You can see the clear difference when a lioness hunts alone comapred to a leapord, a leapord just knows how to mazimize all the ground it its advantage, the grass, bushes, vantage points, and a leapord probably has the quickest first step of all the big cats(except maybe a mountain lion).

It never ceases to amaze me how these Big Cats are able to so quickly and precisely get into the correct position to kill their prey while also avoiding getting injured. I heard that even the hooves of Warthog can serve as daggers for defense when needed, and yet the positioning of this Leopard makes the kick of this Warthog totally useless as far as harming this leopard. Thank you for this post❗️👍👍🏾

The Leopard has to be one of the most efficient apex predators, kills with efficiency, cleaner and swifter than what a much larger Lion would do. Then drags its prey into the trees where it can feed at will without the hoards of scavengers on its case, that is if it makes it to the trees with its prey. Excellent video. Nature as it is, hopefully we maintain natural habitats and increase them so apex predators can thrive, which in turn means everything thrives.

From what I could tell the Leopard started early looking for the takedown and when the Boar successfully sprawled the attempt, the Leopard pulled guard looking for an Arm Triangle. The boar succeeded in getting to his feet but the excellent Jiu Jitsu of the Leopard prevented the Boar from gaining space. Paired with a good clench, the boar just couldn't get any offence going. The Leopard eventually took his back, secured the choke. The Boar tried to make it to the end of the round, but the Leopard was just too good. TKO end of round 1

Most big cats kill their prey by crushing the windpipe.. not by slashing the arteries. So most of their kills die slowly and some are eaten alive. This is how it always happens. Brave little bugger to take on such big prey. Warthogs are nasty creatures that would gladly eat YOU if you were the only thing around. So don't feel so bad.

    • @atomgonuclear
      @atomgonuclear 9 років тому +19

True. I have a hard time feeling bad for hogs though. They are really nasty. Leopards will usually try to avoid confrontation. If you get too close to a hog's mud wallow good luck. They are a nuisance too. They breed like crazy and can eat several acres of seed in 1 night.

Lions, leopards, cheetahs, cougars and most of the other cats almost always use the throat bite to the wind pipe technique to kill ungulates. Lions also use another unique strategy- the nose bite, to suffocate if the animal is big. Tigers sometimes use another strategy- the neck bite with the help of their longer canine, which crushes the spinal cord and kills the victim immediately. Jaguars often use another strategy- the skull bite, which penetrates the skull and reaches the brain of the victim. Clouded leopards can use 3 of these techniques (throat, neck and skull bite) because of their comparatively largest jaws in the cat family. At prehistoric times, Sabretooths used their long serrated canines to slice through all the blood vessels in the neck of the large prey which made them die faster.

Hey bill calm down you might still be in 3rd grade so ill just explain it to you...
The circle of life aka food chain is an animal food eating thing,it starts with a producer then consumer and the last decomposer.the consumers are the plants... the consumers are hebivore and carnivore.then decomposers are bacterias soo a food chain is some thing that animals eat example a grass eaten by a rabbit then eaten by a tiger then dies and eaten by a bacteria so...
A food chain is a livingthing that will kill it and eat it it has a purpose the thing that you're saying isnt a circle of life because a human doesnt eat a human.
Have a merry christmas,i hope you share that to your parents and tell them that UA-cam isnt that bad at all because you can learn things.

So, have more of a sophisticated mind that can understand that with each one of us lives a prey and a predator and that we all marvel at the possibility of the hunt and escape as well.

I have to agree with you. As great as the filming and scene, there is far too much human interference. If it were not for the loud engines of the truck as well as the loud human talking, it's very possible that this warthog could have heard or even seen the leopard and taken off well before he actually did. The commentators even noted at the beginning that the leopard was utilizing the sound of their vehicles to help him hunt. So they pretty much acknowledged they interfered and probably cost this warthog its life.
That all said, this is absolutely amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing footage and I thank the camera crew and and the commentator for providing us this on UA-cam. My suggestion, however, is that they be a little bit more subtle and move further away from the animals.

Scáth mac tíre Oh yes indeed! I am never surprised by the leopard's smarts. Having watched big cats all my life, it's no secret to me that the leopard is probably the smartest of all the big cats or at least one of the smartest. Additionally, they are also one of the boldest of the big cats so courage could have played a role in that as well.

Scáth mac tíre My wife and I were fortunate enough to be able to go to Sabi Sands and stay at Idube, with Rob as our ranger. From animals to birds and plants, his knowledge of the wildlife is encyclopedic; you couldn't find a better guide to the area. We saw this same leopard on two occasions. He sees people in the vehicles almost daily, finds us totally uninteresting and doesn't appear to be bothered in any way by our presence. It was really a rather amazing experience!

i know right? Considering that the actual rate the Leopard gets a kill is tremendously low, then even if it gets the kill it could lose it scavengers. People don't realize that this is what happens to us when we step into nature. We are food.We need to eat food to live as well. We have evolved and grown our civilizations so that the brutality of nature doesn't apply to us.We literally have evolved past nature as Richard Dawkins puts it. We dont become food sitting in our houses watching dancing with the stars. This is pure unadulterated nature. The realism of life. The Leopard kills not out of hatred for the Warthog but for a need to feed so it can reproduce. Its nice to take step out of the artificial reality us humans create for ourselves and see what the world is really like.Beautiful.

Well said. This is frankly why you shouldn't bring women on these types of outings because they don't know how to fuckin keep their emotions in check. Instead of taking the opportunity to admire a rare event like this, she stupidly cheers for the warthog to escape. They probably should've just left her dumbass alone in the field to see whether any warthogs would come to her aid if another leopard happened to be on the prowl...

We dont have to live in this brutality of nature. We dont have to fight to survive because of technology and intelligence. We have removed ourselves from eat or be eaten chain.I don't have to step outside and wonder if myself or my children are going to be eaten by a predator. We have evolved past nature. We have evolved out of that race. That is why there are over 8 billion people on the planet.

    • @judithcampbell3354

brentlion those pigs are tough skinned animals and killing one does take time even though the Leopard had it by the throat! It took time to finally get it on its back and even then penetrating the jugular that pig put up a fight so 30 minutes later and the pig was dead. Did you not see how the Leopard was heavy breathing during the kill?
I think you need to do more research
