I think they are absolute rubbish! I think they are so much rubbish that I have watched them all back-to/back about 20 times and have got through treble that number of pairs of incontinence pants.
First saw it on the ABC in Australia 1982. To this day I still greet a like minded friend with "hello mummsy" when we see each other !! Ripping Yarns, to me, is way better than Fawlty Towers (granted the latter's great too, of course).
06:10 wow, what a nice pic of Gilliam! Very interesting program, I'm looking forward for the next parts, and already thanks a lot for uploading those two;) Btw, do you know if there was an episode about the Flying Circus?
Micheal Pailin & Terry Jones had "Ripping Yarns", John Cleese had "Fawlty Towers" end Eric Idle had "Rutland Weekend Television". Terry Gilliam was directing films but what was Graham Chapman's solo project?
I have never heard of Ripping Yarns but instantly became addicted.haven’t laughed so much for years.Must watch them all.
The funniest one was Tompkinsons school days .

I've never even heard of Ripping Yarns, but the first minute convinced my I should watch all of it.
The Claw. I love Ripping Yarns.
in episode THE CURSE OF THE BLAW, the ship name was GREASY BASTARD, female officer went on to be John Thaw's girl in MORSE
i was lucky enough to grab this username...its also my email...big fan!!
Great quality. Thank you.
This was my favorite when first aired in the states. Yes, I'm old. Smart. too.
“Full scale model icebreaker.”
Love the quote from Michael Pallin about the call from John Cleese: "Cleese rang up...typically Johnny." @7:22 LOL!
I can't imagine anyone calling Sir Michael Palin "Mickey"!!
Thank you so much! :)
I'm 36 and remember BBC2 airing this in about 1990. My Dad recorded it and showed me and my brother. WAAAYY better than Towers...... anyday!!

He had the movie Yellowbeard. Eric and John shows up in it, but it was mostly Graham working on it, I believe.

Fabulous series. Such a tragedy the Terry Jones is terminally ill.
Only Tompkinson is in the vein of Monty Python but all are brilliant in their own right

He made a BBC pilot in 1976 called Out of The Trees.
The BBC brought many comedy talents to the fore but why any comedian would want to be associated with it now?
Who can blame him?
Drinking.
