Scoreline isnt harsh, Mark. We didnt defend properly for any of the goals, you said yourself all were preventable. Plus, you get your chances, you can't afford powderpuff finishing like that. We were having more of a go at the 'bigger' clubs in this league two seasons ago. This is a much bigger, more experienced squad than we had then. Got to ensure we dont slump like we did last season.
Always great to listen to Mark giving a frank and honest opinion of the game.... it is frustrating that we haven't come away from this block with more to show; but what a difference from what we expected!
I wonder whether there is an issue about them not being able to handle a Saturday-Tuesday turnaround? Are they able to prepare properly for a midweek game after a Saturday? Barnsley are a decent side, so they don't need us gifting them three soft goals like we did. Mark said himself all four were preventable. He says that virtually every goal, though, because most of what they concede is soft, so again, are lessons being learned? No plan B when plan A isn't working, 4-2-3-1 seems virtually all we have. Hopefully we will try Thomas in the ten when May or Cousins are fit to start because we need to work better as an attacking unit, the strikers are getting very little decent service and what little we create, we waste. Our challenge now is not to let a slump in form establish like we saw last season.
It's typical that we let in four goals just days after having the joint-best defensive record in the league! Bonner was absolutely right to keep Mannion in the team after the way he's been playing but with Stevens being fit again, he was always going to get dropped if he made a big mistake, so Jack will come back into the side for Monday's game now. I thought my pre-season worry that we wouldn't score enough goals this season may prove to be unfounded after we scored 9 goals in our first 5 games but given that we've only scored 2 goals from open play in the 7 games we've played since, I think it's fair to say goal scoring will once again be a big problem for us this season. You can't say we didn't have chances tonight. I can't remember the last time we had as many as 8 shots on target! Our last 7 games looked quite tough on paper, so it shouldn't be a surprise that we only won 1 of them and haven't won for over 4 weeks and counting but we've really got to get back to winning ways now we've got some easier-looking games coming up.

The team created some chances, 4-0 loss but it wasn't a one sided mauling. George Thomas is so so good
Unlucky result but at least we're not poor old Cheltenham
Ha the wheels have well and truly come off. Up the ox
You boys are flying pal 👍
