Spoon is perfection. Britt is everything. For my money, it just doesn't get any more satisfying than this. Love my fellow Austinites. Superfan for life💕
This is a great song. I saw them play it live in a small venue ahead of the release of one of their subsequent albums. It was the last song of the night and it brought the house down as we all sang the “aw yeahs” at the end. Love the clever play on words “street tar in summer will do a job on your soul/sole” - as he is walking into Dorian’s to get his boots repaired (“they ain’t gonna walk him home.”). The idea of mending and having someone take care of you / taking care of someone. Great song.
Britt you are so amazing and so talented and I can't even tell you enough how I think you are one of the best rock musicians that has ever lived. Thank you for your talents. Love, love this beautiful song!
i don't wanna over react to a backstage performance of the last track on an album but there was something really nice about that. I've seen them live twice this year and i have all their albums and i know how good they/he are/is. i think he's guitar playing is a real highlight here. i knew he had this performance in him but it's been captured perfectly here. well played britt.
Brilliant, was at the gig at the Scala last night. I even saw the cameraman in fact walking past me several times to the smoking section. Watch the band damnit!
Thanks for posting this. I knew that there was a good reason for being alive and this video is it. I'm so glad that Britt is finally getting the fame and recognition he deserves. Thanks so much post more if you got it :-)
this is kinda weird but my geometry teacher told me about these guys. i love his voice!

So, I've watched this clip around 400 times (seriously) and I'm dying to know what the song playing in the background at the beginning is. Anybody know for sure? It sounds like part of the club mix, but maybe it's an opening act? It sounds awesome, whatever it is.
Some people write "Black Like Me" off, calling it "boring" and a disappointing closer track to "Ga". I completely disagree. If anything, I think it's exciting and a great way to end the band's finest record, IMO. Unbelievably passionate and well delivered.
Wow! He sounds even better in person. Man his voice is POWERFUL. One of the best songs ever. I would tell people to check out my version but it'll sound like garbage compared to this. If you do check it out, keep in mind,I'm not Brit Daniels!lol
that's a lotta diet coke in the background. on the up and up, however, Britt Daniel is excellent (as always). He did another acoustic set as part of a Portland, OR comp CD with other portlandish artists. He covers sam cooke's "bring it on home", I think.
This is literally everything I love about music in a single three-minute performance.
Spoon is perfection. Britt is everything. For my money, it just doesn't get any more satisfying than this. Love my fellow Austinites. Superfan for life💕
Oh hey
Tyler Darling oh hai

This is really, truly amazing.
spoon is sooo good and they never get the respect they deserve. Great lyrics, great melody, and all out great tunes.

His voice is just perfect wtf

This is excellent footage (considering it was hand held!) and a lovely song also. Top Bananas to Adam Buxton
It really is. This is not only my most watched UA-cam video, it's also my favourite live performance of all time.
Bar none.
Classic😮perfect!!❤

fantastic... just him and a guitar, this could've been released as is. Amazing!
Bloody love this song.
Quite a nice shot, so that whisky voice got a boost. Britt is really soulful and talented. Always good to hear and listen.
This is so good!
Hello😊
Love song about boots. I can relate.
Has a David Bowie feel to it, I love spoon
Street tar and summer will do a job on your soul. Such a vivid picture.
What the heck does it mean?
Street tar and summer will do a job on your sole. It's all about his boots.
0:26 Dorian’s is a cobbler/ shoe repair shop.
im just glad that after along day of Bs I get to lay down and listen to this song before I go to sleep. Hopefully I meet someone whos black like me.
Britt Daniel is a genius.
Dorians boot repair in Portland lol
Anyone else can't help but sing the " Ah Yeah's?"

I had no idea this song would sound so good acoustic...
Hello😊
Always good return to
Thank you for this.
just saw them last night in denver, ridiculously good performance.
amen.
Buddy, you rep Austin well. Where the hell did you dredge up that voice? It's fuckin' incredible.

Zach Litchman Especially with the piano ringing at the end.
Agreed - perhaps my favorite song from my favorite band.
Zach Litchman > where can I read what your saying man. I want to see this for my self. Thanks for bringing the matter to my attention.
This is the most perfect ending to a Spoon album in my opinion. Always been my favorite closing track.
Bowie like at the end of album... Rock N Roll Suicide
just excellent man, stay in this rhythm if you can
Street tar in summer does do a job on your sole!
Incredible. And hey, nice tidbit about Dorians!
i'm a guy who loves Spoon's music, hell yeah
Wonderfull!!
This song is fucking Amazing
I love this song, it's so beatiful :) But who is Gary Busey?? ha ha
just got into them; what a life i've wasted
Good stuff
I can't help but sing the "yeah's" and "aw yeah's" near the end, when he plays.
Wow! He sounds even better in person. Man his voice is POWERFUL. One of the best songs ever. I would tell people to check out my version but it'll sound like garbage compared to this. If you do check it out, keep in mind,I'm not Brit Daniels!lol
awesome
@sexiewasd It's a fantastic studio...
ok you saved me the trouble of asking who Dorian was, now do you know who Junie is?? thank you. and what exactly is this song about??
They added reverb to his vocals, not necessary guys
dude, i was watching point break last night. i thought the exact same thing.
@tineteton i know what you mean. they were the deciding factor in my going to fff fest
There`s just a perfect room reverb
More than a little bit of John Lennon in this kid. Will see the band tonight on the lawn at McMenamin's Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon.

He's backstage a club in this -->
When he started I thought that he was about to play "weight of the world " from BRMC
Well, that's true, but a lot of the time you really have to search for them.
Jesus.
all the weird kids up front tell me what you know you want...
I spent the night in the map room
HD-35, maybe?
I you don't love his voice the I don't want your soul.
does anyone know the background music from the beginning to 0:06?
John Howard Griffin
I'd take care of him any day ;D
How? Just....How?
He's talking one second, and he's just a guy. Then he opens his mouth to sing and....How?
My cover of this song is so pathetic in comparison hah
In case people give a shit.
chords pleeeeeeeeeeeze
interessting 3 dislikes
your mostly naming shit bands there. and spoons are mid 90s i believe.
Singed by the whitest musician alive?
It's an old book: a white guy puts on blackface to see how he gets treated by white people.
