🎄✨This festive little GEM has it all, AND MORE!
3 stones, a flurry of roadblocks, and determination... I Got It DONE!!
    A little backstory:
While painting stone #1, unbeknownst to me, the video stopped half way through. When I realized that, I was annoyed, but started a new stone, with the first as my template.
All was well until I dropped it in my lap😒. Frustrated, I put it aside and began #3, hoping to get beyond the point of stone #1. You can see where (and how) this is going...
Eventually, I had 3 stones, all with the same design on top. I completed #1, which you can see at the end of the video, along with the completed # 3, then decided the other two weren't going to defeat me, lol! So, I continued and stones #2 & #3 came to be.
Of the 3, I thought #2 was more fun and interesting, so I put together this little video for you. I hope you like it!!
Trying to edit this conglomerate into 3 separate videos proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I am NOT an editor!

I like the idea of using a small tile to test out your dots before adding to the final project. Your approach reminds me of a lecturer I had doing my commercial dressmaking course. Her attitude was that we were learning how to use the basics to start our designs and then learning how to get out of trouble if something went wrong. In other words, don't take what your doing so seriously because there really is no right and wrong. Fair enough to say when your not working with $200 a yard fabric. The point really is most of us take things way too seriously and then we start to lose the enjoyment of what we love doing and it soon becomes a real chore. Every now and again Imam reminded of that advise.

I just found your channel and am really enjoying it. I have followed 3~4 other dot artists for years. Your art is a very nice contrast and you show many different design elements the others don't. I hope you continue to add new content to your channel. You have given me much to work with.

Hi, I've just subscribed to your channel, I came across it out of the blue and liked what I watched, and also love the way you explain it from beginning to end. I'm a beginner in Mandala painting, and so far I have practiced on flat wooden Christmas tree ornaments, and some book marks, but unwisely spent a lot of money on buying the wrong paints and dotting tools, I aim to put that right asp :), however I do find you can buy much better products in America than I can here in England.
You might think I'm being a little ambitious, but have bought a white teaset to paint as a gift for my sister, she just loves a cup and saucer. I was wondering if you have ever painted a matching cup and saucer at all? I don't see a video in your library on the subject, but wondered if you might make a video of such a project? If not, is it possible that you could give any helpful tips, I would so appreciate it? Thankyou in advance xx

Hi Lilac! Yay! Thank you, I’m happy you’re here! Don’t feel bad, we’ve all spent unnecessary money on supplies… I certainly did! Don’t spend any more until you get to know the ones you have. (Watch my ‘No Dotting Tools? No Problem!’ Video ua-cam.com/video/Qfhv33t0Y0k/v-deo.html for a few ideas.)
I use very few tools, and my faves are the generic inexpensive ones I got on Amazon, and I bought a lot at the beginning. (I just uploaded a short video on inexpensive tools)
I also have several brands of acrylic and chalk paint, and I use them all. Folk Art, DecoArt, Delta, Martha Stewart, craftsmart (Michael’s brand) Apple Barrel, etc. You even use (house) paint samples from the Home Improvement stores!
I have painted mugs, coasters, wine glasses, etc., but not video’d. However, I can give you a few pointers 😀
You’ll need multi surface or enamel acrylic paint, and follow the instructions exactly so it can be hand washed safely. Before painting, wipe well with alcohol, wear gloves to avoid oils and fingerprints, cure (air dry and bake) as directed. A dry erase or chalk marker is great for marking guidelines, wipes off easily after paint dries. And paint below the lip area.
It is ambitious, lol, so you might want to practice on an old glass, or mug first. You’ll want to brace the glass while you’re painting, a bag of rice works well. You’ll come up with a few tricks of your own along the way. 😉 btw multi surface paint dries fairly quickly and it a little harder to clean up once dry. Use alcohol sparingly, it runs quickly and can mess with areas you don’t want it to.
I know it sounds like a lot, and it is, but don’t worry, it gets easier with practice and following label instructions exactly.
I hope this helps! Welcome to the addictive world of dotting!! 😍

@@ArtbyRMalloy Thank you so much for your quick response to my questions, and your time :) You have given me a lot of helpful advice, which I will strictly follow to the letter, however some of the brands of paint you use, I haven't heard of, well not here in the UK... I'm going to shop for some FolkArt, as DecoArt seems to be in the US. You have mentioned House Paint, do you mean Emulsion, and can you bake it in the oven the same as the multi surface paints?
I felt sure you would have painted Mugs and glassware lol, so could you please tell me if you paint them using a stencil or not?... I have looked for flexible stencils but can't seem to find any, only the hard plastic ones which won't bend on the curves. I'm so looking forward to working some magic on my project, (I'm saying *magic* with my fingers crossed lol). Thank you also for the link to your video on tools, I'm off to watch it this very minute... with kind regards Lilac x

I did a quick google search for Folk Art and DecoArt in the UK and found these two websites, www.craftyarts.co.uk and www.artcuts.co.uk. I recommend both of these brands of paint. They are my favorites, Folk Art for the specialty paints and DecoArt for regular acrylics. I have no knowledge or experience with either website so I can’t comment on that.
$2 - $3 American dollars is the average price in the US for both brands, 2oz bottles.
