista happily cooperated with the US to maintain his dictatorship, while Castro was relentlessly attacked by the US and thus forced to curtail democratic rights to prevent the US from again subjugating Cuba...

    Add me to the list getsumharley! Its a seldom heard story that needed to be told. I am very proud of Andy for defying the Hollywood left and the mainstream media, and telling the world the truth of what happened to our beautiful island almost 50 years ago. Thank you Andy!

    I experienced everything portrayed in this movie. The communists took everything from him. My grandfather and my great uncle were land owners in Cuba in the 1940-1950s. My grandfather died there. My father was incarcerated in the 1960s for fighting Castro.

      Your post says nothing about the condition of the Cuban people, juxtapose education and health care under US puppet dictator Batista and Castro... Cuban-Americans only ever whine that Castro took away their privileged position they enjoyed for decades on the backs of the poor, y'all never mention the stunning improvements in SOL for the vast majority of Cubans, because you don't care about ordinary Cubans, you only care about your privileged family and friends...

    I really enjoyed this slice of history - Theres always two sides to a story - The Schism between those vibrant CUBAN colours used to film Cubas dark history !
    Andy Garcia has done to Havana What Woody Allen has done for New York - Hats off to Andy for putting all this together ~ And he didn't get any finance from the American Film ...Er! ... Film ..who ever finances American movies ? -Was it because it was all based around Cuba - A cuban movie ? - Makes you wonder - The powers that be ? - Not Finacing a movie about the powers that be ? - Will things ever change? no matter how much we try ?
    Well done Mr Garcia for Putting together this labour of love - Great Actors - Great Dancers - Great Musicians -One day it will be aknowledged as a Great Movie ? -It's not a lost cause Just you see !

    Dear thomasdanner59, Hey, you've written very well. I haven't seen the film, though I very much want to. I get the feeling from things I've read etc, that ya may be right. More of a reminisce than a tragedy & so on. Hollywood seems to run on missed, deliberate and tragic trajectories. Any more insights? A great little post.

    that is exactly the point. the whole world cant be like the U.S. we have so much because the rest of the world has so little. People who are chasing something that is impossible. the whole world cant be rediculously wealthy. only small percentages of people in every country can be wealthy using the capitalist system. However we can all live more than comfortably if the globe worked together without selfish ends.

    In the movie when he gets his exit visa and tells his late brother's wife whose he's in love with and wants her to go with him and says There's nothing here they will tell you what to say and what to do! The Great Cuban poet Humberto Padilla said I'd rather be a 🦁Lion for a day then a 🐑 Sheep the rest of my life!

    @MissCynsere Well someone in the cuban military must stage a coup against thier own goverment and the people WILL follow and support it IF they really want it. If the russians were capable of bringing down the soviets, cuban people should be able to do the same....if they have the courage and desire to do so!

    @Tusc9969 a military coup is worse than Castrist rule! it is always dangerous to let the army get into politics! look what happened in Chile and Burma when they did it!

  • @SuperAngelofglory

  • @SuperAngelofglory

    it is the peaceful revolution that took place in Czechoslovakia in 1989, when the communists willingly gave up to power when they faced street protests, without ordering the police to use force

    uh...WHAT??? Let me recall your words..." or a system of equality where everyone has the bare necessities but have health, food, shelter, and education..." First of all my friend Cuba's health system is far from advanced. Hospitals are so old they're near the point of collapsing. If you're sick then beware, because you will have to bring your own food to the hospital as well as your own sheets for the bed... I wouldn't consider that a very good experience...

  • @getsumharley
    @getsumharley 16 років тому

    My friend:
    You do not know the half of it. I wish you well. Fidel and his Brother Raul are horrible human beings. Everything and everyone that they are against suffer and suffer they do. From making Aids colonies where if you are HIV positive you are locked up and separated from society to the horrible abuses against disidents etc.. Take care -

    imagine doing that with 12-13-14 years of age... Um... That happens in MANY poor countries very OFTEN. Try reading some books.

  • @4yall
    @4yall 15 років тому +1

    well, should I tell you what happens when you speak what you think? should I tell you that you get imprisoned and tortured just for critizicing the government? should I tell you that you won't be permitted to get a job if you ever get caught talking "bad" about the government?It is just a visiion, my friend, and that's what many don't see, Cuba's government doesn't care for its people, because if it did then they wouldnt suffer they way they have...

  • @mansonboy2000
    @mansonboy2000 15 років тому

    Cuba is not rich, it is very poor, but it is because there arent many other countries willing to do trade without taking advantage of the poorer countries. Capitalism=inequlities.
    Never the less there are alot more countries that are doing worst than cuba, at least Cuba looks after all its people the best it can, other countries dont care about anyone.
