idk about anyone else, but i love when squish does like anything other than comp. of course enjoy watching him play high level ssl lobbies, but its always fun to see him switch it up and play extra modes, LTM's, or workshop maps. shows his personality a bit more

I love what you said about failure, it's 100% true. For anyone that wants to know more about the science behind learning and how to optimize it, i highly recommend they check out the Hueberman lab podcast. What squishy says in this video about failure is actually a key component of how our brains learn different skills.
This also translates to machine learning in artificial intelligence, where the learning rate is a function of error. Not only a key component in learning in the brain, but as you said, an essential part of the pure concept of learning.
Recently discovered Huberman podcast and I absolutely love it. He has such a knack for explaining in-depth technical topics in a way that's easy to understand. Keeps it interesting as well.

If you don’t mind, how old are you? I’m 16 but I think it’s awesome to have wiser people watching rocket league, it’s just assumed that nobody over the age of like 30 plays competitive video games and I had the same view until I read your comment.
@@RL_Happy I’m 26, so not too old haha :). Love the game haha, been playing since it launched. My friends never really got on board because the barrier to entry was too high. It’s not one of those games that you can pick up and play well within 30 minutes 😆. It’s takes time to learn a lot of the fundamental mechanics that make rocket league so fun (Ariels etc)

So I think with boomers that have work, kids, Uni etc. We tend to play games that we can pick up and play immediately. Or that require minimal effort to learn haha 😆. Games that we have already learned as kids like Fifa etc

I love hoops more than the main game. I’ve only ever played somewhere between casually and sweaty, but hoops has so many more interesting plays and player dynamics imo. There’s something about the more intimate space and the focus on aerial control and wall/ceiling control that gives it a real spice. Also, there’s not enough said about strategic wall pinches, theyre game changers and can be done regularly due to the smaller map size and 4 player count

I was running hoops earlier today and I’ve never placed in it before so I was going up against bronze players for the first three games. The skill difference between the bottom and the top is INSANE!

Dang, watching Squishy slay it in hoops is like watching a god. His ball control and aerial mechanics are crazy. Although it makes me feel better about my own gameplay knowing that even squishy still slams into the rim and own goals occasionally 🙃

11:42 about kickoffs in hoops, there are some really cool bump strats where you bump teammate as they take off to get to the ball quicker. Johnnyboi had a vid a couple years back with a hoops mains duo playing against pros and they had some crazy kickoffs

I don't know if that's known but I never heard someone talking about it or never seen it so I'm saying it, if you want to go up a wall, you can go faster by jumping in the bottom corner of the wall, you can jump 2 times (or 3 if you click really fast). It can help you be earlier on the ball and surprise the opponent. I discovered this like 2 years ago but with the chain dash (or whatever it is called) I fell like it's easier to understand how it works.

yo about the tournaments, these dudes at the ranked hoops twitch channel do tournaments all sundays, tons of the best ranked hoops players go in every week. There you can see the meta kickoffs like the friendship (team bump) kickoff executed to a T

I’d say one of the most important and underrated skills is recovering and immediate repositioning after getting bumped or getting a weird hit or landing wrong. Often times I find that to be one of the leading problems of people getting scored on or losing enough time to not catch up last second to get a goal. If you can recover and reposition quickly you can get so much more time under your belt to evaluate the situation and act accordingly.
