Hey man love the vid. I’m 48 years old. I ride a mash up at 41 litres. I love the volume. Everyone is like. Bro you should be riding 32 litres. Easy to paddle. Get on the waves early. Glad to see someone else loving the volume. Great vid.
Thanks a bunch - appreciate it! Haha I’ll never understand the ‘volume shaming’ lol but glad I’m not the only one rocking a bit more volume, it makes for a great session. Like you were saying - catch more waves, easier to paddle, makes you surf stronger since you’re pushing around more board. Whatever keeps you in the water longer as you get older right. Cheers.
You're 100% correct, sitting in the lineup is cool but not catching waves is soul destroying. Im 61 years old,98 kgs ,I've fudged through so much money trying to solve this. This week i receive my 6.4 Sweet potato Volcanic...Thanks for the confirmation that im doing the right thing.Stolked from South Africa...
I see it all the time here in SoCal. People sitting in the line with Shortboard and catching no waves, and the look of jealousy when they see the mid and longboard people catching everything 😂
Try AM keel its so fun. I find the upright twins abit more loose. Depending on the type of wave you surf. When the wave gets serious i surf it with the NPJ quartet fins. Dont go with the machado quad keels. Too much fins for the board and not enough hold.

I have the Channel Islands m23. That’s a good board also
Awesome I’ve been looking at that model, appears to be heaps fun.
I pick the S&B all day here in San Diego CA
Yea it’s just about the perfect board for San Diego surf.

where in socal / oc do you find soft big waves? when it’s bigger everything seems hollow / fast
I have to keep the secrets safe lol but perhaps in northern areas of sd they may exist
Tourmaline/Oldmans….its a safe haven for beginners and longboards. Super mushy and soft. They don’t even break.. they crumble
What fins do you use when you ride the Seaside and Beyond as a twin?
