Glad they are working on bringing it back. The Rio was the party spot 20 years ago. It is great seeing this since just recently videos were being made about the hotel being half abandoned and the colony of feral cats. What a difference in under a year. The folks that posted the Rio in worst hotels will need to make video updates!

At a time when Las Vegas is gunning to close down older hotels like the Tropicana and the Mirage, it's great to see Rio is being renovated. Looks like they've got a long way to go to bring it back to what it once was, but they're off to a promising start!! Thank you, Jay Jay!!

Lol, what? No one is "gunning" to close down hotels....The Mirage got bought by the Hard Rock group, and the Tropicana is making way for a stadium which will do more for the strip than that casino ever could

Stayed during Mother’s Day weekend. A huge shout out to the ladies on the casino floor, they definitely were present and serving drinks.

So great to see that Wine Cellar is open again! First time I ever came to LV I went to Voodoo Lounge, it was and is a spectacular view! Just like this vlog is spectacular!

I think the building exterior has aged remarkably well design-wise. I always thought it was cool looking as a kid. Glad to see the property is getting some proper attention and money thrown at it.

The wine cellar looks absolutely amazing
I've never stayed at the Rio but their Voodoo Lounge was a lot of fun! The last time I visited the place was way back in 2017, my ex and I ordered that Witch Doctor drink and we drank it all and I got F up, I don't even remember how we got back to our room at The Aria. 🤣
haha here's a secret... they made it for me with no alcohol just for the shot! LOL!
@@Jaycation Lol! Yeah, I remember they refuse to serve more than two orders to people because they know it will F you up good. My ex and I only ordered one and it F me up really good. Ha ha!
Stayed there last year right before renovations. I still appreciated it for the cheap price, free parking and easily being able to walk to the strip, but you could tell it was past it's glory days. Excited to see all the changes. I'm going to Vegas again in about a month and I think I have decided to stay at the Rio again, thanks for the informative video, like always I appreciate it.

As someone who stayed there a few months ago, I am very impressed with the renovations they have done. The rooms are excellent & I appreciate how well the wifi works in the rooms along with the many USB charging ports. I also enjoyed Shogun Ramen & Tony Luke's in the food hall. Definitely going to be staying here again when I am in Vegas in mid August for my birthday.

The Rio is our favorite spot in Vegas! Love the suites with tubs
The views at the rooftop is amazing. Food prices seem a little expensive but It would be worth it just to get that view.

I remember we used to go to the Rio for their seafood buffet. Ayce lobster tails. That used to be my reason to visit vegas lol. Sucks they stopped that buffet.
Hope they bring back the Seafood buffet considered by many as the best in Vegas a couple of decades ago
Won't happen, the carnival buffet area used to be is now the food hall
the AYCE Buffet has great lobster and crab legs and its just across the street from the palms!
who knows... its a big property but it looks like resorts are pivoting away from buffets

Rio was the first hotel I stayed at in Vegas when I got married. Did visit the hotel 2 other times and was sad how everything went downhill during that time. Glad the Rio got revive and it looks great. Probably plan to visit there again in a year or two.

Have always wanted to try the Wine Cellar but not a wine drinker so thought it wasn't for me. Now I definitely want to try it.
Spent my 40th birthday at VooDoo Steak and at VooDoo Lounge back in 2006. Had a great time but the Witch Doctor drink was a let down. My friends paid $26 for me to have this huge drink and didn't even get a buzz from it, and I'm not a big drinker. Looks like they improved it.

Awesome RIO memories from the early 2000s for me. Imo, the best view of Las Vegas is at the rooftop of the Voodoo Lounge. This would be my spot on NYE!!

Question? Where do you buy your water and coffee for your room. When you stay on the strip or on Fremont you have the CVS or ABC stores. I stayed at The Rio maybe 20 years ago. I loved the Casino but hated that I had to take a taxi to the strip. Is it still like that? Love watching you!! Keep up the good work.
There is a walgreens directly across the street from Rio but i usually go to ABC Stores on the strip. I use Lyft and it's about 9 bucks to the strip. Thanks for watching!

Sorry Jay. We are at Rio right now and the food at the food court is really, really bad. We had a Philly cheesesteak ($17.50 with tip) that was completely devoid of any flavor and it was totally dry. We then tried the sushi. Cali roll and spicy tuna were worse than gas station sushi, all for the low price of $31.50 with tip. Ended up throwing half of it away. There were also no customers in the food hall. Word is out it is not tasty and way overpriced. Only good thing was the pool. Food and drinks were good and very reasonably priced.
I like the more off strip hotels I’m starting to get more attention because I used to be kind of an isolation island and feel kind of left out but I like that they are upping their game and making it like a fun but I am more quiet, place to get away from the buzz but you’re not missing out on anything
What they need to do is increase security and lighting in their garage parking lots. I had a friend get robbed at gunpoint over there last year.

Jay, when I first started going to Las Vegas in 2001 or 2002, my 2 favorite casinos were the Rio & The Palms. I can't believe both fell into such disfavor & disrepair. Glad to see the Rio is on the way back & the Palms didn't fall into disrepair; Station just decided they did not want it.
just a bit far from the rest of the strip... makes a huge difference. wish there was a monorail to that side but not enough there to justify a build i guess

I won't be staying here Jay I may walk in someday to check out some of renovations but that's about it brother. This looks like dream scape is doing a flip property sale with this one. Unlike Hard Rock which is going all in on the Mirage this just seems like a fly by night renovation to get money selling this joint, $600 million invested is not enough and it's still lip stick on a pig and that bathtub is an accident waiting to happen, this time Jay I can't put a happy face on this one we'll catch you on the next video my friend

The Rio needs to fix the sewer smell that it has for the last 40 years= at the entry way near the parking garage(near poker entrance area)
Just need a tram to the strip now. It's not far and a $20 million investment could save a $800 million resort and bring the strip to the Rio and the guests of the Rio to the strip.

The Rio must have identified that with the Mirage closing there will be a massive tropical theme void where it stood. Don’t blame them for trying to attract the same guests, no one is going to that Hard Rock disaster in the making.
