Another great video, your super tuning that machine in , looks fun use new machine over old hunting ground. I did the same thing when I got my NOX 600 , first place I went was place I hunted with Whites DFX 300 and so fun to see what I had miss. And it made me dig lots and hunt shower. Thanks Dewayne
This is the same settings that I use in my trashy parks. It really lights up the coins and skips over the trash. It really keeps from overloading your brain with so many tones on junk.
I really like this program for coin hunting. I have had my Deus II for over 2 yrsts. I use bottle cap Reject at 3, and have never dug a crown cap with the Deus II. Your notch settings are the same as I use.
Nice dime time! My oldest silver is 1903 barbie dime, that buddy I mentioned trippin over best coin at all times walked out in a random field tuscumbia al next to our hotel 1851 seated and 3 pieces of iron were his finds! Lol thanks for the info on setup,I'm chomping at the bit to get home friday, put this in and beep things!
They really are, seems they wear easy!? Have you ever seen a nice detailed one? Barber quarter far as looks sign me up but if were dreaming/wishing early 1800 bust half or something! Lol
@@proudlyamerican2764 Yessir, I’ve dug quite a few Barbers with good details. For some reason it’s the Mercs that seem to have the most wear on the dimes I dig. People must’ve passed those things around for decades! I guess the one coin that doesn’t wear well at all would probably be the Standing Liberty Quarter. The date is the first thing to go!
Nicely done. I too notch out. Have been finding a bit of silver too. Use pitch and ft. like them both. Want to get back to general and try square and other mod settings in general. Uses subtraction, like the beach programs. Has suddenly been raining here and soil is saturated.
Hey good to hear from you man! Good choice with the 9". I've heard the 11" throws the balance off, plus the 9" seems plenty deep for my neck of the woods. Let us know how ya like the D2!
Following along on that Deus2 Dewayne. Appreciate the info your putting out! Sounded sharp on that Barber! Was the Rosie on edge maybe? That was a limited angle/direction you were picking the signal up at. All the best brother!
Hey Tim! I think both dimes had some masking, and the Rosie was considerably deeper. Watching closely it does appear to have been on edge when my pinpointer knocked it loose. Another possible factor is that I was using the Fast program in that last clip. It uses a higher weighted frequency set, so it’s geared more toward separation than depth on high conductors. A combination of all of the above probably explains why the signal on that last dime was on the weaker side. ATB!
Hey Kenny. I thought about getting the 11” coil but with this nasty orange Ga clay, coins don’t seem to sink all that deep in most places around here. So I figured I’d just go with the 9 incher to save a little more weight and maybe gain a little better separation.
Great video Dewayne, waiting on my D2. I relic hunt a lot in NC, what’s your thoughts on a good starting program for CW relics? I mainly do woods and fields for my relics. Very few homesites that have any occupation in my area. Trying to get all info I can before it arrives. Thanks for the coin videos I have them saved for later programming. Take Care… HH
Hey thanks Tony. Is there a lot of iron at your relic site? If so, the Fast program might work well for you. Otherwise, possibly the General program. I haven’t used the relic program much myself so I can’t really speak on how it performs but General is good all around. You could lower the reactivity a bit to gain more depth if it’s cleaner ground. Hope your D2 arrives soon!
Thanks Dewayne. Looking forward to it myself as well. Was holding out on the 3030 replacement but I gave up…Lol I appreciate the programming videos they will be real easy to add into module with the close up camera work.
Love your videos. Need a program for hunting silver in a old park that has lots of iron and modern trash. Want to try fast with pitch. If you was going to only hunt for silver close to iron how would you setup your Deus to hunt a site like that. Some silvers maybe deep. Thanks
Hey Kevin, I actually tried two programs today doing exactly what you described. Detecting silver range only at an old park. The first one I tried was based on Deep HC set up in pitch tones. I just used a single notch from 0-88. It was a bit unstable at the park I was hunting. Lots of EMI. So then I set up a program based off of General which uses a spread frequency set of both high and low frequencies. I set the same single notch all the way up to 88. Pitch tones, lowered the reactivity to 2, bottle cap at 4, and sensitivity at 98. It actually ran very stable like this. Seemed to be a happy compromise between depth and speed using the General mode as the base program. I got one signal that was just giving a low grunt on the pitch audio, but it was repeating so I dug it. It was a wheat which was down about the length of my pinpointer. For whatever reason the Deus was up averaging the ID, as it was reading 94. Anyway, I also got some more clad in an area that had lots of little nails. No silver today, but I think this program may work well. Just need to put more time on it.
@@MetalDetectingNWGA Do you think all that notch would cause you to miss silver close to iron or beside a lower conductor target? Wouldn’t the iron and low conductors pull the vdi number of a silver down into the notched area?
@@kevinmccrory2347 Yes, that is a possibility anytime you use discrimination. Even if you’re only rejecting targets below 50, you could still be missing a coin blended with an iron signal. It’s a trade off between how much junk you’re willing to dig vs good targets dug per time spent detecting. Sometimes it’s just not possible to “dig it all”. Especially on some of the extremely trashy spots. The good news is, the Deus is super fast and can often give a proper audio response on a coin that’s very close to junk targets.
@@MetalDetectingNWGA that’s what I wanted to hear. Seen a post where a guy setup same program in general notch to 85 and bottle cap at 5. He ended up pulling 12 wheats and 1 silver. Can’t wait to get out do some testing myself. Thank you for the great info and videos.
Hey Paul. Man I love my CTX too. I don’t have any plans of getting rid of it any time soon (unless Minelab releases a lighter weight version!). I’ll continue to use my 3030 for cherry picking or selective digging. That’s where it really shines IMHO. For me, the Deus is sort of a specialty machine. I’ll use it for cleaning up the last few finds from heavily hunted sites, relic hunting and hunting where there’s a lot of iron/trash. They each have a place in my Arsenal, so no real intentions of replacing one with the other. It sure is nice to swing this lightweight Deus after lugging around the beefy CTX!
@@MetalDetectingNWGA Good to hear. I'm seeing a deus vs nox thing going on and just sitting off to the side with my CTX going hmmm. I may grab a deus at some point if the wet salt sand vids continue to look promising " depth wise". I agree with keeping an arsenal going though !
I used to spend a lot of time at the local library searching newspaper clippings and maps showing old areas. The Historic Aerials website works well too.
Nice video. It appears that setting up new programs on the D2 is rather straight forward. Might just be the detector down the road when my arm gives out. I have switched from the Minelab Pro Swing harness to my older $30 Detector Pro swing harness. Much more comfortable and less bulky than the Mineland pro harness.
Hey man, I've been meaning to check in and see how you've been getting along with the 3030 lately. Yep, setting up the Deus 2 is very straight forward. I think it, along with the CTX for cherry picking is a great combo. Swinging the Deus feels like swinging a stick after spending some time with the CTX. Sure is nice to give the ol' arm a break.
Yes sir! I’m a big fan of pitch tones for that very reason. I’ve noticed that coin signals that may sound a little sketchy on other tone profiles tend to really stand out and scream “dig me” when using pitch tones. You do have to listen for the really deep ones, but you can definitely still hear that it sounds like a coin. I like full tones too, but pitch is my favorite.
Thank you. I've never hunted a ghost town site, but I'd imagine its lots of older iron with less modern trash? If so, the Fast program should work well for that too. Depending on the type of targets you're looking to find, maybe use less discrimination since you shouldn't be dealing with all the modern trash. Lowering the reactivity a bit will get you a little more depth if the iron isn't too dense. The General program may work well too. Good luck!
@@MetalDetectingNWGA Thanks for the info! Ghost Towns, mining camps & RR camps are fun. Usually old cans & iron EVERYWHERE!! Mainly hunting coins & tokens.
I have the 9”. Never tried the 11” on either my D1 or D2. The 9” seems plenty deep for my soil, and the less weight the better IMHO. Seems like the 9” should do a little better in trashy spots but I can’t say for sure.

the only real way to know that a metal detector ,missed a coin is passing the other detector over that same target buried , and thats the only way to do it and to know the truth .
I actually agree with that 100%. I've said the same thing myself. The only way to truly know if one detector is faster/deeper/better than another is to test them on the same target, on the same day. I'm not saying that I think the Deus 2 is necessarily hitting targets that other machines won't hit. Other machines have probably sounded off on these targets before but with a very iffy signal. I think this particular audio response (pitch tones) gives a more diggable signal on masked good targets that may sound sketchy on other machines or other audio options. Pitch tones is a very unique type of audio for sure.
You did not mention what pitch tone you are using. There is PWM and Square which can be be changed in options. Sounded like you were in Square pitch. Yep, I should've mentioned that I'm using Pitch Square. Its actually the default for the fast program. PWM probably gives a little more nuance, but I just prefer the smoother sound of square.
