These "interviews at home" are the best thing to come out of this whole corona thing. Sorry, they're just so much more entertaining than the regular interviews.
Generally people allow themselves to be more genuine if they’re in their comfort zone. An audience is intimidating for many people. What Steve said about himself however is an example of the opposite - there are people who can draw energy from an audience. The audience itself makes them feel at home. Ultimately, it depends on the kind of person you’re interviewing and the host themselves. But yes, video interviews were a refreshing new thing during this pandemic.
@@simon_25 let me guess, you're also one of the people that bothered to take the time to come here and dislike the video? were all so impressed. you are uninteresting and flat so keep moving and go bore some other site with your meaningless opinion
I feel like there was a period in his career that he didn't like to do interviews... Maybe based on projects or his comfort level... Whatever that may be... But since his time with Ryan Reynolds and their duel interviews I feel like Jake has come into his own and has shown his true personality and just doesn't care how ppl take it. I like be that about him!
Stephen you keep saying it's hard to do the show without a live audience. But you are coming in loud and clear, and your show is starting to feel like a needed friend during this isolated, uncertain time. Thank you for doing it.
As a french woman I can confirme that “levain” was pronounced perfectly 👌 and don’t even get me started on sourdough made by one of my favourite actors who I had no idea could sing like that, what a treat this moment was, thank you guys 🙏
This was so 😂😂 Jake Gyllenhaal seems like such a good conversationalist: sarcastic, witty, funny and yet thoughtful, deep and solemn. I love his interviews. I wish I could be his friend.
I had a friend whose brother didn't know how to say Jake Gyllenhaal's name. When we were talking about The Day After Tomorrow he asked "That's got that guy Jake Gla higla hile in it, right?" That was one sentence, 15 years ago, and I still think of it every time I see Jake Glahiglahile.
This is the most normal casual very good interview. I literally forgot this was an interview. It’s like two friends talking. Shows you both people have real depth. I think they struggle when the guest is a little flaky or flighty. It was soothing listening to these two talk...
That was a great start to the Interview...shushing Stephen so he doesn't disturb the Sourdough. Can I just say...VERY Happy to see "the Part" is back on the left side of Stephen's head. That was oddly disturbing, yesterday, and God knows we don't need any more mayhem right now.
Stephen, I think it is a credit to your writing crew and your performance that you’re keeping this funny and engaging. Not only you, Sam Bee and the other guys (new band name). Everyone is busting rocks to make the show roll.
I was lucky enough to see him and Annaleigh Ashford in "Sunday In The Park With George" and both were amazing! I met him after Sea Wall/A Life (he was in A Life) at the Public Theatre...and he was just as charming and friendly in person as he is during this interview. Can't wait to see what he does next on stage!
Stephen - may I call you Steve? - if you or your any of your staff are reading this, just know, the energy of authenticity and immediacy and, yes, uncertainty, that comes through in this audience-less format, is really valuable. A lot of us out here are loving it. I'm sorry you have to navigate that new and weird sense of being deprived of audience feedback, but it really pays off! The vulnerability and experimentation are making this uniquely rewarding television. If you can know where you're going, you've already gone! Just keep moving on.
I've always loved Jake Gyllenhaal's work but holy hell, watching this interview I'm blow away - he is so cool! and deep. but lighthearted. I am loving these quarantine interviews - so much more interesting and "real" than the standard format. I don't want to go back to the way things were (in this respect)
8:46 when Stephen says he has a friend he talks to in the mirror I seriously thought it was maybe a Donnie Darko reference. Jake should have asked "Is his name Frank?"
It's very interesting, and highly amusing, the difference in conversations in this time compared to being in a studio. I actually prefer this than the studio.
What a brilliant human being with a smart sense of humor. My esteem is expanded. Always have felt that way about you Stephen. Delightful entertaining interview.
Holy Hanna!! He's a great singer!! I have goosebumps he's so good! I didn't think it was possible to love him even more than I already do!!! 🥰♥️🥰♥️🥰😍❤️

Sevil Sevdiyar , I just had a look online and I think you are mistaken. Call me crazy, but I love love love Stephen Colbert's show from home, much more than the show before covid. Who knew he could sing so beautifully? That he spouts poetry, rap lyrics, philosophy, all spontaneously? His thoughts and commentary are more heartfelt, less showy and flippant. I feel as if he's talking with us instead of performing for us.
"He talks to me in the mirror in the middle of the night and ...He just wants to know how to keep doing it." not the 'laugh till I cry' I was looking for, but I'll take it
Whoever ends up with Jake wins the lottery. Genuine. Kind. Hardworking. Intelligent. Clever. Witty. Handsome. Humble.
TOTALLY AGREE!!🥰
I always thought Jake was handsome and a great actor, but the long hair and sourdough just elevated him to sexiest man on youtube.
